Who are the hell are these people?

Dude sitting on the left is Chris Webber. I have no fucking clue which NBA team he plays for now. Nas created Illmatic, no more explanation is needed

This will be interesting. I have a friend who swears he is the best player out of my group of friends just because he PWNS in lockout when we play free for all, but as soon as we play Team Slayer his team will always lose no matter which other players are playing with him. We have tried to explain him he is just a bad team player, but he doesnt want to accept it.

I hate this things. Its always the famous people who get the best stuff early. If I was in charge I would make a contest to prove who are the most hardcore fans and allow them to play the game early before any spoiled star.... oh wait.
Get him in my party sometime and I'll be able to tell after a couple of matches.

He just hogs the best weapons and doesnt share with his team. We all can tell, but we cannot prove it to him. Also, he doesnt play on XBL. He likes only local matches because he says the lag throws him off. He has way too many excuses for everything that makes him lose its just irritating.

Kick him in the balls.

IMO...MLG turns Halo into Gaylo
I don't see a real problem in it, but I do hate matches where no ones in there to have fun. MLG people I've played with are all robotic and stuff. I just want to have a good time.

Edit: So am I in the wrong for having the Needler in Halo 3 as my favorite weapon that I tried in the beta? That thing was a beast.

No, you are very much in the right. It was a beast and hopefully still is in the final game. I had some awesome team games on High Ground with the needler, and watching guys go WTF?! when they seemed to spontaneously explode left and right never got old.

I think in team games, at least one member should always have a needler and operate in a support role.

It's the latter and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. MLG rules and gametypes are in place because it's the closest thing they can get to Halo: CE's mutliplayer style. There is such a strong nostalgic feeling towards Halo because that's were all these "pros" got their start. They dominated then, and they dominate now because everything in Halo 2 they gear towards Halo. Just look at the BR starts. In Halo every single MLG pro used the pistol. It's funny watching older videos of those tournaments, because you'd see every single player switch to their sidearm upon respawn. And the closest thing to the pistol in Halo 2? The Battle Rifle.

I will agree that a certain amount of skill is required to be competitive, however, don't be fooled that the rules are there to promote sheer skill.
I loved the Pistol in Halo:CE but the only reasons "Pros" used it (and everyone else on XboxConnect) was because there was not other alternative. Starting with the Plasma Pistol just didn't go over well and "Human" weapon settings gives you an AR and a Pistol. Which would you use? Yes, the BR closely matches the H:CE Pistol but MLG unnecessarily butchers the game by limiting the map and weapon choices to a bare minimum. Granted, weapon balance is far from perfect in Halo 2 but who's to say the Brute Shot or some of the other weapons aren't worth using? You can see where I start to disagree with MLG. What are they going to do to Halo 3? No equipment? No Spikers? No Maulers?

I cant. We work together so if we ever get in a fight or something our job would become unbearable so we are always nice to each other. We are good friends, I just dont enjoy playing Halo with him, thats all.

Starting with any other weapon doesn't give the player a chance to show any skill whatsoever . The battle rifle is the most versatile weapon in Halo 2 and it will most likely be the same in 3 without the close range advantage of BXR. Since there is no other Halo competition to judge overall skill against MLG, I think it's unfair to say the game types favor one type of player over another.

I have nothing against pro gaming, but today, it comes off as a major fad.

I like your name.

I see your point and it's well taken. I can easily see MLG use Forge-only variants for competitive play. Heaven forbid MLG uses a "Bungie-created" gametype!

How have you not strangled him yet?

The only problem I have with MLG Halo 2 matches are the button glitches, there is nothing skillful about crouch melees and your character flying 10 feet towards you and then following it with a headshot immediately due to a flaw in the games mechanics.

I also highly enjoy games without radar, makes you really stay on your toes and cuts down on camping certain spots since you can tell when someone is coming towards you at all times with radar. Without radar, some friends can keep them occupied while someone sneaks behind them. :)

I also found out today that my GS is doing a tourney the night of launch, so basically whatever the prize is, it's coming home with me. :P Small towns ftw!

