By the time Pax 10 rolls around we should have already played the beta. It's pretty safe to assume there'll be playable Reach content at that convention. The real question is when will they reveal the real deal, their new IP, teaser at E3 10 perhaps?

I'd say we'll see some community teasing in 2010 like the SI, but other than that I don't think so.
Just something about the constant exposure that encourages backlash.

Nah, not until E3 11 at the earliest. I think Halo: Reach coming out next year has skewed some things around because everyone was assuming that Gears of War 3 would be the big game for Fall 2010, but with another Halo (big one, too) being Fall 2010's big title, I think Gears 3 will be 2011 which means much won't come from Bungie's new IP for a while.

Some of you need to stop the whole "NEED NEW IP FROM BUNGIE NAO". Just appreciate that the next big Halo is a) from Bungie (the biological, lovable parents of Halo) and that b) it tackles a part of the story arc we've all been wanting for a while (dealing with Reach AND having multiple Spartans in Campaign). Lord only knows how many times I and MANY others have been begging for other Spartans to make appearances in Halo 2 and 3.

Just because it's another Halo, that doesn't mean you should expect more of the same from its multiplayer. Call of Duty and Battlefield have had influences on many online shooters and shooters in general. But even then, I'm positive Bungie will have their own unique twist so that it isn't Call of Duty with a Halo skin.

Hell, even if Bungie said "Reach is just like Halo 3's MP, except this time the only thing that's changed is that you can choose any Rifle (except the Sniper) to spawn with (a la Gears 2)", that in and of itself will change Halo and make it feel fresh (it might not be new to the shooter genre, but it'll be new to the Halo genre).

In the end, the designers at Bungie have far more experience and know what's best. Sure you could say that SMG starts in Halo 2, lovely Pistol starts in CE (I'm bias :P) and AR starts in Halo 3 are all pretty poor choices, but it's just a matter of trial and error. That's the beauty of having such a large fanbase playing Halo consistently; you can't please all of them, all ~1 million of those unique users who play Halo 3 every day are ~1 million unique minds, each thinking about everything in Halo differently than the other. A beautiful mind.

Wouldn't Bungie be able to decide when there game is released since they are no longer owned by Microsoft?

Well considering we know of 2 Bungle games as of now. (ODST, Reach) I hope to see the Original IP announced next E3.

Hm, no, I don't think so. Microsoft is still the publisher of Bungie's future games and being a publisher brings a lot of control. Not control in the sense of the actual game such as audio, story, graphics, etc., but they can control when they want to show the games, where they want to show them, etc.

Thought I'd list them all, since about half the tags aren't listed on the toolbar (so they're not overused). Lots of people don't know about strike, highlight, etc. There's really no reason to use many of them or center stuff.

Probably not down for customs tonight. But if I do get on, shoot me an invite. And let me know you're from GAF. :p

I'll do you one better. I need new IP from Bungie yursterdey!!!

And I hope MS doesn't publish any future titles. Join the Valve bandwagon and get in the EA partners program. Release the next game day in date with Gears of Bore 3 and blow it out of the water.


Edit: I'd be down for customs but I'm chillin with the old lady.
 
Hayo- Quick question: I have an awesome filmclip of a long rocket kill that I'm particularly very fond of. I have it saved as a film clip however, I want to re-do the filming of the clip with a different angel before I render it. Is this even possible? I've been trying to figure out a clever way of maybe re-downloading the game, then clipping it- but I'm have trouble. Any other ideas?
 
Dear Lord, Friday night Customs turned into a clusterfuck of 8 year olds and random people that weren't from GAF. Problem was, we don't know the gamertags of the juniors here so we didn't know who to boot. Would not do again.

On the plus side, I got a double stick on Ghaleon and some other dude. Too bad I forgot to save the clip. I'm sure it's gone forever now.
 
Clusterfuck? Definitely. Was horrible for me; being European in a 10 player game, most of whom are American, definitely screws me over.

Can I live in one of your houses? I want to experience this "lag free" thing I've been hearing about.

This is what the Halo Movie could have looked similar to in quality if the project had been completed with Neil and Peter Jackson. "District 9" is directed by Neil Blomkamp and produced by PJ. Man, if this movie is really good it's just going to make me wonder what could have been. The Trailer looks...interesting; Just from some parts of the trailer, you could see the similarity to the landfall action shots. Hope at some point later down the road Neil and PJ get a second chance at the movie.

If you don't have the original file the only thing I think you could do is send it to a HaloGAFer with a capture card and describe what camera angle you want.

Someone (probably Dax and not me) suggested we try out doing customs tonight. In addition to regular Saturday customs.

Didn't go as planned... Sometimes you cannot change an already good thing.

They are. Just an extra day to allow more people to play, and with the influx of people an extra day to spread the numbers out may be good.

Yo thanks so much Eazy. Yeah, thats crab core- I heard about it on out of the game; Can't believe that genre of music exists. The guys on that podcast were talking about it, pretty funny stuff. I've actually played with you a couple of times of Gaf Customs nights GT:LaszIo, so I'm not one of the new Juniors thats been around, just haven't read the avatar FAQ- Thanks again man for the heads up and the new size.

Edit- Man, an ODST helmet on that crabcore rocker would be so fitting.

District 9 looks nice and all, but I get the feeling that this guy would not be able to make a good first Halo film, maybe in a few years, but right now he seems to be obsessed with making one type of gritty, almost documentary-style sci-fi.
It could work for a side-story, but typical goofy Halo stuff (like Grunts) would look damn weird in this style.
Not that I wouldn't take any Halo movie at this point, I just don't see this weird mix of styles happening, not for something this big.

Don't try to pin this on me. I didn't suggest anything.

And I got to really good splatters on Ghal in one game. One guy was firing a brute shot at my chopper and made me slam into Ghal.
 
So I jumped into ranked Team Doubles last night for the first time in a while. Played a few games.

Booster after booster after booster.

I just found the Gaf iPhone friendly webpage/app which begs the question: Will B-net ever have an iPhone friendly page. It's most likely really difficult to produce because of the feature heavy content on B-net, but it would be awesome just to check the weekly update from the phone when there's no computer around.
 
Half the time I'm browsing and posting to GAF I'm on my iPhone using the app; Chris Kohler is a King among men for making that bad boy. And just yesterday I was reading the WWU on my phone and thought to myself for the twentieth time, "How awesome would a Bungie iPhone app be?" I bet the guys at Bungie have thought of the same thing considering they all have iPhones.
