I was finally able to play to Halo 3, a friend was able to buy one for him (and not for me ).
I will give you my thoughts, totally spoiler free.
But first warning, my english is far to be perfect.
Second warning, I am the kind of guy to be critic, and this post will be full of critics and I will try to make my best to explain all. But even like this I am sure that there is people who will not like it. I you don't like it, just ignore this post please.
CONS:
- Samsung LE40M86BD + YUV + Halo 3 = jaggies land
Seriously, nothing special to add. We will try to borrow a VGA cable to try, but even like that it's really disappointing comparing to the other games.
- The textures. Wait, I will explain. In fact the true problem isn't the textures, it's the lack of anisotropic filtering. When you look closely to the textures most of the time it's really beautiful, sometimes truly sexy. But when you get a bit far or if you don't look perpendicularly, it becomes really blurry and ugly. But more than any other 360 big game. It's really a shame and it ruins the quality of the textures. To be accurate it's not true for every textures, those of Epitaph aren't really affected, but those of Last Resort are.
I don't really how to explain (especially in english) but when the pattern is pretty big the lack of anisotropic filtering isn't really problematic, but for the rest it's obvious. I truly believe that why there is so much people who speaks about Halo 2.5 or Halo 2HD (even if it's stupid, just for the awesome lighting Halo 3 doesn't deserve a such critic)
- The map
is hideous. Really, that's incredible. The texture are hideous, the details are hideous (the washbasin and the mirror... my god even in Doom 3 it's better... the computers, the keyboard... ok it doesn't matter, ok it's details, but it would probably better without, it's really ridiculous)
- The humans in mode campaign. They are horrible. Modeling, textures etc.
- The disparity of the technical realization in campaign mode. I didn't play much in campaign mode but, for what I have seen, sometimes (most of times) it's really sexy, sometimes it's simply "meh". Really, I don't even explain it to myself, some interiors are simply awful.
- The framerate. With all the technicals points I mentioned before I deeply think that the we could require at least a steady framerate. Unfortunately it's not the case. I don't know really what to think, maybe with some hours I won't even notice it, but it's still disappointing.
PRO:
- It's Halo. I mean it's Halo's gameplay, Halo's physics, Halo's fun, Halo's scenario etc. Just for it, I buy it =) Really, I am really disappointed that he could only have one game. I only played the first stage and the very beginning of the second stage of the mode campaign because I want to play it at home, tranquilly.
- The lightning. Truly the strongest point in the realization.
My conclusion is pretty obvious, the real negative point of Halo 3 is the realization, and I think that's pretty obvious otherwise there would not be a such fuss about it. But really, beside that point, Halo is really hot. I don't need to enumerate all the qualities, you probably have a good idea of all of them.
I can't wait more, and now I am truly tempted to play at my friend house

Ugh, I was soo close. This older guy was at the counter and hes like.
"You want halo 3 huh? Meet me out back."
When I got there.. he handed me a hose and a blindfold.. all I had to do was suck the excess water out of the hose with the blindfolds on and he said he would give me halo 3! So I did it for awhile and after about 5 minutes hes like.. ok.. I will be RIGHT out with your copy. I waited, and waited, and waited, but he never came out.. I think I was bamboozled. Oh well, atleast I didn't do anything too demeaning for it.

It was an odd tale. Long story extremely short, it RRoD'd, I'd spank it, and it'd start. I played one last GAF Halo game before turning it off, and the POS kicked the bucket. A fitting last hurrah if I ever saw one, though.

What the heck... I run to best buy to get a 360 adapter to hook my 360 to my PC monitor, then I treat the wife to a nice dinner... come home and no weekly update!?!?
