To the people who disliked the ending, (major spoiler don't highlight unless you finished the game)
did you wait until the credits finished? There is a scene after it that changes the meaning of the ending greatly. It seems a lot of people missed it.

Yeah. And people who haven't played the game don't need to highlight spoilers anymore. At this point, there are way, way more than I would have wanted to read before I played.

Bioshock gave me somthing new. Halo 3 gave me what I already had and made it better. Halo living on through incredible multiplayer is where the bonus points lay.

Get stuck with the wrong weapon and you're royally screwed. As it's always been (for me) blunt force or kinetic weapons are the order of the day. There is a new flood variant that will test your patience as it's an expert marksman. You've been warned.

I'm gonna print out T-shirts something to the tune of "I Survived Spoiler-ton '07". You know, assuming.
 
God damn, so someone on my FL got the game and I'm just nosing through his B.net profile and this shit is just staggering. I've said this a few times, but this experience alone, the site combined with all the multi functionality, is completely without an equivalent and totally worth $50 a year. Without a fucking doubt.

Agreed. After thinking about the ending that I initially saw, I decided to play through the last level again, only because of what happened in Halo 2 end Credits. It has changed the meaning of were the Halo series will go from here, or rather where Master Chief ends up from here on out. There is still the cliffhanger from the book series to complete as well.
 
Yeah thats another thing about this game I noticed is that like the recent Bioshock ammo doesn't come in large quantities at all times. The first two games I would wait until I would find the weapon of choice where in this one the needler, plasma pistol, etc. received much more action. A welcome addition that made several scenarios very interesting.
 
This thread has been mercifully light on Australian posters with the game. Envying overseas folks is ok, but domestic jealousy hurts.

There's another cutscene after you finish the game on Legendary. No lie. It's... interesting.

It's more than that. It's the definitive ending of the game... and I really like how Bungie build the endings up. The pre-credits ending most people will see (those who do not care so much about the story), the post-credits ending for the fans and then the Legendary ending for the really hardcore fans. Nice on
 
My Halo 3 came today from the Pontiac sweepstakes. Just a heads up for any other winners but I'm sure it's already been mentioned.
 
So I was speaking to my friend that works in Game (UK) and without giving me any numbers, he claimed Halo 3 had already had more pre-orders than Halo 1 and 2 combined.

If this is the case across most countries, it is going to sell incredible numbers this holiday.

Halo 1's sales came primarily after the launch.
 
Just maxed my download list for Tuesday. Got three things concerning pirates, a humpday challenge, 2 sketch videos (one involving luke getting stuck), and two randoms. Tuesday will be awesome.

Also got a new remote for my TV and paid off what was left on my preorder. I am set for Halo 3.

I have a question for the guys with it. Sorry if answered. Having given in and come back to my crack...err....Halo thread I scanned but didn't see it answered.

Saved films in campaign. How does that work saving wise? Do you have to save each level or does it just keep the film going as long as you play?

I'm interested in the story, playing both Halo 1 and 2 and reading the books. But I have no money for any next-gen system. I just want to know how it ends.
 
Wow, so exciting. It seems most people's orders are being dispatched.

Having just checked my order, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it had been posted on the 21st. (It's now the 23rd here.) This is awesome news. Hopefully, if Royal Mail doesn't hold it for a day or two (which is unlikely), I'll receive it on the 24th.

It auto-saves; all your campaign mode playing shows up automagically in Theater mode.

I'm going to try the Elites, but I read some interview a while back where they stated they think they have it balanced enough for casual play. So doesn't sound fixed really for me personally, oh well. The Elite perms look so cool. :(

What? Damnit, was also thinking of playing as an Elite, was looking forward to playing as an Elite after hearing that they were equal to Spartans. Oh well, I'll probably try 'em out anyway, they look awesomely menacing.

Right now I'm leaning towards decking out my Spartan in ODST helmet and Ninja shoulder pads.

I would like to take a moment soak up how wonderful it is that we're even writing sentences like that.

Only about 800 more than there were ten hours ago. Not nearly as many copies trickled out as I was expecting.

By Tuesday night, that will be in the millions. Can't wait to see the Grunt kill count ticker. Poor little guys.
