Is there anyway to reset your connection/host record? Would love to actually pull host after moving from 3/768k DSL to 20/5 FIOS.

As far as I know, there is no way to reset your record that doesn't involve what Bungie and MS would consider cheating/host bridging. I have the same problem. I used to be playing on a shit host up at school that I shared with 4000 other people but now I'm on my own blazing fast T1 connection at home and I never pull host.

I was wondering why something looked strange about the forums for me today.

Then I come to HaloGAF and see this last page, and suddenly realize what happened. I have been accepted into the ranks along with many others! I can finally pooooooooooooooooooost and join shenanigans! What a memorable day.

I've been reading this shit for who knows how long... living vicariously through the people here. I play Halo3 pretty regularly with my friends but not many "online friends" - I'm a forum dweller over at Ars Technica and there really aren't that many Halo freaks that still keep up with the game at a fan(atic) level like me over there. I even run the "Ars Halo" gamertag that just doesn't have all that many people on it to be very effective.

I also get a lot of my gaming info from various threads at neogaf, since the gaming community is so much more alive here, so it'll be nice to finally be able to join the discussion instead of having to repost info at Ars in order to talk about stuff. But I think most of my posts will be here in HaloGAF! I loves me some Halo.

So, I *raise hand* for the HaloGAF and just wanted to introduce myself and also to say:

I've been waiting for about a year or so, maybe a bit less. I had to re-register last December because of the weird error or whatever happened around then where everyone who had already registered got deleted and had to redo it, and it's taken until now to get that approved. So I think I went through about 2 waiting periods or so because of that.

Oh well it's all good now. I guess I should get an avatar, though I really wish I could just turn them all off.

Yeah, it seems as if the magic button was pressed yesterday, letting all us long time trollers in. Gamertag is the same as the name, and I'm always down to play some customs if any would like to add me (be warned, I'm old and I have no hand/eye coordination). I even made a map that EasyB was gracious enough to mention quite a few pages back called Avarice.

I recently played a Team Slayer Ranked match (don't do it usually - I lay at 46) and was paired up with quite possibly the two most annoying teammates ever.

First off, my mic was broke - so they figured I was incompetent. The whole game they're like "Urafaerie! Don't go out, stay behind us! We'll do the killing, you just clean up if we get hit". I disregarded that.

Secondly, they would call out these places that were foreign to me. We were playing Guardian I believe and their communication was "2 B's at G4! Urafaerie! G4!!!". We won, but not before I sent them a message saying "Halo r surius gayme".

Sorry for my rant, it just really grinds my gears

I love Squad Battle... just not the fact that my level is so high that it takes forever to find a game. Currently I'm 35 in the playlist. I did notice the other day that the normal 4-5k population in the playlist was up around 7k during the middle of the day. If anyone is up for Squad Battle I'm always in if I'm online...

Eh. HaloGAF isn't what it appears to be. There are several "groups" within HaloGAF that play on a pretty consistent basis. That's awesome if you look at it in a certain way: find the group of people who most enjoy your type of play style and stick with them. I play with Ghal pretty often (mostly by bugging him while he's forging until he decides to give up and start playing with me); EazyB, Blood, Metroid, Thermite, Nutter, Ram, and Trasher play a lot together (at least that's the impression I get); Backflip, Tashi, BladedExpert, Stormtrooper (not sure on Stormtrooper) play regularly together, but then again that's just another impression I get.

I have a question for all members here.

Squad Battle and MLG are the only 2 playlists that actually benefited from the Mythic DLC-restrictions. Their populations went from 3% to 6% overnight.

Well, a lot of us use general callouts like, for instance, top gold or bottom green or blue window in Guardian, but I've never heard callouts like those people that you played with used before. I think that they were just semi-retarded.

On the subject of that, though...

When it comes to more experienced players, BR starts make sense. Anecdotal evidence aside, the fact that I get 80% BR starts in all my TS games, despite the 80% AR starts weight, supports this. BR starts make the most sense, logically, for any multiplayer game (the fact that it is the best mid-range weapon in the game makes it the "best" starting weapon). When it comes to AR starts games, there are those times when you spawn and you're pecked by BR bullets, not being able to do anything about it until you find a BR yourself.

However, while logically BR starts make the most sense, AR starts support the less experienced gamers and this is where most of the population lies. This is why (not only because I like variety) every playlist should come with both AR and BR starts. Personally, I like both, and I don't want any playlist to be completely 100% one type of weapon start.

I prefer AR starts only because I like the weapon more than the BR (been a fan of the AR since Halo 1).

I don't play like that. If someone makes a shout-out for a location during a game, I'll only understand it if the location is fairly obvious. BR1, BR2, BR3... what?