Radar is good when you're playing FFA, but on the flip side it discourages communication in team games.

edit: Road trip! :P

i just noticed something that has changed on the assault rifle from the beta till now. The chamber lever used to move back and forth while firing in the beta and then when you reload, it would be pushed back in place. Now in the new videos i have seen when you fire it does not move but it pops open when you run out of ammunition. When you reload you push it back and while firing does not move. Just curious if anyone else noticed, and i wonder why they did, not that it really makes a difference.

Cool. a month before the release of Halo 2, a nearby EB had a tourney.. 1st prize was a free copy of Halo 2. You could get lucky.

I'm surprised we do as well as we do in team games, it's pretty much dead silence when I play with your or Trasher. :lol Aside from me cussing...

It's a long drive to come down here just to go home empty handed!

That man has more style and panache in a single discarded fingernail clipping than I will have in an average American life span, doubled.

Though, they probably let him play because he brought along Kelis ;)

Indeed. Of course, I don't like being pessimistic so maybe MLG will surprise me.

True, the last time we played it was better though.

It was linked to the wrong node in the beta, and we fixed it. The operating handle of a firearm wouldn't blow back with the bolt, it would be dangerous to the user.

Yeah, I agree, I also loved BR start in Halo 2, if only for the fact that it started me with a weapon I could actually kill with. I'm sorry, but I absolutely HATED starting with the SMG and having to pick a decent weapon, or find a good dual-wielding component before I even had the slightest chance of killing someone. I'm really happy Bungie was able to solve this with the addition of the AR. In the Beta, I thought the AR was a very capable weapon, and at times I'd keep it instead of the BR, which, let me tell you, rarely ever happened in Halo 2 with the SMG. Personally, with the addition of the AR, I don't think BR start will really be necessary anymore.

I <3 AR.

Basically, everything you just said. Thank god the AR is back.

The AR is very balanced and can hold its own against close range and medium range enemies. Best starter weapon.

I REALLY doubt it, this place is like at 10,000 population when you add in all of the little towns that make it up. It's a very old place, with lot of rednecks and hillbilles, playin Xbox, not one of their strengths.

What's a good affordable pair of wireless headphones. I've never used them before so how does it all work? I want a pair that has the ear piece cupping the ear not just sitting on it. Doesn't need to be fancy, just an affordable compatible set. Anyone know where I should start?

You know, one of the things I'm most looking forward to is having some high end films of MLG players (and/or their proteges) playing the games they think are balanced. In Halo 2, I've found such games to be insufferable and uninstructive, generally because I'm too busy ragdolling around from headshots.

But watching some such games from a free perspective should be enlightening. Are the changes really to place a focus on skill? Or do they (knowingly or unknowingly) reduce the decision space to enforce a status quo that they have learned to dominate?

It'll be interesting and instructive.
Saved films are going to be enjoyable for a lot of reasons. That's one, but since I play team games almost exclusively, I'm looking forward to getting dismantled by an opposing team and then going back and learning what makes their team operate superior to ours. (Okay, maybe not looking forward to the actual dismantling, but you get the gist.)

The other has less to do with skill and more to do with simple fun. In every game, there's often lots of close calls, unlikely kills or just random insanity happening elsewhere on the map. Often I've seen pack of red X's appear in screen and wondered what happened. Now I can find out. After every game, there's people laughing about their grand moment from the match, and now we can all go and be there for it. I can see myself spending as much time watching films as playing.

Couldn't this be used to prove that people are cheating? I like the aspect of maybe studying the game too and seeing how some of the better players get that way.

It could be used for cheaters. If you suspect you were cheated against, you can watch the film and go thru and watch what that guy who pwned you total did.

Agreed. I am so hyped for saved films, especially the postgame-viewing lobby. It's going to be an absolute BLAST at Halo parties. Reliving beautiful frags, sneaky assassinations, across-the-map Spartan Lasers or snipes, the bliss of victory, the agony of defeat, all with buddies sitting next to you punching each other, downing pizza, and drinking soda. To me, that's exactly what Halo is about. Unforgettable moments and fun times.

I can't tell you prices since my dad gave me mine. But basically you hook up the sound source to the back of the base station which is plugged into the wall. Then you turn on the headphones and by some sort of magic the sound it transported directly to your head.

So it's basically setting up a separate audio channel? Then you just select it? Thanks. Thats cool.

Now anyone know of any affordable/good pairs?
