It's not 60fps, you're fast fowarding the film clip.

It is running at 60 fps.

lol I was wandering what the hell he was talking about.... 30fps @ 2x fast forward = 60fps!!! LMAO HILARIOUS!!!

Are you retarded? I said it was running at 60 fps. What part of 60 fps do you not understand?

Just completed the game! Amazing experience! My only complaint are the bit too similar last level (when compared to Halo1) and on the whole the game was bit on the short side. I want it to continue forever... :(

anyway, Thanks Bungie!

I still don't get the hate towards
level 8, Cortana. I just played it on Legendary the other day with two friends and yeah, it's a tough level, but I like the challenge and you just need to find out how to tackle the shooting flood. But the creepy atmosphere, Graveminds changing mood and everything that is going on... I really loved that level in some ways. Where the Chief meets up with Cortana, when the Arbiter comes to rescue them and so on... beautiful

What the hell is your problem? The way you worded it it sounded like you talking about in game(while you were playing). So youre saying you got the game running at 60fps in normal motion? ie. not fast forward?

Ok, first attempt.

let's see if this works

how do you get it to display at full res?

The size youve got there is big enough man. If you do full res it will stretch the page out. I deliberately shrink my pics down to 800 pixels across in photoshop. This makes them browser friendly.

is there a way to view them at higher res on bungie's site?

Uh huh. Click on the image that you want to see. It will open the mini viewer. Then click on that and it will download to your PC. Then open the file and view it at its proper resolution!

Just finished the main campaign. Solo-ed normal till chapter 7 and played online 4 player co-op Legendary for chapter 8 and 9. After that, I hit online and got in some decent team slayer matches.

You know, because I never did play the mutliplayer portions of Halo 1 and 2, I thought that the series was highly overrated. Sure, the combat was fun but goddamnit, the repetitiveness of the combat environment in both games were terrible. So I'm pleasantly surprised that the campaign in Halo 3 is just so well-crafted. The pacing is excellent and the length is PERFECT. I've played countless shooters where I lose interest in the game when I'm barely halfway through. Half-Life 1 and 2, Metroid Prime, Halo 1 and 2 (finished both games on co-op though), No One Lives Forever, the original Ghost Recon, GRAW, some Rainbow Sixes, Medal of Honour and countless others were games that I just lost interest at some point in the main campaign. It's really refreshing to play a SP campaign that offers a consistent experience that manages to remain fun throughout and where it does not drag on for too long.

And I can't believe it's only in Halo 3 that I truly appreciate the combat of Halo. The number of weapons is fantastic and so are the many scenarios that occur. You've got close-quarter combat in tight hallways as well as epic outdoor battles involving scarabs and flying things. The best part of all this is that there really is no one fixed way to tackle a situation. The combat is so good and the environments are so well-designed that anything is possible.

While the graphics were initially a huge disappointment for me, it gradually dawned on me that it's just unrealistic to expect Gears-level of graphics because the game throws so many damn enemies and allies onscreen at the same time in massive environments with noticeable loads taking place only every chapter. It's a tradeoff but one is that probably necessary in the context of the game. Oh, and the model and animation for the Energy Sword is just so awesome.

Finally, the game tops it off with a fantastic soundtrack. The main theme is epic and every other tune that accompanies every situation in the game is just so good. And just like the graphics and animation, the sound that the Energy Sword makes when you take it out as well as upon impact is just too awesome.

Overall, I really didn't expect much from Halo 3 after being disappointed by the previous two games but it's been such a huge pleasant surprise for me. Definitely one of the best games this generation and one of the best games ever.

I was disappointed when I first started too, probably because I was swimming in launch nite hype, but when I went back to start looking for skulls, I was amazed at how much better it looked than I thought. Don't ask me why, but it really did....

Anyway. I shall spend today hitting up skulls and terminals, as our forefathers did.

While I don't care that much for its look compared to other levels of the game, Crow's Nest on legendary so far is amazing. The brutepack fight in the barracks is incredibly hard as I always got hammered (took me 35minutes), but then I found a very useful tactic. Grav lift to higher ground, wait in one of the siderooms for the brutes to come at you, shotgun to the face and then quick melee, usually downs them. I love these sort of charge tactics, very intense. I love trying to sneak up on brutes, seeing where they're going, then flanking them.
But then the area after that is even better. There are basically three levels. Ground level, then midlevel and then there are vent tubes that you can use to gain ground and sneek up on the brutes. I did just that and came into a room full of brutes. Shotgun to the face and melee, back out, flank from other side, etc. So intense.

On legendary you're pushed even more to make use of the environment and design and what they give you.

was that whole post a way just to slip that in?

are you playing on a crap tv or something?

the graphics on my set are stunning. just walk up to a ghost and look at the reflections and layered details, the vibrancy of the colors and so forth.

no it's not all grungy like gears but that is one of the biggest appealing things about it.

It's breathing with life!

I miss the days of fighting elites and grunts on legendary. They would flank you, chase you down, use great cover, etc. The brutes just sit there. The grunts use better fighting tactics. Seems like the campaign relies on overpowering you with numbers now rather than AI being that great.

