I didn't see much at Best Buy on 44th at 12:30pm. Just G4 and Spike TV setups. Anyone know if anything is going down right now or at 5pm? I'm not staying all the way til midnight. Just wondering.

So a day and a bit to go here in the UK,

Man the hype has got me working hard, timing a system a few months in the works to go live at work tomorrow so I can bail out of the place for the haloz.

I was geeking out today trying to explain to some none gamers about it today, not gotten at all tho they have never played a game properly in their life (but they all like or want a wii :lol).

Anyway fair few people came to ask me about the best places to go to midnight launches in the area, man some guys totaly surpirsed me. Cant wait.

Get them launch photos coming.

/break over back to work for me :D
Where did you order from?

My copy got sent today so I will be playing tomorrow straight after work!

Don't the Brutes also go into the "beserk" mode? How does that feel?
Yeah, sometimes they can get enraged and they come after you with both arms. At that point they are damaged already so if you avoid the rush you can take them down relatively easy.

Most important question and my biggest concern, but from reports I've read they are fun to fight...but compared to elites I don't know.

I think Elites still take top billing, but maybe it's just nostalgia. Elites hold a special place in my mind, because of how awesome their AI was in 1/2, so maybe it clouds my memory. Brutes put up a good fight, even though they do some strange things from time to time, but they don't seem that crafty. They fight like brutes.

Edit: When they've become enraged is exactly what I was referring to when I wrote they fight like brutes.

The CNBC lady pointed out that her teleprompter mistakenly read "still hours away from Halo 3's bug release," rather than "big release."

Sony fanboys inside CNBC confirmed?

Nope, just happens in the background, files are so small that the transfers I've done live have been nearly instantaneous at times.
Unbelievable. I honestly didn't know this. I wish more games did this.

It's different. Headshots seem to register better this time around. While Elites absolutely loved to side step, the Brutes not so much. They do like however to jump ontop of objects to get a good view of things and they're the same as Elites in finding cover. They seem to be kinda slower traversing the environment. They seem to carry a bit heavier artillery from time to time as well. Keep that Brute chieftain at a distance.

They're mean, eh? :lol

manbabies :lol

people complaining about a mod spoiling a plot element = manbabies? should i go into off topic and tell everyone what happens in the kingdom, and then mock them when they bitch at me?

and since people are still confused about exactly what was originally in that OP:

do not highlight if you haven't played it. it is a spoiler. from the quartertothree review

It's no wonder Halo isn't exactly a hot movie prospect. At this point, it's nothing but a suit of armor, a set of guns, and a handful of supporting characters. Alex Garland's rejected script had some nice moments between Master Chief (unmasked, by the way) and Cortana. Bungie has no concept of this as anything beyond a convenient device. "Always protect her, Chief," a dying character says about Cortana, who is, umm, just an AI, so like, what's the big deal?

They're everywhere. SDF is bigger than we thought.

Wow, it's really weird to see Halo cutscenes on CNBC. They just showed the "finishing this fight" cutscene.

First level on Heroic down.
Spoiler Free thoughts
WOW. initial confilcts are textured, varied and challenging. It's taking me a bit to get used to Bumper Buster, which is pure awesome, but I'm getting it. Jackal snipers are back, less annoying, better placed in battles though.

So far I haven't seen anything wide open, but I've seen intense battles, with varied groups of shield jackals, sniper/carb jackals, brutes and grunts. Grunts actually feel more like footsoldiers this time around, you will see huge numbers of grunts.

Much harder than the first two on heroic, it brings back that wonderful "I need three guns but can only carry two tension"

Okay, and a quick encounter description.

One part you get to do some sniping, A big U shaped platform with about 6 brutes, 7 jackals, and lord knows how many grunts. Enemies reacted to my first sniper rounds and came charging at me using bubble shields as cover. I took out the two guards of the chieftan, so he hit his invisibility and went for a building. AI so far has been really great.

the fight with the chieftan was great, and the grav hammer? too awesome.

After the fight, a brute tried to flank me, I follwed him on motion sensor, came around and hit him with the grav hammer, his body flew very satisfactorily.

Some quick cons to what has so far been amazing.
If the game wasn't Aliased to hell and back this game would be gorgeous, the aliasing really takes me out of the game though :(. I've heard it looks better with VGA cable on x768 LCDs, so I may have to try that.

Sony fanboys confirmed - the host just said "that game looks horrible. That's just my opinion (laughs)."

EDIT: beaten, but it's worth it.

Why didn't I think of that.
College students are their biggest market (both companies).

But I think they were talking more about the MS/Google rivalry than the MS console war.

So far, a standard brute wouldn't be as much fun to fight as a standard elite, they don't move nearly as much, and there isn't quite as much feedback for how you are hitting them.

When brutes start using equipment, heavy weapons, and commanding the grunts (audibly) things get more awesome.
