man i'm getting raped in the 3rd mission on heroic. How the hell am I supposed to
take out those 5 or so tank things after going through the tunnel?

you gotta be kidding, the vertical split was already on H2 (a fucking xbox 1 game when HDTV wasn't mandatory), how can bungie do a step back in this?

I'm adoring the game so far but I have one huge complaint. And I don't know if this was common knowledge and I just missed it or my copy is bugged or what, but I can't save video clips or rewind my Campaign Saved Films. Everything works fine for MP saved films, but my long co-op campaign films are missing functionality. Has this already been addressed? Am I the only one noticing this? Just wondering.

Noticed it too. Sucks for those campaign missions where you constantly keep dying.

I believe you can't save clips of it and you can't rewind. One of the Bungie updates was saying how there was some complications and rewind wouldn't really work. You can only slow and fastfoward I believe.

The freeway part? I had a hell of a time with that, and that's with co-op. I just riding that new vehicle in circles, slowly downing each one. The tanks, I went kamikaze and hoped that I ended up boarding it. Luckily, my friend kept them distracted, long enough for me to go up to them on foot, board it, and punch it till it blew.

you see master chief floating in the broken part of in amber clad with cortana. They talk about how they ended up where they are, which looks like the middle of nowhere. Master chief puts away his rifle for the first time ever, and slips into in cryo tube. Before it closes he says to Cortana, "wake me when you need me". Totally BadAss. The last scene is you see the wreckage float towards this planet that has a completely metal surface. Personally, I think it's Onyx where the other Spartans are.
 
Motherfucking best game ever so far. I made it to the last level on heroic before going to classes. I am finishing it today. Anyways, H3 rapes the concept of fps and offers you the best shooting experience ever conceived. I love the game, but now every other game is shit in comparison. From now on I demand encounters like these in every game that calls itself a decent shooter.

I need some tech help. My 360 RRODed but since I was on a replacement program I went out and exchanged it for a new one but now that I'm home it won't recgonize my wireless router so I can't connect to Live . I've reset both my modem and my router but still no luck. Any advice?

I knew I wasn't crazy. For those of you who don't understand. We are talking about the gunfire from our own weapons. Not the gunfire from enemies/friendlies, which are very inappropriately and annoyingly louder than your own guns.

It appears they mixed the guns across the entire front sound stage so turning up your center channel levels does basically nothing. I had to turn up the decibel count almost 10-fold across the front speakers just to get some oomph from my guns. The beta had the same problems but they weren't as bad because there wasn't music present to drown out the guns.

Can this be patched? This is the only game on either next-gen console that I've had this problem with.

Note to Ghaleon, it's not your tv. The sound mix is bad, plain and simple.

I have played nearly every 360 shooter since launch, and have never had the complaint that the gunfire (from your own weapon) was too low. Halo 3 is the first. Game is ace otherwise, but wow, what a way to dampen the whole experience. You can't even turn up the your center channel to increase the volume. Can't believe the game got out like this, the previous Halos did not have this problem. :(
 
I am really, really enjoying the singleplayer and multiplayer. Really really.

I still can't believe how utterly disgusting looking level 2 is, though. I mean, the game looks fantastic outdoors but level 2? Oh man, that was some ugly ass shit right there.

Your MAC address would be different, check the access control settings on your wireless router

I can't believe people are complaining about this. Vertical split was nigh unplayable in competitive multiplayer. I'll take cropped horizontal ANY DAY.

On normal it fades out after the chief goes back to sleep (ie, you don't see the wreckage falling toward the planet).

It shouldn't need to be cropped though? I mean is there any reason for this? it reminds me of the bioshock problem, except this time it really is annoying to have two black bars on both sides of the screen, what other game does that seriously?
 
Holy shit, Rocket Race with several teams of two is the funniest shit ever. :lol If you don't try this variant you are missing out bigtime. You'll want to save every single film :lol

I don't know if I'd say it's disgusting but level 2 is absolute shit, otherwise. Hey Bungie... I played this level before... in about 2 dozen other FPS games. Otherwise, the game fuckin rocks!

yeh i agree. around level 4 or 5 the game looks absolutely amazing.
 
