Halo 3 sells over 50,000 copies in the first 24 hours in Australia - or to nearly 1/4 of the entire 360 userbase. (And yes, MS did the "biggest entertainment launch of all time" line again over there. For some reason that annoys the hell out of me.) I thought it was nice to get some numbers from at least one territory.
Completed the 4th nad 5th level yesterday. Cut Scene at end of 5th level was awesome, the voice acting, music,
Seeing Cortana again
,
Finally some help from the damn Elites
and the dialouge, the tension,
MC saying how he trusts Cortana
- Amazing. Though the opening cutscene still ranks as the best for me till now.
But man fighting the flood again was both a fun and terrifying experience. I still don't know how I escaped with zero deaths in that level. And the way the landscape changes after the flood arrives was very well done.

Yeah, read it on Gamespot yesterday. That also means that the number of 360 owners in Australia is 200,000. I don't know how that compares to the Xbox sales over there though.

Thats when they follow Truth right? Yes, that was great too. I am digging the cutscenes in Halo 3 a lot more than Halo 2. Although I miss the "Cortana comments" from the previous games.
Question:
Do they explain later on, why MC is seeing/hearing Cortana even though she is somewhere else. These are those moments when she appears on the screen and says those wonderful lines from the trailers. You slow down to a crawl. Just a Yes/No answer would be good.

I'm not sure that it's explained, however a lot of the things Cortana says are flashbacks to Master Chief's childhood. You can find a lot of them in the Fall of Reach novel.

Yeah, I never saw an explanation either. Same goes for the Gravemind...he sort of went out with a whimper, huh? It didn't make sense how he could get into your head at times either. I guess he might just have enough psychic ability to do so. Maybe Cortana was leeching that ability to some extent. That could possibly explain things.
It was really awesome.. with the Elites, MC, Marines, Arbiter and Guilty Spark all gearing up for the fight. Really really cool scene... the game got SOOOOO good right after that too.
I wish they'd done the skulls like the cheats in Goldeneye, making you complete a level a certain way to get them rather than hunting through every obscure place you can think of. It's gonna be a pain in the ass to go get all the ones I want to play with.

I need someone's help to just complete the first mission on co-op. It is the last one I need to get all of the skull emblems for solo and co-op. Anyone there want to blaze through the first mission let me know.

I thought it was obvious that a) Gravemind is psychic and can send and read thoughts b) Gravemind is torturing and controlling Cortana c) Cortana is fighting Gravemind as best she can and d) Cortana is communicating with you through Gravemind's psychic ability because they're intimately linked and Gravemind is pushing Cortana towards insanity.
Then again, I thought it was very obvious in Halo 2 that Gravemind was the hive mind and incarnation of the Flood's intelligence and apparently some people didn't get it.

I think that psychic ability is what was going on.. given that he can control the flood from great distance, why couldnt he talk to MC.. I also took that as Cortona leaching his abilities.. becoming part of the flood..
I also agree.. they should have done *something* at the end of the level "Cortona" with Gravemind. But then it would be hard to explain why the flood were so well organized in the last level to fight you.. I also wish they let you fight the Prophet Truth instead of just a cinematic.. the gameplay was great, those are just the last two things that I wished you could do in the game.. they allready gave me my dream of killing guilty spark though. :lol

Same here, with the exception that I die when they get pissed....
And I don´t know what the deal with the Arbyter is. He always gets killed before I could spell "believe", and only resurrects when I step over him. Of course I die the instant i do this.
Damn, I need someone for co-op help.
, you can fight all those battles on foot with success.. in fact, Ive found on Legendary more often than not I wind up walking down the Tsavo highway because they all get destroyed.
Not to mention, every level with vehicles forces you to get out of them at a certain point. I think its just there are several levels in a row
Tsavo, Ark, Covenent
where a huge chunk of the level is spent in a vehicle, and they are all sort of clustered together in the game.. so it goes
Beginning of game: No vehicles.. middle of game: Tons of vehicles.. End of game: No vehicles (except the very very end)..
even all that said, huge chunks of the first game were vehicular based (or at least could be if you managed to get ahold of one of the covenent vehicles) and even more of the second game was vehicle based. Halo isnt a strict FPS, vehicles have allways been a huge part of it.
What's the "Last" skull? Me and some friends found one last night that was very well hidden at the end of the Ark level that we haven't seen mentioned before.

The Ark, last night, and it reminded me a great deal of Assault on the Control Room, but bigger, more expansive and with a TON more going on at once. And like AotCR, I was able to juggle back and forth between on foot and vehicles and have success. At one point I just trucked around my sniper rifle and fuel rod cannon, with an energy drain for when vehicles got close, and took out several tanks that way. In AotCR, one of my favorite challenges was to finish the level on Legendary without ever getting into a vehicle. I'm really looking forward to doing it again on this one.
I don't know for sure, but it seems like 1 for a win, 0 for a loss. -1 if you leave early. Not sure what happens on a draw. In FFA you need to finish in the top half to get your point, but I don't know what happens if you're 3rd in a 5-man Lone Wolves game.

Yeah they are sometimes ridiculously hard to get even when you know where they are.
The sixth stage skull was crazy. It took me and DM nearly a half hour to get it. Even the gamevideo guys didn't get it in their video! We beat them and figured out a way to do it with only two people! DM used my character as a launch pad to jump higher, but that alone wasn't enough. I had to jump in his mid air jump off me so he could land again and jump higher. But this still didn't work. So one more twist was added. He would use me as a launch pad, and then I would still jump mid air so he could get higher, and he clicked down on the left stick at the top so his feet would just get over the edge of the plateau. Hard work getting that skull.
