- coop respawns sometimes lead to instadeath

While playing online coop with a friend, he respawned right in front of me at the exact time my LAZR BEAM OF DEATH shot off. Funny stuff.

Why isn't there a way random people can join up for co-op. Its a fucking pain in the ass having to have three friends that want to play. Should have done it like Crackdown.

yeah , i tossed a grenade at my wifes back that sent her flying

then the exact same thing happened in Halo 3! :)

On the bungie.net stats page where it lists all your kills by weapon, I have 17 under "?" and when highlighted it says: "Guardians, Killed, once again, by the guardians"

WTF?

Do not question the Guardians.

Got the first five meta-game achievements tonight. Did it on Heroic with the No Radar, and Tons of Grenades skulls on. Aside from the 5th mission my Co-Op partner and I both cleared the 15,000 point goal easily.

So are they fairly easy to get with Skulls on?

Which ones did you use?

I got my first one tonight too. I did it solo with the 'no radar' skull and the 'field promotion' skull, which I think is my favorite combination.

Ok so I just encountered a really strange glitch while playing a game of Duel on The Pit with a buddy of mine. At one point during the match he became completely immune to everything I shot at him, I unloaded 5 or 6 rounds from my sniper rifle (3 to the head) and an entire clip from my battle rifle, with nothing to show for it except for the blood splattering out of him... and no there was no special power ups or anything like that.

Any lag problems in the game?

This thread will reach a million views. How many do that?
When needing to be honest with someone, have you ever said "let me be frank with you..."? If I were you, I'd use that phrase all the time.

Is holding down the right trigger the fastest way to fast-forward a saved film in Campaign?
Yeah. It's the only way. And you can't rewind either, so be sure to slow down before you get to the part you want to watch.

I think so. I wish there was a way to set bookmarks on the Timeline thing. Skip between them. Would make things much easier.

Only half an hour more to go.
Amen to that. Imagine sitting through a full hour of the last level to try to get some screens of the secret ending, only to realize you can't watch the secret ending in saved films.

I did the first four on normal with 3 skulls turned on and got my meta-achievements for them. The fifth one is a bit tricky since the level is so short - I just missed it.

Also, is matchmaking messed up for anyone else?

I'm surprised people here are going for 15,000 on the lower difficulties. I thought it would be hard to reach 15,000 on them.

I think I'll have to try a lower difficulty latter tonight.

Can anyone tell me if you have to do anything special for the campaign mission 6 and 7 metagame achievements?

All of the other levels have a requirement of 15,000 but those two require 50,000 points for the achievement. I assume that is mostly because they are the longest levels in the game, but I just want to make sure...

Nope. Theyre pretty easy... the best way is to do them solo in normal with 5 skulls on. Fog, Famine, Catch, Tough Luck, and I cant remember the last one.

Lots of vehicles for starters.

okay - very late on this but here is my SUPER BIASED XBOT take on Halo 3 - coop , 2 players ... on Heroic (stop laughing).

So after laughing at those of experienceing framerate problems how was it for you? Not counting stutter at checkpoint/loading points within levels.

Anyone want to go on a metagame spree this weekend? Wouldn't mind those achievements.

Your best bet is to do them solo... Its possible co-op but yo have to put the difficult up to Legendary and youll probably die lots with the skulls on too... that combined with the fact that you have others competing for the same kills. It more fun in co-op sure but to guarantee the achievements use my strategy above.

None whatsoever.

Seriously, check out the video. I didn't see a hint of lag, and the blood was spraying out of him each time I took a shot.

Weird stuff.

Thunderstorm

Yep whats that do again? I know for sure I dont have Tilt, Iron, Mythic and I cant remember the last one again :lol

I do use the one that promotes each covenant to their next available rank... thats easy enogh when playing on normal. If youre doing a level such as Crows Nest though you might want to switch Catch off. The constant barrage of plasma nades at your head becomes tiresome:lol

+++ AI and general "stuff going on" is crazy - replaying sections, different things happen each time, there are a multitude of ways to approach each section and i`m sure everyones take on each stage will be different.
+ graphically, i thought the game was pretty good
+ music is as awesome as ever
+ COOP mode still awesome - not tried online, but lan play was great
+ theater mode... :O nice!

