Do weapons have different lunge distances? Maybe that is why I'm getting beaten on so many melee attacks.

I bought the game last Monday at midnight, and I beat it just now. How is this possible? ONE week! Maybe I'm better at FPS's than I think? I played the game on NORMAL, and I'm usually just atrocious at FPS games. I never played Halo 1 or 2.

Try it on Heroic. Completely different — and much better — game.

It's the quick post-shot.

Most weapons, shotty included, require you to wait a second or so after firing to Melee. The mauler doesn't have this wait time, so you can shoot+melee all in one(ish) motion for an instant kill.

Good players are good at it. Noobs... not so much. They pull the trigger too early.

I think all the dual weapons have lunges with their melee. The others like the BR don’t except for the shotgun.

I believe they want to give their matchmaking code some time to filter out who the good hosts are first (also why it's limited to 6v6 right now, to minimise the number of games where it picks a bad host and becomes unplayable).

Helmet = 1000 Gamerscore

It's a piece of body armour, like any other. You can choose to wear it or something else.

you can have just Hayabusa Chest, or Kitana Chest which is Hayabusa with Katana on back.

or of course you can pick another Chest plate.
