Very slick looking.

Indeed, but it's only fair. Gaf isn't really a global board.
It's 90% American populated, them's the breaks.

Still great fun (if tiring).

I'll see if I can stay up till then, because I'd like to get in on them. Unfortunately I have to be up for work at about 7am tomorrow, so it might be a problem staying awake :lol

We'll see I guess.

Maybe there should be Euro HaloGAF Customs as well.

It would be awesome, but I don't think enough Euro people on this board play Halo to make it work.

Do you guys play MLG rules or regular Team BRs, and do you need to be a fantastic player in the range of 47-50 to participate?

Oh, and is it ok if I don't talk much except for the occasional call out? English is my third language and I don't wanna look too stupid trying to talk to you guys.

Usually regular Team BRs and the range of skill is wide. From average to very good and you'll be just fine only making the occasional call-out and/or Dax dis.

We generally play a variety of rules. Mostly TS and Flag games (1-flag, 2-flag, classic flag). Always BR starts, lotta times AR secondary. I'd say the majority of the time we have radar on but some we turn it off or use MLG rules.

In no way do you need to be great to play. Be warned there are many good players that do play but there's always a nice variety of skill levels so one shouldn't feel overwhelmed.

There are more Euro people than you think. It'd be worth a try I bet.

Although I'm still waiting for my permanent community hopper I'm glad to see you're still adding maps to the pool. Two questions though:

Are we going to see an updated list of which maps are in the hopper or at least what's been added? I really appreciated the weekly update that had all the last ones listed.

Is it possible to make it so vetoing a Sandbox map doesn't always push you to one of the few Foundry maps or is that just an aspect of MM that's hard-coded in? Or even better, is Colonoscopy gone?

First off, show some respect, will you? It could be your map people are shitting all over the forums about next month.

Second, yeah, I'm sending Urk all the info for the weekly update. Ten maps all together, 1 Foundry and 9 Sandbox. All foundry maps have been set to skip after veto, so you can only get a Foundry map if it comes up and everyone agrees to play it.

I've been itching to play some Classic Flag for a while now. Hopefully I'll be able to get in on this for a little while. :D

Halo 4 is probably going to require a lot more work than they're willing to do with a new IP being developed. It will likely have to require all new enemies, weapons, and vehicles because of what happened in Halo 3.

Since the recent increase in Recon armor has anyone received any random messages from people saying they are selling their account with Recon for MS Points? I got one from a guy on my recent players list informing everyone that his account with Recon was for sale.

So, this being a surreal experience for the last few minutes, I guess it's time to introduce myself(before I say something stupid, somewhere). I've been lurking this thread(and NeoGAF in general) ever since about the time that Ascendant Justice was first linked to from Bungie.net, and saw the link to the Halo 3 thread on the side there. Seems stalker-ish, but what can you do when you stupidly keep on using free email addresses from Godaddy?

I don't think anyone would care, or if he would remember something as trivial as a short Private Message discussion with Blueblur1(If I remember, that is) on Bungie.net when the NeoGAF maps went up on Bungie Favorites, saying how some people from Bungie.net aren't complete morons.

Before this gets looked over as another Junior Member with a redundant wall of text with a awkward introduction, let me just say I prefer Battle Rifles to Assault Rifles(but in Big Team, the Assault Rifle is a good weapon to have in some instances), and that I'm somewhat neutral in the whole "Bungie Defense Force/Bungie Questioning Force(?)" issue.

Oh and my Gamertag is ZayneHumphrey, if anyone wants to know.

What about vetoing a sandbox map and then getting a Foundry map? Has it been fixed so that, even if you veto a sandbox map, there is still a possibility that you will get another sandbox map? Also, have any maps been removed?

Just finished the Halo: Legends trailer. Pretty good.

Probably due to Firefight not being People vs People, but People vs AI Enemies. Oh, and maybe the rounds resetting health and ammo. Or something.

"Over the course of development it got a lot bigger than we were anticipating," says Bakken. "We thought of it more as an expansion and then it grew well beyond that. We didn't really talk about it until E3 this year, and it's something internally that Microsoft saw and said; 'What are you talking about - this is a full game.'"

Microsoft Game Studio's Ryan Crosby chimes in; "The scope changed significantly as we went along, and every time we saw it the game got longer, the spaces got bigger, new things were added. Certainly when you sit down with it, it's a lot more than just an expansion pack."
I can't wait, when Bungie doesn't have to go back on there word because the publisher says different! I'm sure ( even though ODST is a pretty big sized game) Bungie still sees it as (not a BIG release).

Given that the Sandbox maps outweigh Foundry 9 to 1, I think it's a safe bet that you'll usually get a Sandbox map upon vetoing another.

It wasn't like that on Bungie Day. If I'm not mistake (correct me if I am) a Foundry map always followed the veto of a sandbox map.

After playing it nearly 10 times that day I was ready to hunt that forger down and crucify him. But I suppose it wasn't his fault the map came up so often, and it probably wasn't the worst map.

Judging from your Atlas reply you seem to know what's wrong with it and so does he. It's a shame his newest version won't be in the upcoming 7 on 7.

Good man. I was afraid there wouldn't be a fix for the Foundry map weighting but never even thought of that.