- the story... i gave up trying to understand what was going on
- plot twists for the sake of plot twists
-
Charlotte Bronte levels of genocide, can we just have SOMEONE survive? I`m no longer surprised!
- a feeling of revisiting each level , going to similar places started to become tiring
- game started off interesting and a bit new, but then rapidly went back to its roots. The Halo part of this series needs to die a horrible death, it`s like a millstone around the series.
- massive dejavu - started to feel like a Halo 1 and Halo 2 remix in terms of levels
- graphic glitches (pop in particular) became more prelevant in the later levels, but not seeing as bad as others (or my standards are lower!)
- some areas in coop where we were "magic invisible walled"
- coop respawns sometimes lead to instadeath
- one particularly horrific level :(
- sound balancing is all wrong for my set up - guns sound like pea shooters and a lot of the voice acting is lost in the mix, no options to fiddle with (that i could see)
- hilarious "Scarab in the sky" bug where it was floating high above one of the levels.

The bolded points are the reason why Bungie should move on to new projects. It's not their fault in any way - Halo was set in a specific universe and that meant you would see similar architecture and places over and over (e.g. forerunner buildings, Halo rings). There's no way around it, and after awhile, it loses novelty. Let Bungie make new games with new worlds.

I saved a clip titled "WTF?" if anyone wants to check it out, here's a screenshot of a sniper round bursting through his skull. You can clearly see that I hit him, yet he never lost even a bit of health.

My file share

How did he get his helmet to be blue with his entire body being grey ?

So after laughing at those of experienceing framerate problems how was it for you? Not counting stutter at checkpoint/loading points within levels.

frame rate was fine through out, very few splutters

some things to note : not connected to the internet, system link coop.

The Live Aware might cause an issue i guess?

The pop up on the snowy level is quite noticable though as folliage at the start was popping in out of nowhere, but yeah - framerate wise it was steady as a rock.

Wife had the same.

As per above, plenty of things wrong with the game, just didn`t think the graphics were anywhere near the problems of the others. Not pointing fingers, as i believe some people in that thread had genuine beefs, but if the haters actually played the game for any length of time they`d have found much more significant things to bitch about IMO.

That last sentence reads like a backhanded compliment right until the pay off, where it becomes a backhanded insult.

Everyone entitled to their opinion of course.

Thanks. I've been playing on Heroic with 5 skulls turned on (2 gold and 3 silver) and have gotten them all without problem (my first try) so far.

I was afraid for those two levels you'd have to do something special like get a big time bonus or something. I guess I'll just kill everything in sight.

Thats prolly just as easy. I use 3 silver skulls of course as they have no effect other than making me laugh:lol

IWHBYD rocks. Playing with 4 friends listening out for weird dialog is like way fun!

EDIT: actually what multiplier does playing on heroic give? You might find it easier(and quicker to drop it to normal(1x) and put a few more skulls on. That will give you a higher net multiplier for each kill and as its on normal you should have much trouble. Just stay away from Tilt, Iron, Mythic and Black Eye(I remembered! Black Eye is a BITCH!)

I like to set a few general rules to playing king of the hill to the masses.

Im average at Halo 3. I can win given the right environment (I rock at The Pit and Isolation for some reason and am terrible at Snowbound.), but you wouldnt confuse me for a skill player.

I have not lost at King of the Hill yet.

1) Be inside the hill. You think this would be simple. Yet I see every game, people walking outside the hill to kill someone. That K/D ratio is not helping you win this game.

2) Do not fire on enemies in firefights, especially while in the hill. Wait until one dies, then kill the other. Double kills get you nothing and it only brings attention on to yourself.

3) Do not go out of your way to kill someone who is not in the hill. I have seen players have firefights on the complete other side of the stage while I rack up points.

4) And the most important rule of them all: GO AFTER THE LEADER FIRST. If Im winning by 20 seconds and the guy im fighting with is in dead last, why are you trying to kill him first?

Dont even get me started on Territories, VIP, or CTF. If it isnt Slayer most people have no idea of tactical reasoning.

?? It was Bungie's choice to make forerunner architecture so repetitive. There's no reason to believe they wouldn't make the same choice in another franchise.

I may be dumb but how do I join online co=op games and Forge games? Or are they friends only?
Yeah, you have to invite people, or have your party open, in which case friends and recent players could join if they happened to look at your name and notice that they could join.

So, a couple buddies and I played the first level metagame on legendary with 4 or 5 skulls enabled and fucking annihilated it. Scored ~51K points.

Are they all that easy? We blew through it in about 20 minutes or so.
