I'm surprised I haven't seen it discussed much, but (multiplayer discussion)
there's a remake of Lockout in multiplayer. It's called Guardian. It looks good, but it's pretty much ruined.

Lol, where's Frankie?

Anyhow, from what I've seen and read about it, it looks to improve on the faults that Lockout had. (So much camping and power weapon hogging at sniper base) Whoever got the sword and camped at sniper base pretty much won.

Hmm, I'm not sure why the Itunes link isn't working, the RSS feed on Bungie.net has the download working.

I think itunes is using the enclosur tag for the download, and the url has a space at the beginning. frakking sensitive software.

I dont be checkin OPs, son. I post and let people give me links.
It takes longer to post and beg for links than to read the first line of a post I update so you don't have to post and beg. The less posting and asking goes on, the less clutter for us all to sift through.

Son.

Quick, someone email Shane Kim.

Just watched the Vidoc, interesting stuff. But didn't bungie say that they had problems and if you do multiplayer forge everyone can become the flying ball, not just the host?

That itself seems to ruin the forge dm feeling, anywho I would just make a map offline then take it online as a finished masterpiece.

He's being sarcastic. Come on.

You can also just close your party just like in Halo 2. You don't have to go online.

Yeah, that's bound to be the problem.
Code:
<enclosure url=" http://download.microsoft.com/download/d/8/5/d85ce76f-0cb2-41df-aaae-a8c96790332b/Bungie_Podcast_092007.mp3" length="129240472" type="audio/mpeg" />

That's not a problem, that's an intentional feature. ??

.

You can set permissions on how many people can be the editor. It can be host-only, everyone, etc.

Dumb question: How long, on average, do you think it takes to finish Halo 2 if you're not rushing through it?
I've finished the game about 7 times, but don't really have a good sense of how long it took.

I'm just trying to get context for judging these reported finish times for Halo 3.

I think it took me around 10hrs

Right try not to bitch me too hard but

im having real problems with forge, there seems to be a lot you cant change/do

i.e move flags at all, delete all spawn and just have one

hmmmmm

edit: also you cant have things spawn in the air, even when they blow up after hitting the floor

WTF there are THREE people on my friends list playing Halo 3. I have some journos on there, as well as a few retail monkeys so its not unusual to occasionally see someone playing a game prerelease, but THREE people? Damn :(

I have a question.

In Forge, is their a 'delete all' button? As in, clear everything on the map?

No, but we're creating an account that will have all maps on it empty for folks to download from and when that account is set up, we'll let you know at Bungie.net.

Excellent. You guys have so many options with the B.net integration now, can't wait to see what comes out.

Thank God the ViDoc's get put up on Marketplace. My laptop can't handle 720p videos, so it's a blessing. :D

I had to blur my eyes so I could get in and delete the two spoiler filled friend requests first, but I made it through. Looks much better on my TV than on my laptop.

On Topic, Could Campaign rewinding ever be implemented?

I would like to know this too. I'm a layman about it, but I would assume it probably "could" but won't for the same reasons they didn't implement yet.

That's awesome. I'll be downloading those for sure.

Anyway, Luke, there is an item in Forge called
custom power-up
, but I don't see anywhere to edit what it does.

Edit: You can move flags (both the flag's spawn point and where it has to be placed). Don't believe the other poster.

Cerrius said:
So can you move flags or not? Anyone have the game can clarify?

Yes, you can. The person who mentioned you couldn't is wrong. You have to set the gametype to Capture the Flag (duh!) in Forge, then it appears under the "Goals" menu.

YEY

Big thank you, goner get right on that

A lot of people are going to have some major complaints with Forge. Here's one thing that immediately upset me -
The budget that you're given seems really large at first. I looked at it and then looked at how much Warthogs cost and I was pumped because it looked like I could have twenty Warthogs on Valhalla at once. But there's another budget for each type of item. On Valhalla, for example, you can only have four Warthogs on the map at once. And only two Scorpions at once. So there are definately restrictions, and when you hit them, they really sting. The problem is that there have to be restrictions in order to keep the framerate and other things running smoothly. Bungie drew the line where they needed to, and you'll just have to accept that. It sucks that sixteen players on Valhalla can't each have their own Warthog (or even their own Mongoose - you can only have eight), but that's just all the engine can allow for.

The amount of tweaking you can do is still phenomenal. Ultimately, Forge will be about tweaking maps and creating new gametypes - not about dropping an insane amount of vehicles on the map at once.

I'm trying to give a defense for Bungie's call on the specific item limitations, but it definately sucks. I'd love to give every player a tank and have the most epic battle of all time in the middle of Valhalla. But I guess the 360 just isn't powerful enough.

Meddow beginning to lose all credibility.

EDIT: Why oh why did you play it on Normal the first time through?!

He's also technically wrong about spawning things in the air. You can, in a roundabout way.

You have to make a stack of crates, then put the item you want to float in the air at the top, then remove the crates. After that, the item that was originally on the crates will remain hovering in the air and cannot be shot down.
