Man, I just finished the first two missions on Heroic, and oh man, do they really put you to work! Can't believe that there are so many enemies being thrown at you - very tactical as well...

So much that even though I'm not missing my shots wasting ammo, I found myself running out of it quite often... had me taking covers Gears-style half the time... which is why I've only died 5 times in total so far...

Awesome game so far Bungie! :D

i will never be able to complete the game on legendary alone. ever.
This is what worries me. Is anyone else out there working through Legendary in singleplayer (not co-op)? How hard is it?

Legendary Co-op always seemed weaksauce to me, because that means you've always got someone else who will run interference for you and distract enemies while you take all the easy shots. Doing it on your own is the real challenge.

Are you talking about the one directly following the credits? I saw it after finishing Heroic.

No, there is another one. It's an actual cliffhanger.

What is the legendary ending?
Does something happen after he freezes himself
?

Yes.

Legendary Ending:
It shows the Dawn (w/ Master Chief sleeping inside it) floating through space.
Soothing music is playing, but then the frigate floats near a dark planet that slowly lights up to reveal a surface covered in hyper futuristic technology. The music, then, takes an omnious tone (more brooding, evil, and discordant) as Master Chief's ship floats towards the planet's surface. BOOM. The screen goes black.

Hey, thanks that got it. The way they kept dropping in from the sky I thought I was just supposed to run for it, not kill each and every one of them for checkpoints. Thanks again that was getting frustrating. Back to the game for me!

No problem. After you are finished going solo, shoot me a request if you (or anyone) want to do some coop - just put GAF in the subject so I don't delete it. GT is the same as my screen name.

THANK GOD I CANT HIGHLIGHT SPOILERS ON MY WII! A different legendary ending, huh? Now I feel all lame for playing on normal for story purposes. Damn. Oh well, Im already on level 6, so it shouldn't be too long before I can get started again.us

It definitely is; unless, you can tell me what
that planet
is.
The story arc of the series is over. This just leaves it open for another story arc if Bungie wants to pick it up later.

When you say
BOOM do you mean the whole planet explodes, or that the Dawn explodes onto the surface of the planet? I've read a wiki that said (the planet) Onyx is something technological like that.

I dont know a thing about this skull things.

But yesterday Ive played the campaign for the first time, on system link, with three of my friends.

One of them found a skull, whick gave us all an achievements, and he couldnt do anything with it ? How do we activate it, and what are exactly the kind of effect they do ?

You say we activate it in the lobby, but since my friend got it, do I have it also ? Is there any place where we can see the skulls we found ? Do we have to find it each time we do the walktrough, or are they stacking ?

Is it only in the mode when you score points in the campaign ?

Everyone gets the skull unlocked if you find it in Co-op.
The host turns them on from the settings screen in the campaign lobby.
Skulls can be turned on/off independently of campaign scoring.

Legendary ending spoilers:

It would be interesting if that happened to be a surviving Forerunner planet

I was using the word "boom" for dramatic effect and to show how quickly the screen turns black. :lol

mission 3 = omfg

I agree.
I especially like the part where you come out of the tunnel, jump off the collapsed highway, and run into a couple Wraiths, a turret, and a half a dozen Brute Choppers. It reminded me immediately of that now famous "30-seconds of fun quote." The next couple levels are full of encounters like that.

This game has blown my fucking mind. This is Bungie at their very best IMO. This game seems to have capitalized on what they do best, and make tolerable the things they do worst.

There were a few technical (and even design issues), but on the whole, this is my favorite game ever. I may still be in a "Halo high" to say that, so I'll re-evaluate it after the hype wares down later. But in the meantime I've got the hotts for Halo 3.

2 questions: How long is single player and is the co-op splitscreen or otherwise?

It all depends on difficulty level and which skulls you have turned on.

Average on the right difficulty level.. 10-12 hours. An experienced Halo player on Easy? I'm sure you could blow through the game a lot quicker. Legendary? will take me weeks or.. forever :D

In co-op, with 2 players legendary can still be a bit of a challenge depending on your skill level and can take 10-12 hours. 4 players or skilled players will definitely want to turn on skulls to get the most challenge and longevity.

