I found a NEW SKULL!
On the "Cortana" Level. Right before you save Cortana you are in a big circular room with platforms floating over an abyss. After saving her you hit a switch in the middle to lower some reactors you'll need to blow up. On the switch in the middle, jump on top of it and look across the way. Its sitting up and to the right in a pile of bones.
I think its a REAL skull too because I loaded the level up from the rally point and the skull wasn't there anymore. It only appears if you start from the begining.

A grenade will blast the bones away but the skull will stay still. I cannot figure out how to get up to it though. Get on it, GAF! Those of you on my friends list have been sent a screenshot.
Oh shit son!

I managed to get the five sticks (in a normal game not really going for it) and the two for one so i suppose i could get the others, but they will be tough...especially the overkill :lol

:lol

Oh damn, the sticky acheivement, yeah, that's never happening either :lol

Already it's clear there are going to be some battles that emerge as classics in the game. On the first level, it's the big ending sequence the dam,
rescuing Johnson.
On mission two, it's the part that was owning me earlier today, a part I've mentioned as being awesome the first time through on Heroic: the Brute pack in the barracks. <snip>

I tried - and failed - to get past them earlier, after ~10 attempts, but I'm having a hoot getting owned by these guys.
I'll be happy to share out the video of me being owned hard-core over and over should anyone be interested. It's probably more exciting to experience than to watch.
Just. Wow @ this level. I am currently going thru this on Heroic. Tried all the strategies as you have, but there's always a brute who can make it beyond an entire clip loaded into it!

I'm trying not to give up, but I've died about 100 times and it's not getting easier. Like you said, the AI is unpredictable, so you can practice a tactic all you want. It's almost as if they're taking notes on your strategies game after game!

The best I can do so far is start off by unloading the grenades off in the distance to weaken the pack. My checkpoint starts behind the shield, so I'm pretty safe if anyone decides to charge me. I can snipe quite a few back there. Once I run out of grenades and sniper shots, I switch to the rifle and blast away... keeping them from charging at me, while continuing to weaken the lot. Once I run out of all ammo, I leave the sheild to get the hover thing, and whatever weapon the closest brute leaves. Back behind the shield I continue to blast away as they begin to creep up. When I run out of ammo again, I hover up to the upper (edit: right) room, where the shotty is. I back up as far as I can and wait for them to approach the stairwell infront of me. This is the best place I have found where I can try to get the last few. I try to get all headshots before they get to me, but one always makes it thru with the hammer. Over and over again.

This is my 1st Halo, so I'm not a pro, but this is only level 2! Is it really this difficult? How do I get through this? I need to finish this tonight for my sanity. Please Help!

And yeah, I'd like to see your video Ghaleon... be interesting to see your approach!

Honestly with under 10 seconds I ran up on a guy and got him...right after he died the whistle blew...the other 4 came from the grave...I knew i was going down and i took them with me :lol

Took me ages to get that encounter as well, I think the key was to seperate the pack leader when he charges up the bridge (try falling down to the right of the entrance), then just run and gun (and stick if possible) like crazy till he's dead. Take his hammer, and run under the bridge, the grunts on the other side will alert the rest of the brutes and they'll file down through the conviently narrow arch, perfect for a set of clean hammer blows.

It works out differently every time though, I played that again yesterday to get the skull and the fucking arbiter pwned the entire bridge by himself! I killed the 2 jackals on the ledge to the right and when i looked back everyone else was dead.

You can approach it in a number of ways. Staying back isn't going to cut it, because the pack tends to stick together.
"No inappropriate touching!"
But you can draw one or two out by slipping through the openings on the sides of the levels. You should have a shotgun, so one on one, if you're careful, you can take out a few individuals. From there, grenade sticks help a ton, and if you keep your eyes peeled, you'll notice one of the lesser Brutes sent out to flush you from your cover has a gravity lift. If you can get up top, you can do some damage to the back row with a few well placed grenades.

Any way you try it, the keyword is "patience." Brutes are tough foes, but beatable one on one. As a pack, they will cut you down and laugh while they desecrate your corpse.

From what you described, that does in fact sound new as I have all of the currently know skulls - I might check this out later if I'm able to pry myself away from Matchmaking today...

I haven't even played a game of Zombies, or even gone into Forget by myself yet to make my own gametype - that's how jammed-packed this game is... oh boy!

They don't really say that do they?
I heard the Chieftain say it last night, right after telling the pack to move out and find me. :lol

Also, Legendary really makes me appreciate the equipment, even more than Heroic ever did.

ChieftainFlying.jpg

This Chieftain wanted to smash me. I tossed a grav lift right when he jumped - launching him to the back of the room. I was able to get distance and take him out with the carbine. It was a crazy end to an intense encounter.

Gah, I'm back. I got banned for a week for complaining about the Campaign spoilers in the OP of the joke Halo 3 thread, spoilers that were then removed. That whole thing was a barrel of laughs for me.

