I'm playing co-op with my brother and a friend(so 3 players) when it comes out.

My brother and I have been playing Halo 2 multiplayer for years on end so we're pretty skilled, my friend has a bit of skill, but not as much as us. What mode would you guys recommend we play on??

Heroic all the way. You can always bail your friend out.

Shit. Well, first my Internet connection was capped. Now? Much worse. A Myer retail store which is directly opposite the EBGames where I pre-ordered Halo 3 has, well... caught on fire (Started ~4 hours ago). From what I can gather, the fire is out, but the whole area's blocked off so I have no idea of the external damages.

I wonder if other EB stores will accept my pre-order? Or if the EB store that may have been burnt down will transfer the unshipped / surviving copies?

*sigh*. Hope this all turns out alright.

SDF in full effect! :lol

These guys will stop at nothing...err...unless they can pet some Chocobos.

"I believe the word you are looking for, is.....AAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

Went to play some PGR3 this morning, no light on the PSU. Just got off the phone with MS Customer Services, they gave me a reference number and someone is going to be phoning me in the next 24 hours apparently. Meanwhile I'm stuck with a 360 which is about as much use as a cat flap in an elephant house. Brilliant.

I just can't believe the absolute shittiness of the timing, just a few days short of Ratatouille being released on the 360. Can't believe I'm going to be missing out on the adventures of Remy and Emile.....

What's the odds they send me a new PSU on Monday with 24 hours shipping? :lol

You need the weapons and health you get from easier difficulty settings to make a go of it on hard on EDF. I can't imagine just starting on hard without at least 1500 health and some decent weapons.

Heh, thanks. Guess I shoulda bothered reading the instruction manual or something. That's lame, but whaaatever. Game is kinda boring on Normal :/

After sleeping on it I think the best game to compare Halo 3 to Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter. His confident / rebellious attitude reflects that of the Master Chief and his badass way of getting things done.

Small update in regards to the fire.

The whole Myer building has collapsed due to extensive fire damages, but there have been no reported injuries / deaths. There's been about forty million dollars worth of damages done, due in part to the fact the building is one of the oldest in the whole of Hobart. But more importantly, the fire was contained to the building and did not reach EBGames. The whole area's closed off, and it's not known if any smoke / water damage occurred to nearby buildings. [source]

Here's hoping it'll all be fine for Monday night.

I pissed people off amazingly last night. Will always boggle the mind when I post a 100% positive review with one sarcastic remark at the end. Hence the foolish comment to brighten my day.

Anyone want to play some Halo 3 custom games?

It'll probably score around 95 on average, Gamespot will give it a more realistsic score (88-92). They will be cursed and in time the Halo 3-backlash starts and people see that Gamespot was right again.

I will never get why people think 88 is a bad score.

What's so hard to understand? In the world of games, 8-8.9 is good/great and 9 and up is awesome. Anything under 8 usually isn't worth the trouble, certainly not your hard earned cash and free time.

Apparently some of the discs are damaged due to a flaw in the packaging, make sure when you buy it, you give it a good shake to check for loose discs...

Never mind, seems to be old! Oh well, intentions were good...

I paid my preorder in full yesterday before going to... well, "Party night". In fact, I forced my friends to stop at a local Gamestop and paid my preorder there (something I've never done in my frigging life). Funny facts? I never owned Halo or Halo 2... the hype caught me and well, this time I have the system where Halo appears.

Now, to go to midnight launch or not to go....

I guess it's because the servers are not yet up but I better ask:

Is it just me that can not play online?

I think Luke said that all servers would be up sometime today, but I think Rumble Pit and Slayer was working for a handful of players for a few days now...

Edge magazine should be hitting subscribers Monday, they will certainly have a full spread review. Oh and Lair.
I'm guessing 9 from Edge. All their previews and feature of it have been favorable.

Halo: Combat Evolved got 10/10 and Halo 2 got 9/10 from Edge... I'm guessing 10/10 because it already seems like a better game (for its time) then Halo 2.

Just found out my Gamestop isn't having a midnight launch. :(

They said they're opening at 8.00 am though. I'm just wondering how I'm going to bring the Legendary Edition home on the subway. That box is fuckin' ginormous!

Better to keep expectations low!

Carry a gun.

well i went back from that import shop just now and picked up halo3 after i begged the guy if i could get a copy a few days early..i buy alot of import stuff there and i know him pretty well so he gave in and let me buy a copy.

I was right about the sound of the gun fire..its weak as hell, im baffled at this small aspect of the game. its hard to believe just a simple thing such as sound of the gun's firing can hold a game back to its full potential but it really does. the volume set on the gun fire is way to freak'n low for my own taste.. bungie, why on earth did you not give us a slider to adjust the sfx or effects sound? this blows my mind.. may not sound like a huge deal..may not be a huge deal to alot but to me.. it is

Wow, that new museum ad is great. The first one with the Russian gentleman seemed to be trying a bit too hard. This one is perfect, the actor does a good job at going from a normal state of mind to being extremely uncomfortable talking about the weapon, and then to sadness/painful memories/remembering "the Chief" is the reason he is alive.

Everyone particularly thought the gun fires and sfx was quite improved in the beta. :S

Do you have a 5.1 setup, Moe? Might want to check your levels since I had no such problems in the H3 Beta on my 5.1 setup (calibrated using SPL meter.)

Infinitely better actor and ad. Just saying "the Chief" also helps.

Ahh cmon give the guy a break. He did a decent job(in the first ad). How can you honestly say the new ad has infinitely better acting? Are you taking into account its a completely different scene, with a different emotional intensity? He even has a prop in the new ad to help him out!

They are both good actors but the new ad is better because the jump from normal state of mind to being sad/uncomfortable is more subtle, making it feel more real.

Yeah, unless the sounds were quieted since the beta, this guy is wrong. The gun sounds in the beta were amazingly awesome.

Just got the automated pre-order call from Gamestop.

It said something to the effect of "its extremely important that you arrive before 9:00 pm to ensure your copy of the game is fully paid and all your trade-ins have been processed."

So, that leads to the question - Are they saying you have to have it fully paid off before you can pick it up at midnight?

If so, that'll make the line go by sooooooo much faster...good on them. They must be expecting tremendous line lengths.

Oh yeah I totally agree, but my point was the 2nd guy had more to work with in the new ad. In the first ad the actor had to have alot more internal stuff going on to communicate the emotions. Much harder task IMO.

I remember for the Madden Launch 2 years ago they made you pay before midnight. You just showed them a receipt or ID and they handed you the game.

In gaming, aside from the actual gameplay experience, nothing is more fun than the prelaunch buzz/hype/excitement for huge games. Enjoy it! :D

I wish people would stop stealing copies and getting them early. I want this launch to be the biggest launch in entertainment history :(. YOU GUYS ARE RUINING IT lol
