We used to do it at school, it's a fitness test, you run from one side of a hall to the other, and you have to get there before the bleep. The bleeps get closer and closer together as time goes on, eventually you pretend to pull a hamstring and give up (or was that just me?)

spot on.

Narrows

A vip point at every end swapping after 30 secs, you have a shotgun and your feet :D

I was gonna post a picture of a malnourished kid but just didn't have the heart. :(

Major thanks to both Ramirez and arhra for helping me out with how to lower your weapon.

You guys remember the incredibly awesome Gamersyde screenshot they released a few weeks ago, right? You know, this one? Well, I tried to recreate that screenshot. I know it's not quite as good, but hopefully some of you will like it. (just click on it for a much larger version)

Is there a certan reason why moderate settings in the NAT area fail to work well? being here at uni for 2 more years i'm stuck with it, while matchmaking works no problem so far joining friends games is realy terrible and a bit upsetting.

Would it work if the hosting player was open NAT, then moderate could join? I have no way to change from moderate and its realy starting to hurt my live experiance more and more. my old xbox on live never had this problem.

I know there's a Forge thread somewhere, but I can't find it, and I've got a question. I need to know if there's any way to force a VIP to start and respawn from a specific spawn point.

I'm working on a High Ground map variant I'm calling Prison, where the computer room is walled off with barriers (plus some added flood lights, roadblocks, and turrets to make it more "prisoney"). The game type is a variant on VIP escort I'm calling Jailbreak. Basically the idea is that the team with the VIP starts at the beach with a bunch of Mongeese, rocket launchers, and gravity hammers, and they need to get up to the "jail" and break the VIP out of the walled off computer room (it's nearly impossible for the VIP to get himself out), and get him down to the beach.

But the whole idea hinges on the VIP starting in the computer room and respawning in the computer room if he dies.

The lag in this game is getting pretty annoying now. Every other game is a complete lag-fest.

I was having the craziest like skiptrips into an alternate dimension, especially on Isolation, where I would be on the map, nearly everyone else was dead and the score never changed. Then suddenly I'd skip back to Earth 1 and the game would be almost over.

Then I turned off the BitTorrent client that had been running all day in my apartment.

Whoops.

Why not, instead of an actual VIP, make two Destination Points, one in the room, and one back on the beach that doesn't launch until the first one is found, and that only the offensive team could activate. That way a person doesn't get stuck in that room.

OR make the first member who reaches the "jail" instantly become VIP when he enters the Destination zone. If that is at all possible.

MicVlad just saw your 8minute Laser Juggernaut clip. It's nice that you 'directed' so you can always keep a cool overview on the battle.

I'm loving the game, finished it on Heroic last night. Been playing MP as well, however...

I'm really not a big fan of the "Veto" mechanic and I'd just as soon it was not there. In my experience, it only results in matchmaking taking longer than it should. In some playlists, very often people will complain about the map or gametype and try to persuade others to veto, often very annoyingly. This works most of the time and then you have to sit and wait for ANOTHER map to load. Guess what happens 90% of the time? The game that comes up is even MORE hated by everyone, and you're forced to take that one. So what have we accomplished? Not much other than wasting everyone's time waiting for maps to load twice and putting more wear and tear on the 360's drive.

Just seems pointless to me since people over-use it.

Wow, so (I haven't tried this), but if you hit record, you can move the camera and the saved film follows those moves? Because I love following someone around with like a Roadie Run style camera.

Hmm the first idea is pretty creative, didn't think of that one. I also had the idea of making it capture the flag and just putting the flag in the walled of room instead of a guy. But then it's just capture the flag with a flag that's a bitch to get to. The main point for me is that it's a guy you're trying to help to escape.

Do I seriously have to press the d-pad to talk to mates, thats annoying.

When you have 5 or more team mates-> yes.
When you have 4 or less -> no.

Just curious, you've expressed how much you dislike the game muliple times, why are you still playing it?

Yes. If you have MicVlad on your list go to his fileshare, he took the Laser Juggernaut we had last night and went into free camera and then recorded a clip. When you record a clip it also records your camera movement. At any time the viewer of that clip can choose to take over control camera too.
The cool thing about Laser Juggernaut is that the battle almost flows across the map and you can follow it pretty good.

Doing this is like the absolute funnest thing in the game by far. Having a cool moment occur and then trying to find the best camera position and moves to capture the action. It's almost like its own game because sometimes you'll mess up what you wanted to do and have to start over (which is really easy to do by the way). If you're a creative type you can get lost doing this for hours and hours.

so even if you have 5v5 in customs you still gotta press to talk? i thought customs and ranked were all open mic?

Not sure if anyone has posted this previously, but I was at Costco this morning and they have a $499.99 bundle that consists of:

Halo 3 Xbox 360 ($399.99)
Halo 3 LE ($69.99)
Halo 3 Spartan Controller ($59.99)

Add that buying a console at Costco equals lifetime warranty and it is a pretty damn good deal.