I'm sitting here waiting to get home to actually start the game while reading all this "OMG OMG
i wish i knew what was in here

I agree, consider my mind blown. And you're right about design issues (mission 7 *very minor* spoiler)
I had just gotten out of tower 3, and there was an elite dropship with a gunner on it sitting on the platform, it looked like I was supposed to jump in and go to the next level so I did. I get into the dropship and a checkpoint occurs, so everythings good right? Wrong, The drop ship flies away with you inside, it disappears after awhile, leaving you to fall to your death into the ocean hundreds of feet below. Since the checkpoint happened in the dropship, with its back door shut, I couldn't get out and had to restart the level. I was pretty pissed.

I should go back and see if I still have the video of that and put it in my shares.

Just finished
The Cleansing. The new forms of the Flood get big thumbs up from me. It's great to see some variation. The Chopper is pretty badass. Hard to drive, but it's fun. Using the Flamethrower on the Flood was a blast. Reminded me of The Thing. Glad we got to fight alongside some Elites too. I was wondering when that was going to happen. And the Scarab took me forever. I couldn't find the Power Core:lol

So far I'm very very pleased. Can't wait to finish and then go through again with my roommate and do the Meta-Game and Skulls and whatnot.

There's 19 people online on my friends list right now. One is playing Doom (he's in England), and the rest are playing you know what. And I'm still sitting here without the fucking game -- and it will remain that way for the next twenty hours. I need held.
Close.

i dont like the graveminds voice... aside from that, 11/10, would play again

Does anybody else think that the multiplayer maps are a little boring? I mean they are all beautiful to look at but with the exception of 2 or 3 most of them have pretty bland and simple layouts.

Loving the single player so far though.

Just got settled in at uni, haven't even had a chance to think about Halo for days - then all of a sudden an email saying mine has dispatched! If anyone remembers, my Legendary edition Amazon order said it won't be shipped til Feb 08, but turns out it was just a mistake and it will actually arrive at my home address tomorrow. I ordered a Limited edition elsewhere to my uni address in the meantime, thinking the Legendary wasn't going to ship any time soon. Today received dispatch notices from both places I ordered from, so I'll have one copy of Halo 3 at each of my abodes!

And thanks for using spoiler tags guys, really helps us europeans!

I feared my sexuality when
those spike flood started to ass-blast me
, and all I could do was grin like a fucking freak.

Got mine at lunch. missed out on the fan fare last night, but I did get in and out of the store in 5 min.

Can't wait to play tonight.

I walked in at 12:15. The manager walked up to me and went "Dude, you are cutting it close. Real close." and a second later, walked out with it. I got there right when everyone left.

Awesome.

I like how everyone on my friends list is playing except for giga, who was playing the Spider-Man FoF Demo :lol

Anyway I'm going to be brief since I want to get back to the fight. Midnight launch last night was pretty fucking crazy. We got there at about 11:15, and based on my count and my register receipt #, there were about 250 people in front of us, and by the end of the night there was another 60-70 behind us. I did not partake of the catering, but it looked not bad. They were walking handing out BBQ sandwiches, cans of Game Fuel, Game Informer mags, etc. At one point they were walking around showing a pretty awesome Master Chief cake. The band wasn't bad, some local metal band called "dark ruin" (lol). We got out right about 1. Along with the LE and guide, I also picked up the hippo shell keychain and the wallet since I am a whore.

That aside I went through the game 2 player co-op on Heroic this morning, and it took us maaaaybe
5 1/2 hours
, and neither one of us is that great at the game. Except for the one level that most everyone seems to dislike
the flood level in High Charity, next to last I think?
campaign was very solid. For some reason we had really bad problems in the
reactor room
of the aforementioned level; it was NOT lag, but the framerate was constantly fluctuating, often into single digit territory. No idea why, and it cleared up immediately once we were past it. I also got the 10 headshot kill achievement in the first level without even trying/knowing about it, but my friend couldn't get it even after many times that many kills, so it does seem to be glitchy. Question about the ending though. Maybe it was a co-op thing or a glitch, BUT
there were no credits. It showed the ending, then it took us both to a screen that had the little bungie thanks for playing thing on it....then nothing. We waited, never saw any credits or the scene thereafter, had to look online to see what had happened. What the fuck :(

Anyway all in all the game is fucking awesome, and I haven't touched multi yet, outside of checking out Last Resort, which is hot sex.
