I wonder how he got it on.

this guy carved out the inside in my shop class. put some padding on it so it would not kill and it's wearable for a head as small as it is and yea when I asked him he was going to put it on his cat.

Okay, so I absolutely love Forge. I probably would have spent $60 just for Forge. But I want two simple things in a Forge update, Bungie guys. Really simple.

1.) Group and Ungroup command. You're already doing this, as is easy to tell when I bring a fusion coil next to a row of twelve fusion coils, because all twelve of them jump as they ungroup for placement (less jump would be appreciated, too). This would be a huge improvement in complicated work.

2.) More primitive objects. Flat planes, triangular wedges, spheres. Especially flat planes. Just flat planes and a group/ungroup would significantly increase the complexity of the stuff we could build.

So I just beat Mission 8 on Legendary.
I guess this is what y'all were referring to as "Cortana"?
Was this mission supposed to be hard? I blew through missions 7 and 8 with but a few deaths. Brutes are so much harder than
Flood
it's ridiculous. Even those annoying
Flood sniper-needler spider thingies :lol
are easy to beat.

I hope the ending is worth the struggle I endured early, cause right now it's a little anti-climactic. :/

That's what I've been saying since I beat the game solo on Legendary.
The Flood really aren't that tough
...that doesn't make the level wholly enjoyable, but it's not the uphill frustration-fest some contest it to be.

Just because it needs to be repeated again and again:

HALO 3 MULTIPLAYER IS SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN HALO 2 MULTIPLAYER

I am in love with this game. It has my heart, my soul, my mind, my wallet, and my sleep.

Halo's multiplayer taken hold of my life again like only the first few weeks of Halo 2 did. I have to get up at 5 AM every morning and I still find myself playing until midnight. Damn you Bungie for creating a game that preys on my lack of self-control!

Maybe you just have insanely mad skillz? I know they gave me a tough time, but then again, I stayed around to make sure I defeated them all. I made sure each and every one of the bastards were dead. :P

On legendary they are easier in comparison as they dont throw grenades or move around much. When compared to a legendary brute that is.... he's correct. It's the tight quarters that made them such a chore.

No, the Flood just aren't that hard. Grab a sword and you'll kill everything with one hit. It's not like they're hardly available at level 8 either. Those spider things are easily countered by deployable cover too (which you can shoot through with human weapons), but I don't remember if that level had any Battle Rifles.

This is true. I didn't take into consideration that you fight the Flood in super tight corridors, while you fight the Brutes in gigantic open areas. Jesus, now that I think about it, the Brutes would be damn near impossible to beat if you were to fight them in an environment like that on
Gravemind's High Charity
.

I take back what I stated earlier. (about Brute rape-time on Tsavo Highway compared to
Cortana
is child's play) I definitely overstated the case. Although, I did have a harder time with the Flood. Level nine wasn't too bad though. (which was an open area) I think it's accurate to say that the Flood + close quarters = bad news.

Wait, what? Where are they readily available at? (I only saw four the entire time, two of which only had a few hits left on 'em) The only time I saw them being every remotely available is towards the end,
right after you get Cortana and you have to destroy High Charity
. (There were only two available there at that) And yes, there were a few Battle Rifles here and there. (Did I miss an area or something?)

I just mad an epic comeback... from 6 kills (losing by 7 or so) and having my worst game ever, and winning by 4 points four minutes later. When Bungie works I'll up it so you can... admire... that epic comeback.

That's odd, those spiders were never able to actually disable a deployable cover in my game (co-op on Heroic). They only got it to orange a couple of times before I killed them, and then it recharged. Haven't played it since though, so I can't help you with their locations.

Had a marine scream out "ACHIEVEMENT!" after gunning down two Brutes in the warthog on Tsavo Highway. It was awesome.

NO IRON SKULL

I don't have it and its not where its supposed to be. Looks like no Hayabusa armor for me ;(
You can't use an insertion point.

