So it the issue with the artist direction rather than the tech?

Gizmo_Monkey said:ok this is so messed up the lobby and options are a joke in this game they are really complicated as i cant seem to get the campaign with four other people to play with me online! Privacy says "closed" all the time no matter what! even if i set it to open it still says closed in the options. It says open in the lobby screen but when the game is started its closed. I start a campaign mission and noone will join because it says closed? whats wrong with this game?
Yeah, it's a pretty well designed level, though I wish it was a bit more open, and it does it nice job of introducing some gameplay elements. There are quite a few interesting encounters there too. It looks really nice, though. Very impressed with the Jungle.Opus Angelorum said:Seems to be the general impression, a really strong start to the game.

GDJustin said:How do you create and save custom GAME variants? I know how to use the forge to make MAP variants, but for the life of me I don't know how to save/share gae variants, even though there's a whole column for it on bungie.net and in the download menu...
Mojovonio said:Haven't done it yet.
We got sick of the game after that level and took a break. I'll beat it tonight.

When you're in the customs lobby, hit X to "Edit Options", and then hit X again to save your game type. It says "(X) SAVE" at the bottom of the screen.GDJustin said:Anyone?
same problem here, I think this was just a gameplay descision based on the uproar about the vertical split from the last game. tried with vga and composite. looks really bad and is hard to see IMO. cuts a 32' widesceen to like a 17' view. urgly.coldvein said:hello my friends
i just got halo 3 and am terrified of spoilers, so i dread entering this thread, BUT i have a very important question.. which may have already been answered. apologies
i'm trying to play local co-op, splitscreen, on my 32" HDTV. the two screens are cropped a few inches on the right and left of my screen. same happens in online play. what's the deal? all the menus and junk use the entirety of my screen, but not actual gameplay. PLEASE HELP. : (

I've only been in it for a few minutes, but am I missing something or is the Brute Chopper just a Ghost minus fun?
Bungle ruins everything again.
Mojovonio said:Yeah, we had a great time. One of my friends is new to gaming, so it was interesting seeing him get his ass handed to him in Sierra and get better and better.
Maybe we should have started him off on Normal, but we said fuck it, Legendary or go home.
We came up with some good strategies too, like having someone flank a Wraith and take cover behind a rock or something while someone killed the gunner and someone else distracted it.
Then, the flanker would hop on it and toss a grenade in to it.

The graphics and sounds are ummmmmm, so good. I love it. So excited.
Can you guys help me out, I'm really itching to play but I can't, black bars are annoying.

That's because the traits you specified were just for during your creation of the map. After you're done Forging the map, if you want to apply player traits, edit powerups, etc, you have to open the map in the custom lobby and then edit that stuff from there. It may seem confusing this way, but Forge is a map editor, not a player trait editor. Plus, you'd have to start specifiyng whether or not you want those traits to apply during the editing, or whether they need to affect the map you've saved. And that's even more confusing. Once you realize that Forge is a map editor and the customs lobby is the actual player settings editor, then it's really simple to do what you need to do.GDJustin said:Thanks. Maybe you can give me some more advice.
I was trying to make a custom map variant via forge that depended on certain player movement characteristics. I lowered the gravity bigtime to allow for huge jumps, and then placed key items on top of structures you normally wouldn't be able to get on top of.
But when I saved the map and then tested it in a custom game, ALL the global modifications (player health, starting weapon, gravity, etc.) weren't saved. I was just playing on my custom map with the items dropped in - it didn't save the player health and other settings.
Can this info not be saved as part of a custom map, or something?
Mojovonio said:Lol, yup.
I was a little rusty.

You follow?
You're right. You will have a map and a game type. Your friends will have to download both. Like, right now on Bungie Favorites they have Games and Maps designed to work together.GDJustin said:...but wait, wouldn't I then have 1) a custom map and 2) a custom game type? It's true that when I put both together, I get the result I want. But its not possible to combine both into one package download? Like, just allow users to download this low-gravity, custom map slayer variant, without downloading both the custom map and the custom game settings separately?
