Exactly they have to ship it today/tomorrow since they charged my card. If they were to ship it with the intention of it arriving on the 25th, they wouldn't have charged it this soon.

They are probably packaging all their orders early to make sure they get out for the 25th; that is why your credit card was charged early. I've seen similar things take place around the 360 and Halo 2 launch. With a high volume of orders I expect to see things happen in a different manner.
 
Screw it, I'm just going to have them cancel my order and wait until Tuesday like everyone else. Save $10 in the process and actually get some school work done this weekend.

I don't think the launch has been a mess at all. While it seems like everyone has a copy already, in reality there are probably just a few thousand at most copies that are actually in the wild.

That's a tiny amount compared to how many will be sold on the 25th and 26th (for us Europeans! :))
 
So what retailers have been reportedly selling copies early? And no, I'm not above buying from crackheads. :lol
 
My mom just picked up a copy of Halo 3 for me. Gonna have to go home tomorrow and pick it up. I've never been this excited to play a video game since Warcraft 2 and Civilization. My god. :lol

Pamida in Wisconsin is confirmed selling Halo 3 before the street date.
 
What shipping did you guys get? I have a newegg credit card...sadly...and a lot of the times they will end up shipping things the day I order them with the standard 3 day ups dealio.

I don't think anyone here knows for sure. It's all a matter of being in the right place at the right time and getting extremely lucky.

First, the bungie.net features are not being rolled out until the weekend. They don't want to launch the game until the systems to fully support it are rolled out.

Second, there's the PR side of things. Gears kinda trickled out over a couple of days, but MS wants a PR splash here - the $125m is still cited regularly, and they want a new number to be parked in there as of next week. And ya gotta hold the dam back until that day to do it.

Of course, to do that you need to make sure every single store that is going to sell it has their units by that day, so they have to go out in advance. This happens to nearly every major retail product launch. I don't think MS did anything wrong here - it's just human nature to screw up, and you can thank all the people in the supply chain, right down to ignorant retail clerks, for it.

Oh, and all you guys trying to trick your way into a copy. That might have something to do with it as well. :lol

Well, I did forget the fact that they'll want it focused to announce to the world their pre-order and launch day sales figures. Obviously with something this big none of the precautions were gonna take. But I hate it being this way. While I love watching the 1st season of Heroes on DVD all day, I much rather be speculating and chatting about the game with my fellow Gaffers (without the spoilers, etc.). Oh well, back to my cave then I guess.

The problem is that these reps are just looking at the ship time and assuming that it is an item that is supposed to go out today. If they knew Halo 3's specific release date they may say otherwise.

Sorry to burst your bubble and I really hope you get it early but I think people are really grasping here.
