just got halo and started tucking into the multiplayer, a tad dissapointed in order to play the bulk of modes i have to download some hefty map packs, kinda liked the cod4 model where you just dont get assigned to games which are using said maps.

I've always been eager to play the new maps as soon as they've been released... I always buy them so I've never experienced problems with being restricted from playlists.

I don't play CoD4, but with World at War, when I didn't have a map pack, it would match me with anyone regardless of map ownership. If a DLC map came up it would just boot me out of the game and prompt me to buy the pack. I'm not sure if it's like that in CoD4, but I much prefer Halo's options.

Edit: But I don't think anyone here really wants to go through this discussion again...

And I'm not American.
 
The discussion about it is probably long and outdated now, a mere comment in retrospect i shouldnt have made

Proper looking forward to some coop in a while, thanks to those who responded via pm to help me out on that score.

One of my favourite toys.

It can climb most walls with ease and it is a perfect Johnson cloning machine. That Johnson is one (4) tough SOB(s)!

It can also take you to otherwise unreachable places. (Crank up the volume)

I played the original Half-Life for the first time a few months ago, and so far Marathon is really failing to impress. Infinity released two years before Half-Life, though, so I'll give it that.

I'll readily agree with you on the color scheme of the games. Which is funny because I've seen Bungie/Halo take flak from people because of the vibrant colors in Halo. Marathon, the best you had was a purple Pfhor (the dudes with the shock staffs). Even the Hunters were pretty boring and not nearly as fun (or orange-blood spewing) as Halo.

And by "electricity aliens" I'm going to guess you mean Compilers. Which are annoying because they can teleport/float in wherever they want. Which is damn annoying. However, poppin' them with the fusion pistol is kinda fun. Except when you forget that the fusion pistol doesn't work exactly like the plasma pistol and you can charge it up too high and it explodes/backfires on you. :lol

Well at least you gave them a go. And few games can really stack up against what Half-Life did. Valve did pretty much everything right especially considering it's from '98.

The missile pod is the way it is, I think. It's targeting system isn't great enough so that locking on will ensure a kill and a good enough driver can avoid it, but it isn't bad enough that it isn't reliable. It gives the player a pretty decent chance of getting kill.
 
The Chopper is an enigma for me. I'll never pass up a chance to hop into the saddle and take it for a spin, but the thing might as well be made out of paper mache when I'm behind the wheel.

Just caught up on the thread... (wow lot of posts over the weekend! and news!)

I'm really late on the congratulations, but:

Congrats to Ramirez on married, to EazyB and GhaleonEB for maps in playlists, to Voc for getting hired, and a really really late one to urk because I wasn't able to post back when he got hired at Bungie, so might as well get that out there now. That's about as much as I can remember at the moment. Butane maybe for a map or two as well? I dunno what else.

Now I need to become a supar better programmer and learn how to make games, and then get hired by Bungie or 343 or someone. Aw yeah, dream is mine. Til then I'll be here at my regular job making uninteresting apps for in-house use.

This thread is magical. I lubz all of you. Awww how sweet.


Too bad I missed out on customs, will try to join this weekend if I can.

I keep trying to convince my friends that we all should play Halo2 again for the awesome maps. I miss them so much.

I don't think MS would continue the story of the MC from where Halo 3 left off in anything that isn't a video game. Didn't Frankie say that these stories are supplemental, i.e., not required to follow the story that's in the videogames?

Bungie has said specifically that Halo 3 was the end of that story arc. Why would it matter what happens in a video released AFTER the last game of an arc is out? How does that affect players of the games?

:lol That clip reminds me why I love driving that thing. Like Blueblur mentioned, if it gets knocked onto its side it'll do some wacky shit but you can learn to regain control after doing so enough.

Played squad battle last night and was impressed by how often I was able to grab a chopper in that playlist. Made for some good times.

Speaking of squad battle:
Why is Big Team Isolation in there?
And did anyone test one flag on Sandtrap? It's nearly impossible to get the flag out from the bottom of the base if their camping it.

Just because MC's story will more than likely continue in the next MS Halo game doesn't mean one of these anime episodes couldn't fill some gaps.

I still don't understand what you're getting at. I never said that it couldn't go further than the end of Halo 3, even though, looking back at my posts, I did skim over the "much" part (I don't remember reading that, I remember reading it as it doesn't go "further").

Edit: And, Wu, the way that you responded implies that Flipyap and I were discussing it at the moment when it happened yesterday. "You're" should be "you read."

I read back and I saw that I made an error, thus my confusion. But it's my fault, I should've said this in my first reply to you.

the franchise is quite exciting. i came to bungie to work on halo 2 a fan of the first game. i left bungie for 343 as a fan wanting more. oh boy am i ever getting more...and it is fantastic! :)

Played a lot of ActionSack yesterday - there are some pretty fun game types in there. I still hate Ninja Assault. Team Stickies is officially the best game type ever. If only they could have made it so that nothing but a stick will kill.

Just a random question; what's your guys favorite playlist? I mainly play squad battle, I wish they allowed for more DLC maps in there though. Still, squad battle for the win.
