29 people from my friends list are online. 28 are playing Halo 3. Insane.

Edit: Scratch that. 29/29 are now playing Halo 3.
Sounds like me, earlier.

36 were online.

35 were on Halo 3 -- the single other player was on Need for Speed Carbon. :lol

BTW, I must say that I was pretty impressed with mission 6
The Ark. The battle against the second Scarab was awesome with the tanks.
This is going by too fast! :(

WOW...
the flood looks amazing on level 5. Its a nice evolution of the art style from one generation to the next. And there's tons of them!!! The exploding ones release like 20 little ones instead of the usual four. And what the fuck are the hure ones with the big claws and the other ones that shoot out of their backs?
(Not a stroyline spoiler)

i'm wondering if someone who has beat the game can tell me what percentage i'm at right now?

i'm
just after the Arbiter jumps a banshee to hold off an air assault, i believe i just interfaced with the cartographer (not long before this i took down my second scarab)

thanks!

I've been playing alot of Big Team Battle and Last Resort keeps popping up. I'd like to play on Sandtrap please >:O

BTW, Bungie, thank you for fixing VIP. Plays so well now.

Weird -- I've got nothing but Sandtrap, and it fucking rocks. Elephants FTW.

VIP FTW, too. =]

Wasn't the Prophet of Truth played by Michael Wincott in Halo 2? Why didn't he reprised his role? The voice actor they picked sounded so different.
He sounds more sinister. I think it still works. In the cutscene at the beginning of Level 2, He seemed pretty badass. More aggressive.

Ok I just finished the fight, fuckin amazing game from start to finish, I completed it on Normal (yeah I'm a baby). However I'm a tad confused by the ending.

when they show all the soldiers paying respects to those that have fallen, and the arbiter and a commander mention that Master Chief is dead, then after the credits it shows Master Chief and Cortana in half a blown up ship. From the way Cortana was talking is that noone but them survived the attack.

can someone elaborate.

The UNSC campaign thing is so crazy. 322 million convenant killed in less than a week! :lol There goes the entire grunt species.

Oh sure, I'm not complaining, he did a great job, but Wincott's version sounded more like a politician than an evil-doer which worked great.

They think MC and Cortana are dead and MC and Cortana think the Arbiter was killed.

Yeah I agree. Wincott's sounded more of like a cult leader. This dude sounds evil.

I'm pretty surprised that some people find graphical aspects of the game ugly.

Personally, I think this game is very beautiful.

Oh, and, you gotta love how the weapons drop now. They're physics based! That is so cool! In the previous games, they would just skip around and stick to the floor. :D

Everything feels so tight and polished in Halo 3. I love it so much.

I haven't even hopped on multiplayer, yet. I'll probably do that, tomorrow.

Note to Ghaleon, it's not your tv. The sound mix is bad, plain and simple.
I would agree, but I have two points of reference here. First, I played the Beta. Second, I played the game for nearly twelve hours yesterday, partly on 5.1 headphones, and partly using the speakers off an Aquos TV set, and in all three cases I was very impressed with how impactful the sound design was. Which is why my experience tonight is so jarring.

At any rate, plugging headphones directly into the TV made a big - but not total - difference. The game is just nuts. I got right up until the
huge Brute pack encounter in the Barracks of the second level
and called it a night. I gotta catch up on sleep, but I'll try to plow through that and Tsavo Highway tomorrow.

I spent some time watching my saved film from the first mission, and holy CRAP are those great. It was very revealing being able to pull back and see how the larger areas in the jungle are structured, and how the enemies use cover methodically while advancing and retreating. I took a few pics, but nothing major. Just getting used to the tool.

I'm thinking, that final big encounter on the first level,
rescuing Johnson
, is going to be a classic. So many ways to do the battle - it played out entirely differently this time around. There's just so many ways to approach it, with a lot of cover and every structure having several layers of verticality to them. And that Chieftan.....such a bastard. The hammer is neat, though. Something about crushing two Grunts at once and having a Marine yell, "He caved in his skull!" is just charming.

So, yeah. I think I like it. Neat little game so far.

I heard that Halo 3 through HDMI has minimal jaggies. Looks almost 4xAA? Can anyone confirm?

I want to know since I have a HDMI premium.

I played on Legendary (four player co-op) and point blank with a Shotgun, the bastards weren't going down after four shots. I was like, "Are you fucking kidding me?!" I loved the new additions to the Flood. I know they infected the Brutes but it seems like they did the same to the Drones. Awesome stuff. :)

Any day 1 sales figures yet?
I'm expecting something tomorrow. I think they got day one for Halo 2 out almost immidiately. But then, they could wait to roll the rest of the launches into a single figure.

Help me out with the story right after level 5.

MC, Keyes, Johnson, and all the Covenant went into the black hole like thing in search of something Cortana said could save Earth against the incoming Flood invasion via High Charity. I understand that. But, I'm confused about where we ended up. Did it warp us to some other world that's in the shape of the Ark (instead of a Halo)? I just started level six, so don't spoil anything beyond that.

Your tag changed again...

Edit: Finished Tsavo Highway. Awesome. Died many times too here.

Till now Game Has Been Freaking Amazing. Bungie has mastered the 30 seconds of fun formula.

If there is one bad thing I can mention about the SP campaign was
the second to last level with the mass influx of flood, it dragged on way too much, and the flood are not fun to battle for long periods of time

Just keep going. It gets clarified.

Yeah, that was a show-slower for me. It happened a couple of times in HALO 1 and 2 but in HALO 3 it was the only one and it showed. It was like a giant roller-coaster and just before the final big plunge, the roller-coaster stops and a mechanic is trying to figure out what's wrong with the engine. ;-)

Okay got this game at midnight UK time and played it start to finish and completed it around an hour and a bit ago! Fantastic game! :D

Although I some how skipped the credits and missed the part at the end is there anyway for me to watch it again? :'(

Are there multiple endings, if so can someone spoil them for me?

In the Legendary Ending, right after Master Chief goes into Cryo-Sleep while Cortana watches over him, the remains of the ship he's in can be seen floating towards a mysterious planet with a sun creeping over it and blinding the scene completely.
