I remember when halo 2 launched, the grenades were too weak and got patched, and there was a banshee on ascension for rifles only matches. It didn't take long for it to get patched. :D

I'm sure bungie will tweak things as they monitor vetos.

:shrug, I really like it. It's faster paced than Team Snipers games, which everyone seemed to enjoy in Halo 2 (but I thought were a little slow).

This really isn't true. I tried doing exactly that several hours ago, then took about 8 screenshots from various self-created campaign films (I got an "upload in progress" message after each one). Not a single screen wound up in my high-resolution screenshots section. The only way I've found to do so is to manually add them to my gallery through the bungie.net file share.

And with Forge I'm sure the updates will be a lot quicker and better.

Errr, I'm pretty sure you can just start at the beginning of the last level you saved on, even without the "Save and Quit".

While you're here surfing Frankie, I just want to say THANK YOU and a big CONGRATULATIONS to Bungie on making one of the best games I've ever played. You guys really out did yourselves, and Halo 3 is everything that I ever wanted in a Halo game. The gameplay is so much fun, and there is so much replayability in the campaign itself. I haven't even touched the multiplayer yet, and I know it's already gonna be great from my beta experience. The story has me so enthralled and it takes so many details and emotions from the books, which is a great thing IMO. I wish there was a way I could just go back and watch the cinematics. Again, great job guys.

P.S. Guardian FFA = Heaven. VIP = Done right. Shotty Snipers ? = GET THE FUCK OFF MATCHMAKING YOU KEEP SHOWING UP. Snowbound= graphically improved. Spartan Laser= a bitch to use now. What I did for that was take it nice and slow. Make sure you have a gunner on your warthog. Once you go past the Wraiths and enter the road, go slow on the gas and just let your AI gunner take out each brute one by one. After they finish off the first horde. Rinse and repeat for the second horde."

Oh. Well, it sucks that your connection (or whosever you were playing with's connection) can't handle co-op - that's easily my favorite part of the entire game. I've played through the campaign twice on co-op, from start to finish and it was fantastic.

The Ark Scarab/three tank battle was absolutely amazing. Our latency was great the entire time, for both games - at times we forgot we were across the continent from each other.

I agree that the addition of the shotgun to the game mode is nice in theory.. but the way the two weapons compliment (or maybe in this case - insult) each other makes for awkard pauses when you pass each other in corridors and the "draw your shotgun delay" hits. I really have some issues with the way weapons switch now.

There was a dialogue in the special edition footage that talks about how many frames of animation you can put into a movement to sell it, but not restrict the player.. well I think it definitely applies. I think the switch weapons delay only slows down the combat and generally results in kills stolen or frustration. With the AR doing the damage like it does now, I don't understand the decision to slow down weapon switching. It seems like an extra unnecessary step of slowing down the gameplay.

Once I finished the game, I loaded up the latest checkpoint which brought me to the middle of the game again (where I started playing for that sit down).
I could manually choose the later levels as expected.
Kinda ot but I replayed a level on easy and I collected a skull but it didn't register. I then replayed the level on normal which was the difficulty which I had finished it on and then the skull when collected recognised properly (achievement + listed).
 
Every online shooter is the same for me. I have these occasional moments of tactical brilliance, but most of the time I'm running around confused over how easily people seem to get the drop on me. I think I just work better in support roles or team games where I can defend a certain area. Otherwise, I'm pretty horrible. :lol

It's so you can't walk around holding a plasma pistol and then instantly whip out a shotgun - and the other player never even see what shot them. And that would happen all the time if the weapon swap delay was any short than it is now. Sure, all players would have that advantage, but it would make for very unfun gameplay if you always ran around hiding your power weapon. People do it with the sword because it's worth the risk that they might not get it out in time - it's that strong of a weapon. But it wouldn't be fun if everyone played like that all time - which is certainly what I would do if there was no penalty/delay for swapping weapons.

Always try and stick together in teams. Don't run and gun each time you respawn. Those are just general tips.