It's part of the pack AI being too strong. They will only charge you down once they go berserk or lose their leader or on rare occasions get bored or something. Otherwise they are always yelling at each other to stay in rank. Aside from that, there is a problem where they seem to think their cover is better than it actually is.

So rocket race. One of the games had an epic start. We all rush to the geese, with the Evil Blues making it a bit before us and expressing their dastardliness as quickly as possible.

And the first checkpoint spawned so close. We must deny them their ill-gained victory!

This must be the racing equivalent of teabagging.

Andokuky i have to agree with you there. i did the first two levels on legendary and found it really mundane experience no fun at all, mostly just trying to pick brutes off from a distance one by one which is boring. changed it to normal and was more fun, will try out herioic see how that plays out.

Final level spoilers:

Last level is soooo Halo 1, especially after that robo bitch betrays you, fucking epic.

I just finished the game. The last level is true excellence in level design and atmospheric gameplay. Even though the game is continually gorgeous, that last level was just so visually impressive. I died a few times because I just stared at everything going on around me

Best solo game I've played all year. I honestly didn't expect it to beat Bioshock but it has done

So what's this XBL Public some people are talking about? It was supposed to be in Halo 3 but it didn't make the cut? What's it all about??

I finished the campaign on normal and heroic. Heroic did make things harder, but still it wasn't ultra-hard or something. Legendary is next. Oh boy. Also, I will try to get the remaining skulls on Legendary mode.

Man, I love this game. BTB on Sandtrap is soooooooo good. I'll be online this afternoon if anyone wants to play.

Me about to run over two people at the same time on my way to a Triple Kill:

I made a clip of this, it's in my file share if you guys want to check it out. [/plug]

hey guys anyone want to help me out with my game mode.

Needs balance and tweaks.

Basically its a DDay Beach Storm level for Halo (like every WW shooter)

It uses the Last Resort front beach section on teritorys.

Attacking team starts on beach and has to make it up to the wall and clam it.

Defendes start at the wall have turrets and big guns.

Plenty of cover in the sea with crates etc..

Its in my file share here

http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/FileShare.aspx?gamertag=Gowans007

Need to just get plenty of people to play and balance ect.. and edit the game type for maxium fun :D

Send me a FR and ill invite you in.

ZOMG at Storm the Beach (Gowans's custom map and gametype) on Last Resort. I was smiling when I joined the game. It changes the map in a real cool way.

Humans are not Forerunner[/url]. Go read the terminals (read them in-game, to get the achievement, obviously, but that site has a full transcription of all their contents, which is handy as you don't get long to read some of it).
They contain a series of dialogues between two Forerunners - referred to as Librarian (who it's revealed early on to be working on the categorization and archival of sentient lifeforms, and on Earth judging by the fairly heavy-handed hints given) and Didact (seemingly Librarian's lover, and somewhere behind the line of battle with the Flood)
.

A few parts from various ones:

(emphasis mine)

If i'm interpreting things right (
the Librarian is on Earth, as indicated by the mention of a portal mechanism buried in the desert near the foot of a lone snowcapped mountain, which fits the portal excavated in the game perfectly, with the mountain being Mt. Kilimanjaro
), it seems that
the Forerunners discovered Earth, and humanity, and decided there was something unusual and special about us, and when they built the Halos and related paraphernalia decided we should be their successor race of sorts (the Reclaimers of their abandoned technology).
Thanks for infos!

Are they decent quality? I think I'll just get another Wired normal.

Could be, or a Forerunner. I haven't read all of the terminals yet, but I do think Mendicant Bias is, or is connected to Adjutant Reflex or whatever took it over.

'Contender AI 05-032<//>Mendicant Bias ....'

= MB_05_032.jpg AKA New AR's avatar. Mendicant means to beg or rely on charitable donation.

There's also another AI named Offensive Bias made to counter Mendicant Bias.

It could make sense that MB is the original AR, and OB is New AR. Although it seems logistically it should be the other way around...

Confusing?

MB is an AI made by the Didact to coordinate a galactic offensive against the Flood, most likely in order to rescue the Librarian instead of resorting to using the Halo array. As you go through the terminals you finally learn the secret of the Forerunner's defeat. They were betrayed by Mendicant Bias who lead the Flood right past the Line breaking the stalemate between the Forerunner and Flood. Thus the Array was fired and the Didact began the Great Journey.

If you find the final terminal on Legendary you discover MB has been acting in the background all along, and betrays the Flood to assist you in order to find redemption.

what the hell is with the save system, i finished the 5th act last night, got the achievment, turned it off after the cut scene, turned it on today and at the beginning of the 5th act where i have to disable the anti air missiles

You have to save and quit before you turn it off. It's not like GoW, the checkpoint saves aren't saved after you turn off the system.

I always check other people's profiles on Xbox Live, and 75% of the guys I meet online are playing the campaign at Normal difficulty. They're missing out on so much.