I made it to Level Seven (not counting Arrival) and boy has it picked up

It started out great and all but the levels are just getting Better and Better.

Yeah. After I finished I saved all the videos of my campaign playthrough. I went back to watch my playthrough of the last level, relive the glory so to speak. What I didn't realise was that it recorded everything, including the 20 or so times I got my ass beat in by various bad guys. It was like america's funniest home videos or something as poor old master chief got the shit kicked out of him over, and over, and over again, in glorious high definition. Sorry dude, I didn't mean to suck at this game, it just happened.

Nahh its only the first half of level 8 thats total shit. I don't know why Bungie likes to fuck up their awesome experiences by including a flood level like that, but ho well, after you

the game picks up again.
 
11 hours later, mostly solo, a bit of Legendary 3 player co-op, and a dash of multiplayer, and I am pleased... very pleased.

People who complain about the graphics aren't getting how MASSIVE the levels are, the scope and the battles... it's incredible... with practically non-existant loading time... it's almost as if they didn't need to put that sweet-looking loading screen at the beginning of each new level...

And from the little bit of multiplayer that I dabbled in, it was fun as hell...had to get used to using max sensitivity again in the first few matches, but I got into the groove real quick after that - I really wanna finish the Campaign first before I go hardcore into multi, just so I can be at ease with the story and spoilers...

But damn it, Bungie delivered - it's the most jam-packed gaming package I've ever seen, and the game is just so damn fun... time for a short nap!

Oh my god this basically takes all the goods of Halo and Halo 2 and smashes them into one.

People are complaining it's easy? Sheesh. I'm doing solo on Heroic and each level has taken me about an hour or so. (died so many times)

I LOVE THIS GAME.

edit: Forgot about this: SEXIEST LOADING SCREEN EVER. I wish it was longer! :( 3 seconds loading is too fast for me to finish my orgasm.
 
Just had my best game. Went 24-4 with 6 headshots and a spree of 10 kills. Also had 18 medals. We lost at VIP. :(

Does anyone know if it's possible to view your stats from your console?

If I remember right...Onyx itself falls apart at the end of Ghosts of Onyx. It turns out that the planet itself was made up of Sentinels. The "dyson sphere" thing is somewhere else altogether by my understanding. Which still could be the thing Master Chief is floating towards it's just...Not Onyx itself. I think.
 
I'm around 8 hours in solo right now and I'm REALLY enjoying it. I never played the Halo 1/2 campaign modes, but this is the best FPS experience I've played on a console- there are so many "wow" moments. I always thought Halo was really overhyped, but I'm a PC gamer and even I think this is great.

Anyone care to explain the first two games for me so I can understand what's going on better?

There were two plot points that I'm slightly vague on,
what did the Covenant actually enter? They believed it to be the great journey but what was it? I'm guessing that it wasn't just a decoy plasma ball that consumed them but the portal that lead to the Halo/actual Ark? (I'm guessing so since we fight them again later on) How the game transisitoned between these two locations left something to be desired.
Regarding that, they ended up at a half-way destroyed Halo (was it the original one?) as well as the actual ark (which was shaped as a octopus/star). Are the assumptions above correct?
 
Anybody else thought it was a great touch that they linked, in a subtle way, the game to the FALL OF REACH novel:

When Cortana sends you one of her viral messages, when she is delirious and says: "It was the coin's fault! I just wanted you to be stronger!"

Just beat it on Easy online with my friend and his brother. We started at around 6 and he has surgery tomorrow at 7 am so he just wanted to get it done as quickly as possible so he could get some sleep. I'm about half way through it on normal going at it solo. I thought it would be pretty tough to top Halo 2, especially when it came to the battles, but Halo 3 definitely did.

So, how come the Arbiter gets back and doesn't end up with Master Chief and Cortana? I told my friend jokingly that since he was in the back of the hangar, he went through the portal before them. Was that really it? :lol