I picked up a skull in the first level and nothing happened. Do I need to take it all the way to the end of the level or something? Also, I have no idea what skulls do. Is there a FAQ or explanation anywhere on the web, or can someone explain it for me?

The Achievement description actually reads "collect this skull on Normal, Heroic, or Legendary."
 
Quick question, what does the "Steaktacular" medal mean? Just noticed I got 2 of them when I checked my stats on bnet. I've been trying to steer clear of this thread until I finished the campaign so sorry if this was answered already.

I also agree with the shotty/snipers gametype-less would be much better in ranked TS. Also, just played Sandtrap for the first time tonight, holy shit that map is awesome.

Skulls, once picked up, give you extra options in the campaign lobby - it could be something major like making your enemies have more health, or causing them to throw more grenades. Or it could be something minor like causing them to say different dialogue than they usually do.

When you pick up a skull it automatically adds that option for turning on or off in the campaign lobby. Once you pick it up, you've got the option permanently. You can drop the skull whenever you'd like.

Gold skulls give you an achievement and silver skulls don't. Gold skulls affect the gameplay in major ways and silver skulls don't.

Having certain skulls turned on or off while playing the meta-game will give you bonus points at the end of the session.

I think that's it.

And once youve done it manually once they will appear automatically after that. 100% guarantee it. Thats what I meant by used your file share sorry -- I meant added the screen shots from your file share to Bnet MANUALLY. Then it will automatic, I promise.

Oh, I know. But even in teams, I always seem to be the one who gets picked off first. Maybe they can sense the weakness! Appreciate the advice, but honestly, this applies to more than Halo.

It's super strange, too, because like I said, once in awhile, I'll have a game where I'm completely on the ball. Doesn't seem to be too much middle ground for me.

Special considerations should apply to the sword. As its history of being so cheap. Let's just get that out the way up front.

But you can now see the weapons physically on the person. Their player profile alone kinda limits the suprises. The noob combo has already been nerfed anyway, by the tracking on the plasma pistol and drain on battery keeping it charged. The weapon swap speeds were perfect before outside of those two weapons. I'll agree to disagree, but I do understand why they probably did it.

What the hell are you talking about? Give me a break the co-op is fine.... in fact in Australia where our broadband speeds are generally a fraction of what you guys get in The States (150k/sec downloads is pretty good) and we didnt have the slightest bit of lag at all playing co-op.
 
Can someone confirm something for me please: those Bungie interviews and extras that are on MARKETPLACE through the Halo 3 interface.... are they new? Are they on the extras discs or anything?

I just want to make sure before downloading redundant files. Thanks.

its almost pointless to use now tho....it got nerfed that hard.

Yes(sorry to sound like a broken record) but once you did do it manually, the screens then uploaded automatically right? (If not, they should and youre doing something wrong).
 
So matchmaking is still down? I fell asleep so I didn't see it go down.

Anyhow, I think I'm going to start up campaign and do some skull runs from the beginning.

If you check his gamertag, he hasn't played one game of halo 3 online. I am assuming QVT is him.

It can stun vehicles. Pretty handy for desperate situations.
 
I just beat the game in one sitting on legendary! First 8 levels was 4 player co-op with my bro and friends, but of course since I have limited edition, it's scratched to shit so it WOULD NOT LOAD THE LAST LEVEL. I was so angry.
So I quickly went and played the last level in my bro's room on his xbox, BUT WE COULDNT JOIN MY FRIENDS PARTY AGAIN, LEAVING JUST MY BRO AND I TO DO IT.

We beat it, and the last level and ending were just awesome, but man Bungie really dropped the ball on this one. I need to exchange it because these scratches are a bit much.

One thing though, I don't see what was so bad about level 8?

I stope one of the Wraiths and used it to blast all the Brutes.

I doubt very much that Bungie had anything to do with the casing. I'd assume they did the art for the case and Microsoft handled packaging.
