So I realized that I never beat the game on Legendary. That's not acceptable. I managed to get through the first 2 levels by myself, but it's starting to get hard. I think the flood levels might get REALLY aggravating. I'm always up for co-op. The only thing I ask is that you stay to finish the level.

Yup, just pull the trigger really fast. I discovered it on the Chopper a few months ago, but found it made such a tiny difference it wasn't worth worrying about.
Does it even increase the fire rate on the Chopper? I was playing around with it yesterday and all it seemed to do was fire the two shots off sooner together, but it didn't seem to override the 2 shot limit and the "cooling off" period.

I always pump in the chopper and feel it certainly helps out in chop on chop battles and in taking out warthogs if they get the jump on me. Never bothered pumping with the fully auto guns/vehicles but I doubt it'll help.

Speaking of playing Halo with a mouse, I hope that Halo PC hinting Bungie was alluding to is improved netcode. I'd love to play more of the oldies (cmt_snowgrove, yoyorast island, Blood Gulch, Gephyrophobia, Ice Fields, etc.) without the game-induced lag.
I saw CE at a couple of stores yesterday and couldn't believe it was still $20.

I can help you, though, my disc is scratched and it doesn't let me play The Ark, and after finishing Halo(to get to the cutscenes), it boots me out and tells me the disc is unreadable. I've been planning on getting a CD cleaner/doctor, or buying a new Disc.

For the Rapid Fire Controllers, I thought Bungie banned people that used them, or Microsoft did from any game. Thought I read about it somewhere.

Some places sell it for 10, can't remember which ones though.

If it's something like Team Snipers on Ghost Town (which that was in), I'll use the weapon that is the most suited for the map. And I was just joking around, I play Team Snipers for snipers too, but I'll use whichever weapon is best suited for the current situation (in Ghost Town that's mostly short-range fights).
I'm biased when it comes to snipers. Still stuck in Halo 2, I guess. When shotty snipers comes up, I don't even use the shotgun. I specifically refuse to use it. You can ask Diabolical Bagel for confirmation on this. I guess I do it to make me better, but it also feels much more satifying to get a no scope snipe, and even more satisfying to no scope someone with a shotgun.
I usually lose these engagements :P
.
Using the shotgun is just the least satifying in Halo IMO.

In a gametype called 'Shotty Snipers', where there are two weapons (Shotguns and Snipers), he 'ruins the playlist' by using one of those weapons?
I was referring to him solely using the shotgun. But he was joking and merely uses it most of the time, which makes sense. I thought he was alluding to his hate of the sniper and therefore refusing to use it. This is not the case, so all is well. I didn't mean to come off sounding like Juices, even if I do like the competitve side of Halo more than the noncompetitive.

Did a quick test and it took 24 seconds to destroy a wraith without pumping and 16 seconds with.
5:3 shooting the wraiths' hiney holes.

Quite all right.

However, hopefully this makes you feel better...:lol So close!

Kind of related: For Team Snipers, I wish you would always spawn with the Beam Rifle as your secondary weapon. I don't like having to press "B" twice to get out of zoom. I much prefer pressing "Y" twice.

If you have to press B twice to get out of zoom, I'd say not.
Even before I switched (from using default) I preferred to press "Y" twice.

Besides, Bumper Jumper is a "no-no" when it comes to dual-wielding (i.e., it makes it a lot more difficult than it should). It's why I don't rock the Bumper Jumper.

Not even going to bother asking why anyone would want to dual wield, but what about BJ makes dual wlding more difficult? I find it just as easy and ineffective as ever.

Eh, not really. I don't have any difficulty dual-wielding and reloading, the buttons are just less analogous to triggers.

I just looked at the controller configuration. It wasn't the dual-wielding I had a problem with but the reloading. I love using RB for reload.

Default, because the familiar is comfortable, always been somewhat afraid I'd end up trying out Bumper Jumper for a while and somehow mess-up switching between and end being terrible at both.

Anyway, off to London for two weeks, don't announce any more awesome anime without me around to bask in its (hopeful) glory.

So Eazy and others are going to PAX? :O

Well if Eazy goes ill drive up there too I suppose.
I'll be signing autographs from 1:00 - 2:00.

Naw, should be fun. Definitely won't be what it was last year but worth the trip nonetheless.

To the guys going to PAX:

Use this topic at all times to communicate, even when you're standing next to each other. We at home don't wanna miss a beat.

Southpaw/Southpaw/Inverted, Baybee!

(Mostly for the lulz when folks try and use my controller)

nah, not really, it's just what I got used to. I'm left-handed. I wish I'd learned Default from the start.

That's crazy. I don't know how you do that. Can you move in a direction and jump at the same time?

I use Bumper Jumper, but it took me two tries to get used to (after a lot of campaign practice).

Fullscreen Firefight footage just posted by GT, if anyone cares - http://www.gametrailers.com/video/sdcc-09-halo-3-odst/53411
I was hoping for direct feed but thanks for the link. It really shows how the ODST can't throw grenades nearly as far. Which is weird because in the E3 demonstration the grenades tosses looked completely different and much floatier than even Halo 3. Now it looks like ODST can't throw nades as far as the grunts :P

The person playing was terrible though :lol

Bumper Jumper here. Switched last year after hearing how awesome it was. It didn't disappoint. Halo 2 night a couple months ago really threw me for a loop though.

rofl - I'm gonna love to see footage of someone trying to play like this on a difficulty above Normal. :D :D

(He wouldn't have lasted 5 seconds under that first phantom on Legendary, or probably even Heroic...)

Yes, but I accidentally zoom in a lot when I'm doing it. :lol

At 2:25 he's backpedaling away from two hammer Chieftains....when he's blindsided by a third one from the left.

Oh my.

And while it's been visible before, this video makes it much more clear that the Brute's shields flare ala Elites and Spartans when taking damage; I don't recall that much of it in Halo 3.

Edit: it also looks like the Chieftains are faster than the ODSTs, which makes sense, given how ODSTs are slower than Spartans. But still, I never really added it up: fleeing a pack of hammer Chieftains who are faster than you.

Pants will be filled.

This video does confirm what Voltron already said: the pistol has a large recoil.

Looking good. I'm more excited to play Firefight every day that passes.

Me too! Super excited. 57 days until we can Finish-One-Of-The-Many-Fights-In-The-Halo-Universe [tm!]. Was that music actually from the game? or did they edit that in?

Nice footage. At 0:55 under the reticule there is some sort of ying-yang medal he receives? Wonder what that is. Player gets it multiple times throughout the video, once after killing the brute chasing him.

Looks awesome, but have they confirmed ODST permutations? Cause everyone in the video is either MICK or BUCK. Man I really need to get back into the Halo loop. Been away too long., but my interest in ODST has been revived.

I'm watching the show on Blu-Ray, and season 5 only comes out in like December. I have to scroll around Gaf with AdBlockPlus ready to shoot. :(
