say who? i didnt know walking through an official thread needed an agreement to accept all kind of crap there is into it rofl.

I hope ill be able to pick my copy today so ill have my definitive opinion, but from all the solo video i saw , its really not very next gen (especially the poly count).

my final opinion in 2hours
when playing on my SD set it was pretty janky, but as soon as I played on my HDTV it was beautiful...

you miss alot of the actual beauty of the game because your trying not to get shot and all that other stuff. you can really see how detailed it is when viewing a replay video and while snapping a few pics.

I have to say some things are a little jaggy in the distance, but other than that its as next gen as anything else out there.

I've been thinking about things I'll create in Forge that will act as a feature in a custom gametype, and I have a question.

In the latest ViDoc, there's a "building" at 4 minutes and 50 seconds composed of large boxes and fusion cores. (3 large boxes and 12 fusion cores, to be precise.) If I were to place a weapon (likely a power weapon) atop of that volatile structure and detonate the fusions cores, would the weapon be sent flying to a random location on the map?

How far (or how easily) can weapons be launched in Halo 3?

I think you know what I'm getting at.

Think: it's out of reach and so the only way to get it is by firing at or grenading the fusion cores, each team likely trying to detonate the tower in a way that ensures the prize is launched in their direction.

Or something. It'll be fun to play with.

EDIT: Now bolded for your convenience.

I need some advice and reassurance in preparations for Monday night. Warning: the following might come across as a bit anal retentive...

Soooo..... I've waiting to finish the fight like everyone else and am really amped up to get myself wrapped up into the story of Halo saga once again, but the initial euphoria over the 4 player online co-op has turned into a bit of dilemma.

What I mean is, since I desperately want to soak in the the story telling of this final installment the best way possible, I am dreading the fact that jumping into co-op Monday night from insistence of my firends might dilute the ultimate enjoyment of the story since it could interfere with the way the story was meant to be in the purest sense (hopefully that made some sense).

So what I'm trying to ask is, will playing through the game the first time in co-op be detracting at all with any of the cut scenes or the way the story unfolds? Will my buddy playing with me throughout the game as Arbiter seem out of place in any part of the story? I can't imagine the story has Chief and Arby together every moment throughout. There has to be some places where Chief goes about the journey by himself... or am I completely off base here? Will playing the story mode by myself first be any different in the way it's told than doing it co-op?

Thanks in advance.

Typically, objects of any sort can be launched about as far as there is room on the map to launch. You'll eventually bump into the skybox, that's the ultimate limit. Different per map.

You can fling an object from one end of Sandtrap to the other if you set up a good explosion.

Thank you, sir. This pleases me. :D

You will be distracted, unless you're ruthlessly leading your pack and heading up every fight. In which case, they'll be distracted instead.

Play through on your own, soak it in to your liking. Then hook up with them later, crank the difficulty up to Legendary, enable a skull or three, and it's like playing a different game.

Edit: One other thing, to your question about the differences (minor non-story spoiler):
The Arbiter has a few good lines that he offers at points in the game when he is not being controlled by a player. You would miss out on those in coop.

You never answered my question about fire from a flamethrower staying on the ground indefinitely. :( I need to know if I'm able to a) make my highly anticipated Gauntlet-esque gametype, or if b) you will have crushed my hopes and dreams.

Sorry, I don't like crushing hopes and dreams. :(

(Fire as produced by the flamethrower or firebombs is not permanent, and there is no mechanism in the Forge by which to paint down areas of permanent fire.)

Hmm, then can I have fusion coils create a "ring" instead of fire and have the fusion coils constantly respawn as to keep the ring barrier deadly at all times ? (That would be an awesome substitute to fire). Although I would also need the fusion coils to be extremely sensitive to a Spartan/Elite being pushed to it. For example:

Someone uses a needler on me. The explosion pushes me back, causing me to hit the fusion coils. Will they blow up ?

Shit. Well, first my Internet connection was capped. Now? Much worse. A Myer retail store which is directly opposite the EBGames where I pre-ordered Halo 3 has, well... caught on fire (Started ~4 hours ago). From what I can gather, the fire is out, but the whole area's blocked off so I have no idea of the external damages.

