Well, my friend and I just completed the first 3 levels of the campaign on Legendary. Total playtime: 4 hours and 22 minutes. So far, the single player experience is exceeding the first one. What a tremendous game.
Some random thoughts:
1. The lighting is among the best I've ever seen.
2. Human faces are pretty crappy. Why, Bungie? Is there even a good reason?
3. Level 3 is just utterly fantastic. Wow. Reminds me of The Coast level in Half-Life 2...and that's a good thing.
4. The score is a masterpiece.
5. Some of the deaths my partner and I experienced were spectacular. Ghost cannon + gravity hammer = 200 feet in the air.
6. Love how the loading is handled.
7. Damn near zero texture pop-in.
8. Beautiful level design.
9. The Gamestop I went to had a news crew and a crowd of 125+ people.
10. I think Halo might have one of the worst fanbases ever. There were a group of kids that were heckling an old man with an oxygen tank and his grandson. Why the fuck would you do that? Me and a group of guys told them to knock it the fuck off. Jesus, I really fucking hate people. The crowd in general was just awful. Mean-spirited shitheads that were treating the staff like shit and acting all tough...even though it was quite clear they were anything but.
11. There was a near car-wreck in the parking lot involving two people that had Legendary Editions, and someone behind me yelled "Take off the helmet!" The only funny comment of the night.
12. Oh, if you're playing this game on anything less than Heroic, you're cheating yourself. The A.I. is, as expected, impressive as all hell.