So I've been playing lots of Halo 3, regular edition since I fear the scratched disks. Sorry Bungie, I'd like to support you more, but I just can't take that risk.

Also that skull on Cortana is just a second Blind skull.

Me and Falk0r went through that with a few skulls turned on for scoring. I think it was Legendary. Not sure. Anyway, that Chieftain owned me so hard with that hammer it wasn't even funny. Kicked on invincibility and backed me up until I was cornered and blam!

I've had that happen to me in my legendary co-op session with squicken this morning. squicken had deployed a graf lift earlier to get higher and I was still on the low ground. The Hammer Brute comes after me and I'm running back and as he jumps and wants to hammer me he gets caught in the uplift force of the graf lift sending over me. So crazy.

So, that GAF game I mentioned earlier, the chaotic Juggernaut one with lasers everywhere (Tieno, MMaRsu, Charsace, and plenty of others know which one I'm talking about)... Decided I should take a couple of teaser screens and create a clip just to show how hectic it really was. My camera angles aren't always that good though (wish you could pause in the middle of a record, then resume when you're ready), but everyone should get the gist of it after you're done watching. It's available on the last slot of my File Share and hope you guys enjoy watching it. Mind you, I didn't invent this particular mode: I think CharsAce did, but I could be easily wrong about this.

Me trying to splatter KidInsomnia or XAnubis, aka the Juggernaut.

2350915-Full.jpg

Being chased down after I became the Juggernaut.

2351263-Full.jpg

Same here, but with more people this time around.

2352320-Full.jpg

Anubis or KidInsomnia is about to get splattered by a Banshee. MMaRsu died twice like this.

2352956-Full.jpg

The Juggernaut (not me) almost getting hit by the laser.

Almost everybody duking it out in the middle.

Yesterday a few of my friends said something about invincibility...and glowing blue hands. Did I miss something?

Invincibility is one of the X button deployables. When you use it, you glow blue.

I can't figure out how to luck with the rocket. Sometime it would, sometime it wouldn't.

Anyone have an idea?

you mean lock? I know the missle pod still locks but i didnt think the rocket launcher did.

I'd like to try the pirates and rocket race game modes, but no one on my friends list ever seems to be playing those. If anyone plays them regularly, please add me - GTag is gkrykewy.

so i figured out a new way to take down a scarab, by taking out the side panels and then the rear.

i <3 this game.

BTw, what does the IWHBYD skull do? Just add extra dialouge?

There are thousands of combat lines, some are very rare. I think the IWHBYD inverses the skip fractions so you can hear the rare dialog more often.

I'm working on getting some shots of one of our storied Pink v. Brown matches.

Who would have guessed that picking a friggin color and staying that color would be the most difficult task in the whole game? :lol

My connection at school is being incredibly inconsistent all of the sudden and disconnecting me from games. I've now list 5 EXP points in a row because of it. It's getting pretty annoying. I called our provider and they might have to come install a whole new jack. The one we have is shit.

Speaking of dialog ...I am sure you all have heard the 'password' conversation right?

For myself, playing solo on Legendary, I immediately moved up from behind that shield to the right and placed myself between that barrier and the weapon rack that has the battle rifle. From there it was chucking grenades, preferably a sticky to start, right around the corner into the pack to thin 'em out as much as possible. Once I was all out, I stayed in that corner and picked them off one by one--sometimes they'd try to flank me by going around the barrier but I had the shotgun for when they got too close. Eventually, Big Guy With Hammer will rush you so just make with the head shots (and any more 'nades if you have them) until he goes down.

It's tough but beatable. Currently on Mission 5 now and this particular battle on Mission 2 was the last to really give me a problem.

Yeah...I went back on co-op to show some friends and the conversation was slightly different.

Heh, yep, heard that on my first play through. I took a wrong turn and ended up waiting for
the door to open
, laughing my arse off! I then worked out the right way to go.

Oddball or Crazy King on Isolation is your friend for that.
Crazy king would seem to be better, just floor the goose into one of the two above ground spots after theyve had a chance to chuck grenades at each other. Also a grenade that sends a mongoose flying into someone will count as a splatter if it kills them.

Same thing for the Two For One achievement. Just wait till a Crazy King on Snowbound.

As for the sword one, I've had people in the pre-match lobby try to plan it when shitty maps pop up like Construct and... Construct.

Just had an incredible VIP game.
I sticky a banshee for the second time, just moments after I had done a splatter spree with a banshee where I killed the VIP a couple of times.

Like, The Green Apple Splatters? I'm not sure what you're referring to....

We used to do it at school, it's a fitness test, you run from one side of a hall to the other, and you have to get there before the bleep. The bleeps get closer and closer together as time goes on, eventually you pretend to pull a hamstring and give up (or was that just me?)

Where does the trip mine spawn on Valhalla and High Ground? And does the Power Drain destroy vehicles? (I want my achievement. >.<)