Although I doubt anyone frequenting this thread lacks a 360, let alone Halo 3. :)

Laser Juggernaut was fun. I started it in Isolation without lasers and a much faster juggernaut, and when we moved across to Valhalla I figured we needed some way to bridge the distance. I didn't think you guys would mind everyone starting with a laser:D

WTF the campaign was awesome. Very few games have I ever beaten from start to finish, and doing this one coop was fucking amazing and epic.

As I've raved about before, I'm gaining a new appreciation for Crow's Nest on Legendary. The first barracks battle, the Chieftain at the end. Lots of good stuff in there.

I'm sure everyone else on earth found this the first time through, but I didn't realize you could climb up into the air ducts just after the big Brute pack battle in the hallway. I was toting around my newly acquired Gravity Hammer like a trophy, trying to maneuver close enough to the Brutes to use it, when I saw the ladders going up to the ducts from the second level. Up I go, and find they drop down in several places, usually right behind the Brutes.

Surprise.jpg

I'm in ur ducts, smashin ur brains. Or something like that.

This is one of the biggest changes from Halo 1 and Halo 2 - even in fights that are along indoors areas, there's multiple layers of elevation and ways to approach the enemy. This second trek through has me really appreciating the level design.

Wow. This is pretty fucking staggering news to me. Because I've been having a lot of fun just following people around in saved films.

If I thought I loved The Pit before, imagine how much I'll love it when I turn the Pink v. Brown match into the steadicam shot from Magnolia when Stanley arrives at the Game Show studio!! HOLY SHIT!!!!

Is there any particular reason people don't want to be play Crazy King or Oddball on Lone Wolves? Are they worried about their K/D ratio?

My roommate affectionately refers to Crazy King as "grenade town" and that the object of the game is to become mayor of grenade town. :lol

Grr, Bungie owes me a helmet I think, I just checked the Halo wiki and one is supposed to be unlocked when you get the Used Car Salesman acheivement. I am sad :(

I'm honestly surprised to hear someone say that. Just what didn't you like about it? What made it "a joke"?

In my eyes, the campaign is superior even to classics such as Half-Life 2. They just did an amazing job all around.

DoctorWho said:

I don't think it's the K/D ratio - if they don't care about winning the game, people can rack up kills pretty easily in these games by not carrying the ball or going in the hill. I think people just really like slayer and expect that to come up more often than not in Lone Wolves.

For me I prefer campaign over online. Maybe I'm just not used to it but I find myself looking endlessly through the barren multiplayer maps for someone to kill and it's always me that gets killed out of nowhere. A lot of times I could have sworn there were no one in a corridor as I've just checked and as I turn to another direction I get killed from someone from that corridor.

No gun too. how did you do that?

Yeah, but you get slayer most often so when a different game type pops up, why veto it?

Didn't realize those were available. Might have made it easier for me! :(

Crow's Nest I think is still my favorite level so far (stopped playing at mission 6, resuming (and maybe finishing the game?) tonight.

Even though it took me a whopping 3 hours to get through that one fight with the Brutes (I'm playing on Legendary for the first time, never was able to get past the first mission on Legendary in either Halo 1 or Halo 2), it was such an awesome feeling to look around and see the carnage I had wrought; so badass to watch my level replay as Chief enters and methodically destroys every last Brute. Two men enter, one man leaves! :D

DoctorWho said:

I agree with you. I like them as a change of pace, but I think a lot of people go into Lone Wolves only wanting to run around by themselves and shoot people.

crazy king is grenade town like the other poster said and oddball is melee rape when the ball handler just stands at a shield and melees anyone who walks through it. kids dont seem to understand that you first need to kill the ball guy and then kill each other trying to go for the ball.

LOL

It was tough as heck to beat that level.

Whoa! Let's not get ridiculus here.
I assume you disagree then, huh?

HL2 could be superior if the gunplay were anywhere near as enjoyable as that of Halo, but it's not. It's one of the best games ever made, but Halo 3 had a more exciting campaign for me.

You're going to have a new favorite level shortly. :p

http://www.wired.com/gaming/virtualworlds/news/2007/10/halo_storyline

Interesting little article at Wired about the weapons in Halo 3.

Some of the equipment came about through happy accident. One of the most popular new tools -- the "bubble shield," a pocket of temporary protection from weapons -- nearly didn't make it into the game. Bungie's designers had been bandying it about as a concept, but didn't fully commit to developing it for the game until it was featured in a TV advertisement last December. The ad showed the Master Chief throwing down a bubble shield -- with its distinctive, honeycombed shape -- to survive a missile attack.

It looked so cool that Bungie's employees immediately were sold on it. "Everybody went, 'Hey, hmm, that bubble shield is really awesome," said John Staten, Bungie's cinematic director.
Thank god for that ad, then.
