there was alot of talk about having to have ordered by Noon pacific time in order to make the shipping cutoff for processing today. But that doesnt mean that we will necessarily get the game by friday (nor those who didnt make the order in time either). I should also add that those that believe they are getting it by friday have all done the overnight - 1 day shipping so presumably we should be tracking packages tomorrow.
 
question about halo 2

i tried to play online last night but - once again - my dlc maps got "corrupted" and i'm asked to redownload them. so i delete them off my HDD and try to redownload and the download refuses to finish.

why do these files keep getting corrupted?

what shall i do about this?

OMG! We just got our copies in at work today. I quickly licked an LE and yelled "DIBS!". everyone looked at me like I was phsyco.

I did get my free dogtags early.
 
Is it safe in here (spoiler-wise)? I've been gone since last night. Someone from GAF that's on my friends list has the game. Anyone care to fill me in?

It's never truly safe. NewEgg is allegedly breaking street date. None of us have had actual ship confirmation yet. Mom and Pop shops have been selling copies early. No news of any big stores getting in on the shenanigans.

Me: I would like to know when my order will ship

Salina: The item is released on 09/25 and we are currently shipping these so that you will have the item by that date.

Me: So when can I expect for it to ship?

Salina: The shipping method is being set as the orders are able to be sent, so it would be within the few days before the release.

Yeah but they legally have to say that. It also says its 3 day shipping when I order anything from them and its always overnight. I live in St. Louis.

They sure as hell weren't saying that earlier today. They told us we should expect it tomorrow if we did overnight shipping.

I just got off the phone with Newegg, and they said that it is in-stock BUT they will be holding it so that I won't receive it till the 25th. Is this a standard response?
 
Wow, this launch is such a mess. I know it won't matter after a few days but I'm sure there are people at Microsoft pulling their hair out and analyzing where they went wrong.

Its simple. They should have played it like they did with Gears and just get it shipping and sold to consumers as soon as stores got it. Shipping weeks in advance especially to idiot retailers should have been a foreseeable problem.

I don't understand how it's so hard for publishers to learn from previous mistakes. Unless of course, they just don't care.

Newegg HAS to refund you if they are not shipping tomorrow guys. I remember seeing another customer service chat where the rep said that if they charged you and the item can't ship now, they have to give you your money back. I'll wait till tomorrow, and if I don't see a tracking number I'm getting my money back.
 
newegg sure is gonna be pissed when all of these orders get canceled tonight and tomorrow! :lol

According to someone here, the spoiler attacks were being organized at SDF.com. This happened after it was found out that Razoric was behind the site and was permed for having multiple GAF accounts.

Later, someone here found that one of the posters at that site uses the name "m0dus." It may or may not be a joke, but he hasn't been around since all of this happened.

Everyone overreacted over one stupid little post on gamefaqs about an order switching to a higher level and nobody stopped to think that they might be prepping early to ship products for the delivery date.

A few considerations.

First, the bungie.net features are not being rolled out until the weekend. They don't want to launch the game until the systems to fully support it are rolled out.

Second, there's the PR side of things. Gears kinda trickled out over a couple of days, but MS wants a PR splash here - the $125m is still cited regularly, and they want a new number to be parked in there as of next week. And ya gotta hold the dam back until that day to do it.

Of course, to do that you need to make sure every single store that is going to sell it has their units by that day, so they have to go out in advance. This happens to nearly every major retail product launch. I don't think MS did anything wrong here - it's just human nature to screw up, and you can thank all the people in the supply chain, right down to ignorant retail clerks, for it.

Oh, and all you guys trying to trick your way into a copy. That might have something to do with it as well. :lol

M$ will sue their ass if they break street date purposely. They had to have signed a contract with them just to sell it.

He has been around, though I have no idea if that m0dus over there is him. Though I think he's got better things to do than that. And I know he's not spoilering anyone.

So they aren't just going to "say" that they are going to follow it. If they ship it early and MS finds out about it then why would they have to lie about when you are going to get it in the first place.
