OK- complicated situation here. I kept the Newegg order because I'm selling an extra copy to a bud who can't make it to a place to get Halo 3 for a while and I hadn't been planning on going to the midnight release, but now I've just found out from ANOTHER friend that if I go to the midnight release at EBGames, I can get a pretty hefty discount on a copy + enjoy the midnight release stuff. Here's my question: can I return the sealed Newegg copy (they're both the Regular edition) with the EB reciept to that EB or will they scan the bar code and something and realize it's a different copy?

HayGuysWhatsGoingOnInThisThread?

Frankie,

To you and all at Bungie, Thank you.

It was everything I had hoped for and more, I loved the game and loved the ending.

A Very, Very happy fan.

The bar code should be the same for every identical copy.

The bar codes would be the same everywhere, it is a SKU, not a fingerprint. So yes you can take the game back to EB for a refund.

Ok, sorry guys, but I just don't get all this hype.

The game has such a huge following on NeoGAF that I decided I should snag a copy at Argos, but I'm probably going to take it back based on my inital playthrough.

I mean, what a thoroughly mediocre FPS. I've seen guys shit on stuff like The Darkness and even BioShock as FPSes, but hold Halo in such high regard, but I don't see whats so fantastic about it? The weapons are just plain weird and don't even feel responsive; maybe I'm just used to blood spurting out of Splicers in BioShock and Locusts in Gears of War, but I just don't feel any feedback from the weapons.
I just don't feel like Halo 3 is achieving anything for the FPS genre; sure Halo was a huge step-up for console FPS, but Halo 3 is still that same game with little new (fair enough, I've only played the first three levels of both Halo and Halo 3, but I'm not noticing much new).

So maybe the draw is this storyline and world, but I just can't stop laughing at how ridiculous everything is; half the time the soldiers treat Master Chief as some kind of stupid old man, having to crack awkward jokes and talk condescendingly to him like he's some kind of idiot - the other half of the time it's like "woah, master chief - an honor to work in your precense!".
The aliens are just the worst though; voiced by the cast of the Muppets and modeled by a reject he-man action figure designer, they look dumb and sound dumber; high pitched squeals or gurgling fat-man routine, I wish they didn't speak in English so it might not break the illusion.

It looks nice, it doesn't control bad but It's just not an enjoyable FPS at all, I look forward to trying co-op, but it's probably going back to the shop.

I see what your doing, and gues what.... I love it. Although I think most of my fellow gaffers and I would have to politely, or maybe not so politely disagree with you on this one.

Have you played Halo 1 and 2?

Glad to see a new one before launch. Been missin' Paul's work.

refuse the shipment when it shows up and newegg offers a full refund.

I played the first few levels of Halo 1, but ignored Halo 2. To be honest with you, Sci-Fi stuff isn't really my thing, I prefer to shoot real people, but I'll try anything that gets super high scores / respect.

Looks like this is the time embargo will be lifted for all media.
Yeah, it is. I spoke to an editor over here and he said they were under embargo until 8pm Sunday, which I believe would be noon Pacific.

Hopefully someone breaks it an the floodgates open, as is usually the case :D

Probably not something for you. Halo captivated me when I first crash landed on the Halo ring in CE, everyone else dead and I and had to duck behind rocks in fear of overflying Banshees and incoming troops.

I can see where he's coming from. A lot of people I know didn't find the campaign of Halo that great.

If he doesn't like multiplayer, then there's something wrong.

I think you would have enjoyed the story, humor and dialouge a lot more if you had finished the first two. I mean without seeing the story of the 2nd one I would probably be totally lost playing Halo 3.

yeah thanks for the impressions but you will find very few that agree with you, especially in the official halo 3 thread, so i don't really know what you're looking for here.

Maybe he hasn't plugged his X360 into live (which is always a posibillity), but I can't see Halo 3 on his gamertag http://live.xbox.com/en-GB/profile/Achievements/ViewAchievementSummary.aspx?compareTo=McBacon

Still, a opinion is a opinion. I played the beta and loved da shit out of it, so I'm not really worried. Maybe something like COD4 is more of his kind of thang.
He hasn't played it. And if he did then it was today after he possibly disconnected his system after playing Pac-Man. That would mean that his "impressions" are as valuable as dog feces since he's barely played the game.

If you don't like sci-fi then thats your problem... Sorry Halo isn't your cup of tea.

Yeah he's only played the first three levels of Combat Evolved and, according to him, the first three levels of Halo 3.

:lol