Slightly OT: Just reading through your Atlas post and seeing this: "I'd also consider removing the vehicles, especially the Ghost. Being infantry in a small space with a Ghost gunning you down is not fun. Ever."

It got me thinking about another map I dislike which has a ghost in an undoubtedly smaller space with a much lower ceiling. The ghost never got to me on Colonade and was nearly useless playing games near lvl 50, but on Orbital it's annoying beyond imagination.

Urk is going to post this later, but August 7 on 7th is a repeat of the Bungie vs World playlist, without the contest attached. Also, I've added 10 more maps on it. One of them has a very creative use of the golf cup prop.

shishka i salute you

next steps are making a permanent community playlist, putting rocket race back in, and redoing every other playlist gametype by gametype

thats highly unlikely, eazys maps are actually fun, unlike lemonade

Heh. I didn't even know there was a Ghost on Orbital. In the games I've played on it, I never saw it. :lol

I like the Foundry fix for the playlist. Though Shishka, I don't think we can respect you ever since you put on the dress on Bungie Day. Sorry man. Maybe if you'd shaved and you know, prettied up a bit for it.

I don't know if this is 100% correct, but I think that the Ghost is set on the "Asymmetrical" setting, though, I've only played Slayer, SWAT, and Multi Flag on Orbital. But yeah, I don't see the point of a Ghost on Orbital, or Colonade. At least the Mongooses could be used for getting the flag/bomb from base to base.

i use mongooses all the time on orbital, its the only way to have any fun. i grab a br and my friend drives me around. with a solid driver and some steady aim its actually pretty effective sometimes

It's there in one bomb and/or one flag, can't remember. But offense has a ghost spawned in their base. And as you know, there's little to no room to step out of the ghost's way and no room to jump. It's like trying to dodge a piston...

You'd know that if you went into something besides BTB and played Orbital more than 16 times :P

I've suffered through 84 matches on the god forsaken level. And that's almost all games that were vetoed into Orbital. I've only gotten to play Assembly 81 times :(

Heh, I bet. People being surprised that there are people using the mongoose in the map.
and the mongoose being as big as some of the hallways, too

Oh, and before I forget:

Not much we don't already know. However, a couple of parts were new to me.

Choice quotes:

"Originally when we were making the game, at first we'd drop you in and you had the entire city open to you, and we found very quickly that that was too much, people were becoming inundated and they didn't know what to do," he says. "Now, in the final game, there's a little more of a narrow path in the beginning, so the first couple of missions are always in the same order, but at that point we open up the whole city and the rest of the game is played in the order that you see fit."

We haven't showed it yet, but there's levels where you can get Warthogs, so you can imagine the difference in terms of scale that you get in Halo."

The first quote is the most interesting. I had previously assumed that we were going to have the whole city available to us from the start. Wasn't expecting Bungie to handle it like that.

I don't really have the quote(or something to the extent of one), but I think Bungie has said something along the lines of having 4 or so "forks" when you begin the game out, just so it can start those story threads out, or something.

Or that's how I always interpreted it. Though, I'm just happy that my personal prediction of falling out of the drop pod in the beginning, just to show the player that fall damage was back in, was right.

1) I've been married for 10 years and 2) have two little daughters who spend a large portion of their time not only dressing up, but dressing up their father.

I know to shave before putting on a purple dress with sparkles.

My kids are getting a little attitude on them about it too. It's not enough that they check my stubble and demand I shave when it's been a few days. My four year old came up to me after I was done working out, caught a sniff of my raw manliness and said, "Dad, you really should shower this year."

Four!

Vetoing a Sandbox map and getting a Foundry map is exactly what was happening. When you successfully Veto, Matchmaking attempts to find you another gametype on another map. This virtually guarantees that if you vetoed Sandbox, you got Foundry, and vice versa. Given that there were only three Foundry maps, this made the traffic on said maps extremely high.

No maps have been removed, ten maps have been added. As with Bungie vs The World, weighting is equal across all maps. However, if you veto, you will NOT get a Foundry map this time.

I think I'm in love.

Edit: Alas, I meant Firefight. Any word on tanks in Firefight, or is that just too much awesomeness to contain in one sandbox? Can't imagine playing as Sarge without the possibility of tanks.

Tanks.

Reinforcements eh? I'm guessing it's just an ammo refill.
So is Firefight going to have droppable power-ups, akin to Nazi Zombies in Call of Duty: World at War? Or will these power-ups trigger at random times?

Oh, and I guess I'll just randomly post that my GT is BIG ANDER.

I don't know if Active Camos or Overshields spawn in, but I think it was confirmed that the power weapons on each of the maps(Sniper Rifle, Rocket Launcher) respawn on either the next Wave/Round.

I really like how the ODST's height makes all the enemies look much bigger. I can't wait to pistol some Hunters Halo CE style with my miniature player character.

Kibbles: where'd you get that pic from? I'm assuming it's from a campaign flashback, correct?

Seems to me it'd be way to overpowered for firefight.

I'm still waiting to see an ODST riding around in a chopper in firefight. We've already seen a pic of a busted chopper but I need to be sure.

The chopper would be just as overpowered if not more so but Bungie doesn't need to know that.

There was virtually no reason to touch the floor on that level. Either grenade your way through the center, go around the outside to the teleporter, or go around the outside and hop up to top mid.

I don't think I was ever killed by the ghost in the millions of matches I played on the map.
