I say put the inverts in the circus.

"Step right up and see the incredible bearded lady woman and the freakish inverted videogamer!"

I really have no problem with people playing inverted but I didn't know people were so sensitive about their condition.

Wait... you're trying to tell me you know the reasons people pick one over the other? REALLY?

And I'm losing it?

(All I was saying was that on this very page, some people say they like to push the stick up, because it makes them feel like they're looking up. But 'up' is forward if your controller is facing up, and backward if your controller is facing down. So Inverted when your controller is pointing down is just as much 'up' as Regular when your controller is facing up - it's identical logic.)
I think that for most people it's logical that when you want to look up, you move your head up. And everyone who plays inverted is a freak and/or flight sim player. Personally, I hold my controller differently at different points when I'm playing so, at least for me and a few others, it doesn't really have any bearing on whether you play regular or inverted.

Can we get back to a productive matchmaking/game settings discussion? I'll start: Let's try "No Equipment" gametypes in MM!
Equipment can go to hell. Or at least get rid of Regens and Power Drains in non vehicle maps. I'm honestly fine with Bubble Shields, Grav Lifts and Trip Mines. Also, fix the Radar Jammer and Flare jump glitch and put those back in MM. Those were actually useful and not extremely unfair.

Fixed.

Also, I can understand the non-inverted people. They're pushing the mouse pointer/reticle to the top of the screen, therefore, forward = up. I blame GoldenEye and any other game with a floating reticle.

I think Wu's making a good point. It certainly feels that you're aiming "down" if you have the controller down.

Yuck. Equipment is one of the defining differences between the gameplay of Halo 2 and 3 (which also makes it for the better).

WTF @ current debate.

Question: is is possible to add more bombs to standard Assault settings? I was trying to set up a Neutral Assault game with two neutral bombs, but only one appears. I'm guessing that means I can't...but I thought I'd check...

Up is up. Down is not up.

Inverted people are freaks, but it's not their fault. Just like lefties and red heads they are born that way and while they'd all love to change, it just won't happen. Try not to hold it against them.

I play PC shooters with the mouse inverted. I mean I'm moving the butt of the gun, not the barrel.

I'm a lefty but I don't play inverted...who am i? :'(

That's like trying to pull two flags out of One Flag. I know it's buried somewhere in Halo 3 as it used to be in MM. I'm pretty sure it was just called Assault (as opposed to neutral assault) but if you go into customs, go to assault, and don't find it, I have not idea where it is.

It's obvious you're having yourself a bit of an identity crisis but with enough soul searching you can find your way.

I don't think the debate about inverted makes much sense. It's just a play style.

I agree with this. Radar Jammer is awesome for objective games, and the Flare can make an awesome distraction. And the drainer is annoying in non-vehicle games.

I don't think you can. Tried to have like 5 neutral bombs in my Assault gametype that is supposed to be just stupid fun.

:/

Am I the only one that found the Flare kinda worthless? I just simply move my reticule over until it turns red, you don't need to have perfect vision to take someone out. I suppose it could add to the confusion if you were raiding a base and left a few people behind with the flare to mess with the defense while the flag abductor ran for their life :lol

Who needs those when you can get the constant Bubble Shield, Regen, and Power Drainers? It's a shame they've primarily used those three equipment pieces since launch, basically. After all the hype and hoopla over the "X Button", and how it'll change gameplay, it's fell pretty damn short to the excitement it should have brought.

The regens on Isolation also seem to respawn way too fast.

Indeed, I've had matches where I could swear the other team had a regen for EVERY encounter.

I am redheaded and I play inverted.

I hold. Holding is superior for crouch jumping imo and I find it better to be actively doing something to maintain the crouch and then release when I need to run. If I put it on toggle in the heat of battle I often forget and crouch away slowly to my death.
My thumbs only ever get sore after crouching for a solid 20 minutes or so and even then I only need 30 seconds to recover, so it's quite an easy choice for me.

Edit: Back on sticks... at least you aren't like xsleepylionx; he plays with the sticks half way along his thumbs in the area between his knuckles and slightly squinted. HE is a freak. You should see how inconsistent his aim is and how badly his strafing is (if you can call them either of those).

This last page... up is down and right is guide button.

You guys are insane.

I am heading home now, will probably play a bit of Halo when I get home... Hopefully this thread has righted itself before I get home.

This thread is so wrong on so many levels it can never right itself...

lol, I can't believe you guys got so worked up about thumbstick orientation. I play inverted, only because I've gotten used to it and it feels natural to me.

Also hold to crouch ftw, just because of crouch jumping.

I see what you did there... maybe?

Redheaded chicks FTW. Ginger dudez, not so much...

I used to always scoff when people would tell me the assumption that red headed girls are often always crazy, but then I dated this read head for awhile, and yup, turns out, she was batshit insane...

What were we all going on about again? Something about how people that play Bumper Jumper are weird?

Well, crap. I chose to invert my controls just to check it out, and after going back to normal I am trying to look up when I make my Right Control Stick go down. :lol

Well, just got cheated on again in an upper level snipers match. Started the game off by being up by like 4 then they hit the lag switch and they went up 5 kills when we were black screened. Then the connection started to get better and we went up again and they hit the lag switch yet again and we lost by 6 kills. Fucking cheaters. Ruining Halo.

I wonder who was messing with host? Probably the guy with 20 fucking kills. Ugh, and this is the reason I can't get my 50.

Yeah it's not in there. I dug around for a while, and tried variations. Really too bad - I though it was an obvious option to include. You can have multiple active arming zones, but not multiple bombs (other than one for each team). Bummer. I was trying to set up a three-bomb Neutral Assault game with two arming zones in each base (first to six points wins). :\

Also, my flying controls are inverted, but Spartan controls normal.

Try this on for size.

Get it?

4 flag would actually be a pretty neat idea for Multi-Team. Think of it: 4 teams of 2 each with their own little base and flag. You'd need to cap 5 total flags from any other team to win. You could intercept other teams running flags and cap them yourself. It would be pure mayhem and pure fun.*

Hmm. I'll work on a simplified map for next week.