I wonder if other EB stores will accept my pre-order? Or if the EB store that may have been burnt down will transfer the unshipped / surviving copies?

*sigh*. Hope this all turns out alright.

What are your thoughts on what this will receive from IGN and Gamespot? Right now I'm predicting a 9.7 from IGN and a 9.5 from Gamespot. There's this view though that a game cannot be "more of the same" and receive a perfect or very high score, i think reviewers want to leave room for truly original games, but whilst this is well and good, i feel it somewhat overshadows a company like Bungie, who to be honest have been refining the FPS genre to perfection for about 20 years.

Im not sure to be honest. I do know that I cant wait to see the reviews and scores and Im totally excited to see the mayhem here that ensues.

Records will break. People will get banned. Believe.

It'll probably score around 95 on average, Gamespot will give it a more realistsic score (88-92). They will be cursed and in time the Halo 3-backlash starts and people see that Gamespot was right again.

I will never get why people think 88 is a bad score.

Honestly, I don't mind what it gets reviewed. I played the multiplayer beta and enjoyed it, I know what I'm getting for at least that portion of the game and satisfied with it. I just hope that people are less fanatical when it comes to review time for this than they have been in the past. Wishful thinking, I know.

FPS' haven't been around for 20 years, and Bungie's weren't the first. I know you said about but you're off by >5 years :P

Yeah but Halo 3 isnt Halo 2.

I want an advise here...

I just bought today the CE and i have LE preordered at Gamestop -not paid-, and a fully paid LE from newegg (yeah got into that trap).

So I'm wondering what should i do since i really want the LE edition :(?

You know what I find funny? Is those people who clearly have no grasp of Halo but you can tell have probably pirated the game and are coming at you with this kind of authority and telling you it straight and fair 'what the deal is' (mostly, I don't get what the big deal is, etc). Just read a couple of those. I don't mind negative criticism, but it's easy to spot when someone really doesn't have a clue and it irritates me even more when they pirated the game.

This has nothing to do with Halo, but I don't want to make a new topic for it and it's how I'm occupying my time till release so it's kinda relevant!

So EDF2k17. It's awesome. Like, really. Except... I can't make it past the first stage. I'm playing on Hard and I don't want to change the difficulty cuz that's for sissies, but jesus I absolutely cannot make it past the third wave of ants. The first wave is easy peasy, all melee and I can lure them into my squad. The second wave almost always ends up raping my boys though, it's pathetic. And then its like me and one last dude running for our lives against the third.

Am I doing something wrong or just sucking it up?

Parents left to go shopping at tesco, I told them to look out for halo 3 and if its on the shelf, buy the fucking thing!
Yeah, phoned my tesco and the guy said he will check the floor and phone me back.
He phoned me back and said they didn't have any... :(

What did you read?

Anyway Im having this argument with some dude on another forum. He comes in complain that the campaign took him 6 hours to complete. He played on normal. I point out that he should have played on heroic. He still doesnt get it and continues to complain saying shit like "well, i could drive the Warthog round in a circle too" etc.. He doesnt get that the extra enemies and increased encounters combined with tougher enemies would make the game hours longer.

Then I find out he played it COOPERATIVELY on normal. I called him a dumbshit and left.

You need the weapons and health you get from easier difficulty settings to make a go of it on hard on EDF. I can't imagine just starting on hard without at least 1500 health and some decent weapons.

Back to the topic at hand. I got Halo 3 last night and finished it in the wee hours of the morning. Took me a bit over 9 hours, but I died a lot on the last two levels. Anyone else have issues with checkpoints? There must have been 5 or 6 occasions when I got to a checkpoint and it didn't register. It registered everytime on the second time through the section after I died.

9 hrs on heroic?

Amazing the amount of people who manage to snag a copy after the pirated version goes up and the retailers tighten their rules due to leaks.

No, I'm weaksauce. Actually, I'm going to be playing co-op quite a bit next week and I'm saving Heroic and Legendary for that.

Thats cool. I find it encouraging that it was 9 hrs for a single player normal run through.

I'm playing co-op with my brother and a friend(so 3 players) when it comes out.

My brother and I have been playing Halo 2 multiplayer for years on end so we're pretty skilled, my friend has a bit of skill, but not as much as us. What mode would you guys recommend we play on??
