Speaking of controllers, has the D-Pad imrpoved? I have a 360 from April 06 and the Dpad sucks..

Haven't done the shaving mod, because I can't take the goddamn thing apart, seems to use non-standard screws :(
 
So yeah, after checking the multiplayer videos (I am weak), one question pops up into my head.
What ever happened to that icey/mist inspired blue colored map in the Gamepro article? From code extracted from the Beta and the process of elimination, it was codenamed "Cyberdyne." I guess it just got scrapped, eh?

There's a rumor of an Edge 10 but the earliest we'll know for sure is probably the end of the week.

maybe they are doing what they did for foundation where you have to beat the game? Either that or they took it out for DLC

Maybe it needed more work. DLC will be sooner than we expect apperently...

There's some new technique that doesn't even use disassembly I think. Haven't been arsed to do it myself, but I needs to.

Valhalla is a much better map than Blood Gulch/Coagulation. It fixes all of the problems.

- Man Cannon > Teleporters
- Mountainous terrain with more cover areas > flat empty wide-open field that you constantly get sniped on
- Banshee whoring no more thanks to both sides having the Missile Launcher

that snowman avatar is feeling the heat of potential spoilers. i'm not worried about the internet, because i can avoid it, i'm worried about those cockbite coworkers of mine, of which there are hundreds, who will think nothing of running into my work area and telling me all about halo 3 before i have the opportunity to kindly tell them to bug off.

so i need to somehow procure a 360 without actually buying one so i can play the game hopefully before they do irreparable and massive damage.

The last few score rumors I've read did not come true. It will be interesting to hear the reactions if this one does come true.

that seems like a longer term solution than what i need, don't you think? although maybe i don't quite understand their business model. seems more like a rent-to-own business.

Well you could rent one for a week or two and then just return it, as far as I know.

and it is. You end up paying 200 dollars more for a 360 in the long run. I was looking at this earlier this year when I didn't have an xbox. It's not worth it.



I remember blockbuster used to rent out systems. I rented a dreamcast a long time ago.

i'll look into it. i don't want to do anything i perceive to be unethical, such as taking advantage of return policies. if there's something above reproach, i'm all ears.

They don't list prices on their website - probably because it varies by store - but Rent-a-Center lists the 360, and advertises weeky rates. If it's cheap it might be an option. Could be worth a call.

Finally viewed the scans of Isolation. Wow! I love how it looks and the sky is outstanding!
 
What happens if your group stumbles upon a skull while playing online co-op? Does it recognize the found skull on each player's save file, or just the person who actually touches it?

In Gears, the found COG Tags were credited to the person who actually picks it up, and this is what I'm expecting from Halo 3, but I just wonder if there's any confirmation out there...
 
i still need to pre-order

i will probably just have it shipped to me cuz i doubt there will be a midnight release in my area

plus i waited in line FOREVER when i went to pickup my copy of halo2. i don't really feel like doing that again

the bestbuy offer was the best one i found. basically if you buy halo 3 at regular price, they'll give you 1600 marketplace points for $5.

$15 off.

we'll see.

i know blockbuster used to rent systems, but my various searches around the interweb indicate they don't rent consoles anymore. i saw another on a different forum that some do, but only those with game rushes in the store, and for whatever reason none of them are in my area.

was that at rent-a-center or just in general? because that's very acceptable for me, provided there is a clear understanding from the beginning of the temporary nature of rental agreement. i don't imagine i'd need more than a weekend to beat the game, considering i beat halo 2 that first day.

I thought so, but what movie is that from? I just saw the trailer like a week ago, and I can't for the life of me remember what movie it was for. I checked all the "Good Luck Chuck" trailers, and that particular part wasn't in any of them!

Rent A Center. I'll be calling around tomorrow to see if I can find a cheaper rate, still that's not bad.

yeah but they don't offer in store pickup on the limited edition and i'm not sure if they'll ship on the 24th or the 25th (i'd be using next day shipping). damn! i might just go with the more pricey and no extras gamestop.

eh, i just went ahead and did regular edition for pickup and when i get to the store and i'll ask them to switch it for the limited.

this is bestbuy. they'll have plenty. i got my halo 2 le at 9pm on launch day.
