I don't understand how 100 someodd employees at Bungie played that level dozens of times and noone said, "hey guys, maybe this level isn't so much fun."

Well they went ahead and included the Library in Halo : CE...

I think the graphics are amazing in this game..

I remember when me and my cousin played the Library on Legendary. It wasn't so bad. Sure we died a lot, but we weren't fustrated. It just made us play better and it felt great when we beaten it.

They didn't have time to fix Halo:CE. They've been ahead of schedule on Halo 3 for awhile, evidently. What makes that remarkable is that apparently they didn't think anything was wrong with it.

You know, I'm very mixed about the graphics.

Some areas look amazing, mostly the wooded areas.

But later on in the game, its just bland corridor after bland coridor again.

And the models are just.... ugh...

I loved the Library, lights down volume up shotty out, so I'm gonna take the level hate with a grain of salt.

As you should.

You may like it, because its a very different level than the rest. Its very cramped and hectic. Maybe the issues that bothered me won't affect you.

But to me, that level was torture.

Having not played it I can't really comment, but by the sounds of it really stands out from the rest of the levels so why wasn't it so obvious to the army of testers?

In the ending you can count the number of polygons on a bald marine's head (shown up close). <-- this can't be considered a spoiler right? But anyway that annoyed me.

The lighting is REALLY good. I wasted lots of time in co-op last night turning on my flashlight and looking at the reflections on the two Elites in my co-op group.:lol

The only disappointment for my graphically are the models, ugh! It's like they spent all the time on the MC and Arbitor and everything else was secondary.

It's nowhere near as bad as the library. He has a few good points though. It has a strange layout. There are some cheap enemies. I didn't get lost.

I'm sure it's going to be trouble when I go through it on legendary.
It wasn't that bad on Legendary. The projectile Flood were annoying, though.

I'll agree that the level is sort of a mess. It wasn't fun for me at all - the first time I just ran through as quickly as possible, because I didn't want to fight wave after wave of Flood in tight corridors. I've played through it five or six times now and even though I know the layout of the level now, it's still not much fun. It's the only part of the campaign that's weak. Every other level is top notch.

I heard someone comment on the
matte paintings near the end of the game, and I have to agree with them on that. It was completely bewildering to have played through the entire game with these amazingly huge levels, and then all of a sudden it's just a painting. There was one shot of the Pelican flying over a matte painting that looked gorgeous, and almost made it worth it. But it still seemed pretty random that they all of a sudden decided to change from actual geometry to pretty pictures.

But I really couldn't care any less about the level "Cortana" and the matte paintings. The Scarab battles and the double Scarab battle with the Hornets and the Arbiter's voice and the hidden skulls and 4 player co-op and the meta game and... this game is full of so much win, I'm okay with a few things being off.

How long does it take to update screenshots? I took a few screens like two hours ago and they're still not showing up on bungie.net
With so many users I would say the servers are getting smashed from all sides right now, best to wait a while for things to get fixed.

I'm just going to throw this out here, I've brought the question up before and thought it'd be interesting to hear the opinions now that some of you have played it:

Halo 4?

Most of the reviews seemed to suggest the campaign story was satisfying and a fitting end to the trilogy, agree?

Yeah i think it was a good ending for the series. Althogh they leave some stuff open for a possible return to the universe.

Anyone lagging really really bad? Co-op is stuck in a lag zone
I've played through the campaign on co-op twice, from start to finish, and had almost zero problems with lag. I mean literally, almost nothing.

It's all in your connection or the the connections of the people you're playing with. I have a cable connection, and I had no problems. It's not the netcode in the game - it's yours or your friends' connections.

You have to upload them, I think, not just save them.
Whenever I've taken screenshots, they've automatically been uploaded to my "Recent Screenshots" section on b.net. Almost instantaneously every time.

Oh, ok. I was just guessing. I took a screen too and it didn't show up, so that's what I figured.

What an exciting day. My impressions:
The LE helmet is cooler than I thought it would be. Also, that loading screen is awesome.

Anyone want anymore impressions?

Matched your expectations?

they aren't, aside from having a fair amount of AA applied to them

i'd rather they work on something fresh next. but wouldn't mind if there was another halo fps in the future.

I just find it difficult to believe that there will be no Halo 4 on the next Xbox console, it's the signature game.

I wonder why that's happening? Hrm.

Also, anyone found the
IWHBYD
skull or the
Cowbell
skull? Those are the only two I'm missing. I really want the first one of those two.

AlexH, that first shot is awesome. I remember going out there and being amazed at how far I could go. Those aren't even the best sky shots. :D

The game is gorgeous.

hello my friends
i just got halo 3 and am terrified of spoilers, so i dread entering this thread, BUT i have a very important question.. which may have already been answered. apologies

i'm trying to play local co-op, splitscreen, on my 32" HDTV. the two screens are cropped a few inches on the right and left of my screen. same happens in online play. what's the deal? all the menus and junk use the entirety of my screen, but not actual gameplay. PLEASE HELP. : (

So far, yes. I haven't beat the game, far from it. I'm only on the third level (embarrasing, yes), but I'm enjoying myself quite a bit.

I want to congratulate Sierra 117, today it became the only "first level" in the Halo series that I consider to be above average.

I found one in the hornet level, in a tower, but couldn't pick it up.

They do this on purpose to preserve the correct aspect ratio.

That's
Thunderstorm
. Why couldn't you pick it up?

As usual, HALO looks pretty alright when you're outside, but indoors its all endless, gray corridors. Going by the latter alone, I can totally understand the claims of HALO 2 HD. They've done nothing to gussy it up. Every concrete box Bungie likes to call a "room" is just as boring as it was in the original game.

Just got back from midnight launch. Approx. 15 people in the store (Europe :lol ) I ordered the CE version and thank god my store was fully aware of the disk problem. The clerk was really cool about it. He said I could keep checking copies until I got one that was ok. My first one had a loose game disk. Second one was ok, 2 disks in place, yay.

Still, this whole scratch thing is a fuck up totalement. 2 other guys were busy opening their CE's at the counter, plastic wraps everywhere.

Bolded for sheer awesomeness. He's talking about Halo 3, in case you were confused.

Yep. I got sort of annoyed in uhmmmmm, I can't remember what the level was called, but when you're inside and you have warthogs and you have to get off, flip a switch to open a door and continue.

That whole level was the same sequence of rooms over and over again.
