EvaPlusMinus said:to be honest, it is pretty damn powerful up close. I'd say even more so than the Shotgun. The balance, is that med-long range, it's like the most useless weapon in the game. The shotgun has a bit better range than it, but thats about it.
op_ivy said:hmm, i'd say the shot gun is definitely more powerful at point blank and at a bit further out. it does everything the mauler does, but better. the thing is, the mauler is still powerful enough to kill in one close shot and melee, just like the shotgun. it can also be duel weilded with a longer range weapon to help in closing the gap.
but in my experience, if you have a single mauler (i typically dont duel) and you go up against a shotgun, you will lose.
Hitler Stole My Potato said:One question - I'm sure it's been asked before but how do you take screenshots and make films in the single player campaign? I can't seem to figure that out.
Cornballer said:Like most of you, I <3 new needler. I get such a kick out of blowing someone up with it.
I haven't had much success with the mauler yet. Is there a map with two of them that are located close to each other? I'd like to run around dual-wielding shotties like the Marathon days. I find spikers in pairs all the time, but not so much with the mauler.

Thanks, I'll take a look next time I'm playing on one of those maps.op_ivy said:on the map with the bridge in the center (still dont know names) there are two towards the base sides of the top bridge. on isolation there are single maulers by each purple grav lift (which are fairly close to each other), on contruct they are right by the purple lifts again (again close to each other) and you can find a few lone ones placed on guardian
Mr Vociferous said:So for those who were a little miffed (or a lot miffed) that I was starting on Halo 3 with Normal, do not fret. Today I finished on Legendary solo. Out of sincere curiosity, who else, other than Luke, has done this on GAF? I'd say the jump between Heroic and Legendary is pretty significant, not nearly as steep as Halo 2, but considerably more than Halo 1 - at least right now.
Funz.

Done. Though I don't think anyone reads that.....GDJustin said:I present to GAF THE OFFICIAL NEOGAF FORGE & CUSTOM MAP SHARING TOPIC

You get points from 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in a five person FFA game, as I understand it.DoctorWho said:Who keeps saying that you only gain exp by finish in first? I've been gaining some by finishing on second as well in Lone Wolves. Just gained 2 points right now from a second place finish.

Widescreen has a lot more detail on the sides, obviously. Pictures taken from around 3.5ft from a 21" flat CRT with a K-M Maxxum 5D with a 50mm lens @ f/4 and 1/20s, ISO 800.
GDJustin said:I present to GAF THE OFFICIAL NEOGAF FORGE & CUSTOM MAP SHARING TOPIC
This is NOT a topic to discuss pirates and rocket race, as awesome as they may be. This is a place for content CREATORS to spotlight their custom game types and forge maps, receive feedback, remix other member's ideas, and for us all to just support each other's creativity in general.
Riffing on each other's ideas and allowing game types and maps to evolve through feedback and playtesting is strong encouraged!
I really believe that the creativity of NeoGAF can lead to us creating some crazy gametype that could spread through the entire Halo 3 community. I believe one of us will come up with the initial idea, and then the rest of us will take it and run with it and tweak it to perfection.
Edit: Ghaleon, if you're still here, an OP update would be appreciated.

Yup, that's how you have to do it. They're tough. The running riot in particular will be hard for me.SanjuroTsubaki said:Is the only way to get the online achievements for FFA only apply to Lone Wolf? Seems kind of hard to get a 4 person kill when being matched up with usually 3 other people.
Seems like that might be the case, but it's still somewhat unclear how many points are being given out for FFA vs team matches.ALeperMessiah said:Hmm, so if you want massive Exp, play lone wolves.

Thanks for the clarification. My confusion was regarding FFA where some people were claiming to have received more than 1pt for a single match. I haven't played any Lone Wolves yet, so I couldn't confirm or deny for myself.GDJustin said:The EXP system is simple...

Defending the door against an army of flood? Charging those ramps with a flamethrower? finally getting to kill Spark? The frantic warthog escape? How could you hate on that awesomeness?
