Jesus, the ATLAS douchebag is still going. 178 pages of spam, it's insane.

Achronos just locked down the group and posted in it saying it will be resolved shortly.

I wonder if Shishka will give some of the forum moderators some minor moderating roles in ATLAS now. Eh, probably not.

Although, the funny by-product of all of this is that ATLAS got a lot of attention. Hopefully more people will get interested in helping test out community variants.

holy crap list of halogaf from a few pages ago
I noticed that my gamertag/bungie profile wasn't linked... I must have not mentioned what my GT is: lazytonberry.

I think I tried adding the Gaf Halo gamertag as a friend but I don't know if it worked or it went through, or maybe I was denied. =( I'll try it again to make sure, though, and send a message that it's me from here or something.

I hadn't played Halo in a while because of other new games, until last night and the night before, and oh man it felt good to come back. It was like coming home. Mostly just played some 3v3 or 4v4 customs with friends.

I saw the Major Nelson/Frankie Comic-con interview on the 360 last night, and not having heard anything about that before, I was absolutely titillated. Normally I'm not a huge anime guy, but inexplicably a week ago I bought Love Hina and watched it straight through in about 2 days, after not really having watched much anime in my life and not knowing a lot about it all. So it's kind of cool or a coincidence that I'm just now getting into anime a bit, and then this Animatrix-style Halo thing is coming out. I can't wait.

The website/portal thing, I just don't really know what that is yet, but I'll probably visit it. Guess that's all I can say about that.

The Crackdown2 armor news? Hot. I spent most of Fable 2 wearing my Master Chief armor just because I thought it looked so cool, lol. If I can be Master Chief and jump around buildings, that'd be pretty fun too.

I love Halo. All of it. Hell, I have those McFarlane Halo figures guarding my PC at work. 5 on the side of my desktop and 2 in front of my monitors. And those two are both ODST, one represents my normal armor permutation in Halo3 and the other in honor of the game coming out soon. I actually have a crapload of Halo figures that I used to have in my office that I took back home because it was getting way too crowded.

So any new Halo news is usually good news to me! I love that all these things are planned for the future, and it's cool to see it to continue expanding past the games, even though it's already in a variety of media. I like rewatching the Halo: Landfall short movie occasionally to tease myself into thinking what a real Halo movie would be like. Mooooore Haloooooo. Best game evar. Want ODST now!

Not much we don't already know. However, a couple of parts were new to me.

Choice quotes:
"Originally when we were making the game, at first we'd drop you in and you had the entire city open to you, and we found very quickly that that was too much, people were becoming inundated and they didn't know what to do," he says. "Now, in the final game, there's a little more of a narrow path in the beginning, so the first couple of missions are always in the same order, but at that point we open up the whole city and the rest of the game is played in the order that you see fit."

We haven't showed it yet, but there's levels where you can get Warthogs, so you can imagine the difference in terms of scale that you get in Halo."
The first quote is the most interesting. I had previously assumed that we were going to have the whole city available to us from the start. Wasn't expecting Bungie to handle it like that.

Edit:
"I don't think that you can separate those two - the approach to broadening is a good one and a smart one, but I think that there is still going to be core fans who want to play the shooters, and we intend to give them the best games we could possibly give them."
I'm getting less and less worried for Microsoft ruining the Halo name. They seem very committed to it, which is awesome.

"Now, in the final game, there's a little more of a narrow path in the beginning, so the first couple of missions are always in the same order, but at that point we open up the whole city and the rest of the game is played in the order that you see fit."

Nooo. Not what I thought/wanted. Edit: Heh, you picked up on that too Dax.

It's a partnership that's going to continue with the still enigmatic Halo Reach, but following that the relationship is set to end. "After Reach that's it for us," says Bakken, "We're already working on a new IP that we can't talk about yet. Reach is it for us."
Ding ding. :-)

There's a quote in their about the scope of the game. MS sees it as a full game but does Bungie? It can't really compare to previous games since it does recycle most of the multiplayer from Halo 3, but is the campaign as long a the previous Halo games?

I downloaded them when they first showed up (couple months ago I think?)

It was pre-installed on my devkit 3 years ago.

But don't mind me. You're totally a celebrity for these pictures of you downloading an app you can't run.

Thanks to Achronos, order is restored. Well, mostly. The group is under martial law right now.

Ultimately, this is an issue with the fact that the group was open to the general public. Right now I have to think about how best to handle group access. Worst case scenario is that the format for submitting map variants changes to something far more complex and frustrating simply to keep things like that spam attack from happening again.

So, how will 4p coop on odst work, when storywise, only one or two characters are supposed to be on a scene? For example the lonely beginning when the Rookie wakes up. Clones again like in Halo 1 and 2?

I don't mind clones, I was just wondering

Wondeful... you'll work something out right? Gambatte Shishka-kun!