I meant the Energy Swords. Sorry, I should specified more. About the deployable cover, however, I was lucky to run into even one. I did find three cloaks and two bubble shield power ups throughout the level, though. (which helped out a ton)

:lol I have FAR from insanely mad skillz. Maybe 7 or 8 years ago when I was in college and had better reflexes. It's just the brutes have so much damage negation with their armor, and the fact that unless you hit them from melee range or from long range with a sniper or beam rifle, they don't stop firing even while taking damage. And on Legendary they are just as accurate (if not moreso) than you. :O

So I finally beat the game. Interesting ending. The bonus Legendary ending after the credits is more satisfying. I guess we are supposed to understand that
Chief successfully destroyed the Gravemind on the High Charity, destroyed the Ark AND all of the Halo Rings and is in cryo-sleep on the ship headed to....the Shield World? Or to reunite with the other Spartans? Kinda confused. And secondly, why didn't all of the Halo Rings fire (and extinguish all life in the galaxy) when Truth forced the Sarge to activate the control panel?
Am I missing something?

I love the Marine's dialogue in Halo 3. On the level
'The Ark', Miranda will drop of a few Scorpions, a few Warthogs, and a mongoose or two
. I always take the Scorpion to hear a particular piece of dialogue that cracks me up every time. A few Ghosts, two Hunters, and a Wraith will appear on your way back to
343 Guilty Spark
. When you destroy the ghosts, hunters, and the wraith he'll say the line "Tank beats___", eventually leading up to "Tank beats everything!". :lol

That part was fantastic. :D

Many people seem to have the same theory. What I really want is (Minor Halo novel spoilers?)
the next game in the series to feature the remaining Spartan II and III's that were alive at the end of Ghosts of Onyx. They could make it squad-based or something since they hired they Rainbow Six lead designer, if I remember correctly.

Yes, yes! Exactly. Here's hoping. :D

Another detail I love about this game, is that the soldiers that survive battles move on to the next ones.

Those two guys with the fuel rod, and laser guns arrived very early during mission 7. I gave them those weapons, and the sections with them so far have been a breeze.

They arrived when I first got the warthog during the level, and waited while I disabled tower 1. During the Hornet sequence, they boarded the Hornet with me, and were awesome during the battle. After I arrived to tower 3, they waited while I disabled it, and now have joined me with the Scorpion.

THEY'RE MY BUDDIES.

I still haven't played Infection, does anyone know which playlist on matchmaking has Infection on it, is it Big team battle, Team Objective? Please advise. Thanks.

My two new map variants, Fireworks and Fireworks 2, are online in my file share. Both feature obstacles made of perpetual explosions in strategic locations. Original maps are Valhalla and Narrows, respectively.

Heh... you're rocking the same setup as me when I got the 1000/1000, even in the same level I first wore it in, with the Hammer on my back and everything... except that my primary color is blue... :)

And the Marathon helmet looks sooooo much better than it did in somebody's avatar here on GAF as your pic shows - I'll be unveiling my new armor starting tomorrow! So badass with the Dragon Sword (it really is Ryu Hayabusa's sword exactly) - and after using the Marathon helmet for a few days, I'll go back to the Hayabusa helmet for the complete image...

P.S.: Ever since Halo 3 came out, I haven't gone to bed at a reasonable time - such an awesome game, and has really surpassed any multiplayer experience I've had before on any platform - kudos once again to Bungie for this piece of work!

Yeah, I had the same two guys with me as well for almost the whole mission as well, doesn't hurt when one of those ODSTs is voiced by Adam Baldwin (from Firefly).

Was standing looking at him and admiring the detail of the models when he said "What? You never seen a ladies man before?" and then I stared some more and he said "If you keep looking I'm going to have to report you to HR" :lol :lol

Also, finally managed to get 1000/1000, the three ones I had left were Overkill, Two for One and Steppin Razor. Been playing Lone Wolves, just going for the achievments and not playing to win (i.e picking up only the Spartan Laser or Sword and trying to ge the achievments) so I didn't have to rank up too much. Now I can just play to win (and in whatever gametype).

