Wait so you were complaining about campers in the tunnels on Snowbound and then complaining that when you camped and held a base people spawned near or behind you?

Sounds like you should make Custom Games, change Leader Traits, where leading team is invulnerable and then the losing team has no shields and that would be your perfect version of Halo 3! ;)

Learn to read, omg noob lolllolllolol

I was complaining about ball campers in the tunnels!

Unless he was complaining about something else, in which case I fail.

:D

Edit: D'oh :( I want to play some halo 2 gamez :(

Dispite it being a beta I never had a problem with that gun being shot at me on that map, my problem was the general layout. In the short time I had to play I never did work out a good stratagy and use to get pwned.

I guess I hung around outside more than you, because the only time dying in the beta where I thought it was just a bit ridiculous was via carbine, across the map, on snowbound repeatedly. Underground, I would always keep plasma or spike grenades equipped to stick the campers or just communicate with my teammates to go in the other entrance and assassinate them.

My only issue of snowbound was in oddball games, where people would camp at the energy barriers and 1-hit-beat-down people... and the time to win was EXTREMELY short (2 mins?)

Other then that I thought it was pretty cool.

GAF Halo 2 game today?

Oh ok. I didn't play but 1 or 2 games of oddball and those were FFA so those who camped weren't camping for long due to assassinations. On team games though, I can see how a coordinated team could cause flaring tempers for the other team.

I totally pwned a FFA game in snowbound. I just went around stealing EVERYONES kill. It was the best game evar.

I lazered like 2 people who were fighting, at the same time :D
I saved that film, even with the lame playback First Person view only
*sigh*

Come on, SOMEONE has to want to play halo 2 :(

We will. He's in the calibration tool, and he's part of the micro-story in the first few levels - as described on a recent podcast and the Tsavo Highway reveal. Check out this video which has a small clip with Sgt. Johnson from the calibration tool.

11 maps?
that sucks cause that leaves us with
9..
good ones. i hated snowbound and high ground, snowbound especially.

cant wait to play the new zanibar though.

I can understand Snowbound (even though the underground parts and shield doors are really well done) but High Ground? I thought that was a fantastic map, such a great design.

does anyone have that halo 3 ad that comes out in the magazines that shows master chief with a bunch of text stating how the world speaks for a hero when he is gone?

I could really use that image, please.

standing atop a base and controlling a portion of a map is not camping, its called map control. kinda like when you control pink on midship because its the center of the map pretty much.

my idea of camping in Halo 2 is kids crouching around just so theyre not seen on radar.

but come on luke you know what i meant about those spawns behind the bases on snowbound, right? is that a spawn thing in the beta or is it bungies way of preventing people from "camping" atop the base?

I'm more or less playing devil's advocate, but aren't players controlling the tunnel part of the map with the Shotgun, then...

What you just described was the very reason Halo 2 was such a problem online. Map control is cool, but if the victim of the map control cannot do ANYTHING throughout the rest of the game due to it, it makes the game unbalanced. Players should have a chance at regaining their footing in a game.

Map control = Camping

Both are unbalanced, and made Halo 2 a mess. So I think having a lucky spawn behind the enemy, thus giving them a chance to regain some footing in the map is a great idea, and should not be taken out.

no one went tunnel unless it was forced, like when kids camped and wouldnt leave the tunnels. obviously alot of scrubs have weak brs and carbines so they have to hide in the tunnels or else they wont stay alive for long.

whatever, end of story is that i hate snowbound. or maybe just snowbound with radar.

AR is all the anti-map control a boy could dream for.

Anyways, Snowbound was my favorite map in the beta by far, y'all are all haters. Splatter sprees are just so refreshing. Speaking of which, has there been any word of the invincible hogs being toned down from all these public showcases being done?

yes i see what you mean by map control being camping, but you have to consider some things. if you consider that camping, then what isnt camping? crouching around because you have radar can be moreso considered camping then controlling a map to gain position on your opponent. in halo 2, midship was the only map where you could control a map to a point of where you were camping an enemy. oh my mistake, collossus as well which is why they took it out of mlg. the spawns were way too predictable. watch this match where check six beat stk http://www.mlgpro.com/?q=node/44941. the team slayer collossus video.

all other maps have very good spawns, very unpredictable spawns, which is what prevents map control.

edit: that video doesnt work.:lol oops.

It seems like you don't like the level because people don't play in a method that fits your strategy.

The numerous spike grenades made the tunnels a deathtrap for anyone including the shotgun guy. The bases had many entry points to give easy access to anyone hiding in there. Not to mention you can sneak up just as easily on a camper by crouch walking as he can get the jump on you by watching the radar.

Now free for all games had a ton of people who just threw themselves off the cliff into the welcoming breasts of Shotgun Guy, but that means the players suck, not the game. You don't go down the dark depths without expecting Shotgun Guy, and having a reasonable counter (Grenades, Spikers, Power Drainer) for him... the same way you don't go out in the open without a BR/Carbine/Sniper/Beam/Laser and expecting to be attacked by the same.

I swear some people would rather play only on two platforms with a chasm separating the teams, minimal cover, BR start, than with all the features we have now. It would be the BC Trow of Halo.

8.5/9.0 from Gamespot confirmed.
Jeff Gerstmann is handling the review.
Nah. I believe he will give it a 9.5 if it's as good as we think. BioShock wasn't as perfect as some people would make you think I believe and in the end, Gerstmans review was the closest to the overall mindset when it all cooled down (as many felt with TTP in the end as well).

I don't think Jeff 'gets' the multiplayer as most Halo players do. I think he'll review it more from a single player perspective. Not that Halo 3 won't be great in that regard, I just can't see him giving it a 9.5 based off that. Also, I think when they introduced the new system getting 9.5/10 was made a hell of a lot tougher.

Great avatar by the way!

I love you. :) Actually, I love your post. That is the exact argument I have made about Halo 2's weapon spawning system effectively damaging the game.

Gerstie was fucking terrible during the live Beta showoff thing GS did. Like... terrible. Then again, maybe it just seemed terrible because of all the camera time he got and all the talking you had to hear him do.