I'm sorry.. I had to :lol

So, this being a surreal experience for the last few minutes, I guess it's time to introduce myself(before I say something stupid, somewhere). I've been lurking this thread(and NeoGAF in general) ever since about the time that Ascendant Justice was first linked to from Bungie.net, and saw the link to the Halo 3 thread on the side there. Seems stalker-ish, but what can you do when you stupidly keep on using free email addresses from Godaddy?

I don't think anyone would care, or if he would remember something as trivial as a short Private Message discussion with Blueblur1(If I remember, that is) on Bungie.net when the NeoGAF maps went up on Bungie Favorites, saying how some people from Bungie.net aren't complete morons.

Before this gets looked over as another Junior Member with a redundant wall of text with a awkward introduction, let me just say I prefer Battle Rifles to Assault Rifles(but in Big Team, the Assault Rifle is a good weapon to have in some instances), and that I'm somewhat neutral in the whole "Bungie Defense Force/Bungie Questioning Force(?)" issue.

Oh and my Gamertag is ZayneHumphrey, if anyone wants to know.

I'm reading through it now and they mention it at the beginning:
IGN said:
"Over the course of development it got a lot bigger than we were anticipating," says Bakken. "We thought of it more as an expansion and then it grew well beyond that. We didn't really talk about it until E3 this year, and it's something internally that Microsoft saw and said; 'What are you talking about - this is a full game.'"

Microsoft Game Studio's Ryan Crosby chimes in; "The scope changed significantly as we went along, and every time we saw it the game got longer, the spaces got bigger, new things were added. Certainly when you sit down with it, it's a lot more than just an expansion pack."

Portable Cloning Units (PCUs) to be the next ODST preview on Bungie.net.

Serious answer: I don't think the specific details of co-op and how it works in ODST have been released yet.

Hello, Dax. Usually I do laugh at some of your posts, and I hope I don't show any hard feelings to you(or anyone).

Would additional moderators help you at all? I can't imagine that you would be able to spend all your time dealing with inane threads, checking out legitimate maps that the community is offering, running the current playlists, and creating/testing new ones. It seems like a massive undertaking for you to be the sole moderator with the massive amounts of members you have.

Got this from the thread about the next 360 dashboard update:

I post this here because there's Halo content for the avatars in the video:
A bunch of cloths that are just normal cloths with Halo logos on them - $1
And an RC warthog that will zip around your avatar - $4

I'd have paid $4 for a chopper RC car, Frankie.

And the prices are just enough to get rid of the few extra MS points you always have...

That'll probably be part of The Solution. Sounds like we might make a change to all groups that will help me out too. The forum will probably stay in a relative state of lockdown until then. That seems fine; there's a jesus-ton of maps to go through.

Urk is going to post this later, but August 7 on 7th is a repeat of the Bungie vs World playlist, without the contest attached. Also, I've added 10 more maps on it. One of them has a very creative use of the golf cup prop.

Kind of covering my eyes with the ODST shots,
I don't think I want to see any more until I play it.
When ODST comes out I think I may get the rest of the achievements for Halo 3 before moving on to the campaign of ODST. You know, entirely completing the previous Bungie Halo game before moving on.

:lol

Yeah, I have a Master Chief figure(the one that comes with a Sniper Rifle
look out, dax! (kidding)
) that looks like that. Don't know if the ones with the standard Mark VI chest all look like that, or if the smaller/squarer helmets make the necks look like that(since my Rogue figure is as normal as a 7 foot tall super soldier based action figure can get).

EDIT:

Don't worry, I have a feeling some stuff I will probably post will get some hate, and I bet Butane or BerserkerBarrage could testify to that.

Although I'm still waiting for my permanent community hopper I'm glad to see you're still adding maps to the pool. Two questions though:

Are we going to see an updated list of which maps are in the hopper or at least what's been added? I really appreciated the weekly update that had all the last ones listed.

Is it possible to make it so vetoing a Sandbox map doesn't always push you to one of the few Foundry maps or is that just an aspect of MM that's hard-coded in? Or even better, is Colonoscopy gone?

I got a lot more confident in the direction of the Halo franchise when Frank was hired. Bungie has a tradition of hiring much of their talent direct from their fan base, bringing people who are already passionate about Bungie (and Halo) to the next project. It's been one of the things that has made the series evovle in the direction it has, making it so reflective of their fans desires.

Frank's hire at Bungie was part of that, and his move to Microsoft I took as a signal that the same kind of passion that has served Bungie so well would carry forward there. I'll still judge every game individually and reserve judgment for final products, etc, but I'm more optimistic about the direction of Halo under Microsoft than I was last year. I think at the high-level, they're making some good decisions.

I'm gun put a baby in you.

Kick some ass Frankie!

Generally start about 2am gmt, guess it depends who's running them tomorrow.

Do you guys play MLG rules or regular Team BRs, and do you need to be a fantastic player in the range of 47-50 to participate?

Oh, and is it ok if I don't talk much except for the occasional call out? English is my third language and I don't wanna look too stupid trying to talk to you guys.