I've played up to the part where you fight two scarabs..so pretty much near the end I guess.

I'll sum up my relative impressions as follows -

Halo 3 >> Halo 2 >>>>> Halo 1

I've been highly critical of Halo 1 in the past for it's repetitiveness but I think Halo 2 (which I finally got around to beating last week) and particularly Halo 3 don't suffer from that problem. Halo 3 contains a very, very good sp game IMO. Not quite up there with the lofty heights of Bioshock, but damn good regardless.

Ok so I just encountered a really strange glitch while playing a game of Duel on The Pit with a buddy of mine. At one point during the match he became completely immune to everything I shot at him, I unloaded 5 or 6 rounds from my sniper rifle (3 to the head) and an entire clip from my battle rifle, with nothing to show for it except for the blood splattering out of him... and no there was no special power ups or anything like that.

I saved a clip titled "WTF?" if anyone wants to check it out, here's a screenshot of a sniper round bursting through his skull. You can clearly see that I hit him, yet he never lost even a bit of health.

I'm trying to get the IWHBYD skull. It's hard. Do I have to "kill" Truth before I try to jump through the rings ?

Kill everything and go through the cutscene then kill all the flood after the cutscene. After that you can jump through the rings.

Yeah, I got it yesterday. Go all the way down the hall, then after the cutscene clear out all the flood and jump through the rings in order. They should start glowing if you did it correctly.
Edit: Beaten ^

okay - very late on this but here is my SUPER BIASED XBOT take on Halo 3 - coop , 2 players ... on Heroic (stop laughing)

+++ AI and general "stuff going on" is crazy - replaying sections, different things happen each time, there are a multitude of ways to approach each section and i`m sure everyones take on each stage will be different.
+ graphically, i thought the game was pretty good
+ music is as awesome as ever
+ COOP mode still awesome - not tried online, but lan play was great
+ theater mode... :O nice!

- the story... i gave up trying to understand what was going on
- plot twists for the sake of plot twists
-
Charlotte Bronte levels of genocide, can we just have SOMEONE survive? I`m no longer surprised!
- a feeling of revisiting each level , going to similar places started to become tiring
- game started off interesting and a bit new, but then rapidly went back to its roots. The Halo part of this series needs to die a horrible death, it`s like a millstone around the series.
- massive dejavu - started to feel like a Halo 1 and Halo 2 remix in terms of levels
- graphic glitches (pop in particular) became more prelevant in the later levels, but not seeing as bad as others (or my standards are lower!)
- some areas in coop where we were "magic invisible walled"
- coop respawns sometimes lead to instadeath
- one particularly horrific level :(
- sound balancing is all wrong for my set up - guns sound like pea shooters and a lot of the voice acting is lost in the mix, no options to fiddle with (that i could see)
- hilarious "Scarab in the sky" bug where it was floating high above one of the levels.

There are a lot of negatives in there, but as i care about this franchise i`m ultra picky on this because i want these issues to be addressed if possible. The graphics could be better, but they are more than good enough IMO, i`m more concerned about the sound and level reuse/design issues. However, in the end, i enjoyed the game massively - the action is what sets it apart and the way the gunbattles play out is unrivalled IMO.

As i say, there are a whole host of minor issues (and one or two major concerns) that i hope can be addressed for the next installment - we really need new settings, we need new environments and new settings for us to play through. Halo has been a blast , but i feel the rings and the weights it ties to the game potentially hurt this installment.

Is it possible for the blue dots of a burnt out GPU to just.. go away? I was getting a jittery screen with blue (and then red) shit all over it when I was playing before (within 5 minutes of turning it on). Then I put it on again (played a few minutes of a mission, then watched Big Lebowski) with no problems.

So was it some weird glitch, or can a roasted GPU work off and on?
