You get the majority of points in the first part of the level. The second part (after the Sarge Johnson cutscene), is where you get on the ghosts and go through the level. You can't really stay behind and kill enemies but you can kill some on the way.

It could be possible.

Looks like these comics are a prequel series to H3:ODST!

Hm, the release date for the first Halo: Helljumpers comic is July 22, and it looks like the second comes out about a month later. It's a five-issue series, so at that release rate, ODST would have to release late November in order to come out after the series ends. So either the release date we see on Amazon.com (October 6th) is correct and the comic series isn't going to tell any sort of "prequel" story (probably just backstory) OR the Amazon date is wrong and ODST will ship at the end of November.

also I figured out why I didn't get the legendary achievement... Cortana and Covenant beat on Heroic...not looking forward to doing those two again FUCK.

FUCK YEA Shiska, finally I can congratulate you. Team Actionsack FUCK YEA. Team objective retired. Sad move but it either needed a drastic overhaul or retirement and some big changes are being made.

I can't complain about the June update.
 
Team Action Sack sounds so awesome I don't even know where to begin. I started, but ended up quoting nearly every game type. To boil a few of the best down (edit I didn't boil it down much afterall too much awesomenesssauceysauce):

2 Flag Shottys
Capture the Flag. Players spawn with Shotguns, but no energy shields. First team to three flag captures wins. 12 minute match time limit.​
Fuck yes. This was awesome when HBO ran action sack in Halo 2.

Pit of Lies
Team King of the Hill. Players lose one point per second while standing in the hill, but gain two points for killing a player while in the hill. Outside of the hill, players do 0% damage. Inside the hill, players do 200% damage and have 50% damage resistance. Hill moves once every minute. First team to 10 points wins. 10 minute match time limit.​
How awesome? Very.

Tug of War
Team Slayer. Players spawn with Battle Rifles. Points are gained by killing opponents, but lost by dying. Bonus points are awarded for killing sprees or eliminations. First team to 25 points wins. 10 minute match time limit.​

Run for Cover

One Sided VIP Escort on a specialized Sandbox map. The VIP team spawns on the ground level with plasma pistols, and cannot damage their opponents. Points are awarded every time the VIP reaches an escort point, but are docked every time the VIP dies. Next VIP is chosen at random. Anti-VIP team spawns in the sky bubble with Sniper Rifles and Spartan Lasers, and are attempting to stop the VIP and lower the VIP team’s score as much as possible. When the VIPs escorts are nearby, they take on his color (gold) and their move speed increases.​

Territories. Players spawn with gravity hammers and are invincible. Teams ride into the single territory on warthogs and must knock their opponents out of the ring. Highest score after 7 rounds wins.​
This is the kind of game type I would make if I were making gametypes. It's like the anti-MLG, a blast of antibiotics during a nasty infection in the lower body cavities.

ODST will not ship in November. September or October is logical. Microsoft understand that despite the power of the Halo franchise, Modern Warfare will dominate November. Also, depending on their release portfolio, Microsoft may well have other games of different genres releasing in November.

Makes sense. I wasn't aware of when MW2 released, but you're right, there's no way they'd release both games in November.
 
Still no new Double XP lists...and retiring Team Objective is pretty weak. I know the population was low, but what are people who enjoy objective game types supposed to do now? There's MLG I guess, but that's not really for everyone...SB is pretty much broken past a certain level, meh.

Why not try merging Team Slayer/Team Objective, just seems lame to me to axe one of Halo's best aspects.

also remember to watch Arrival on Legendary - it is required reading to get your Legendary Achievement
 
With the retirement of Team Objective I assumed Social Skirmish would be improved. Cutting out the bullshit, but nope :(

Team Actionsack sounds like it could be fun. Are the games considered custom games or are they just MM games that reward no exp. I'd kinda like my career weapon stats to be as pure as possible. Don't really like it when goofy gametypes like rocket race, grifball, or fiesta mess things up.


Please for the love of God though, Shishka. Now that TO is gone there is no reason to gimp Social Skirmish. Swap the gametypes, let TO live on through Skirmish.

Also, it's pretty obvious that we'll see ODST at E3 in some form. How much do you think we'll get to see. Do you think we'll get a new trailer? Maybe more? Played on stage during the MS press conference? Maybe new maps playable on the show floor???
 
Wow...

With folks making maps trying to improve the playlist in Sandbox, instead of adding some variants down the road for 1-CTF, 1-Bomb, Multi-CTF, or whatever else, let's play those in unranked, socialized games where guests and quitters will become fully maximized. Now it's cool Actionsack (though many of the gametypes sound weak, Dodgeball > Team Rockets -- 2-Flag Shottys and Ninja will be fun, but meh at the rest) is added, but this isn't going to become a full-frontal playlist, as it wasn't in Halo 2. Basically, ripping out Team Objective is ripping out competitive skirmish games for Halo 3 Xbox Live and those who don't like MLG rules. But whatever, I don't know why I'm surprised.

I really really hope that we get to see some gameplay. I'm guessing that it won't be playable on the floor but they'll probably show a new trailer that *hopefully* has a little bit of gameplay spliced in.

That, and there's "hiding spots" and other minor problems that have been addressed (obviously game-breaking). Not sure how or why it got accepted into MM so quickly.
 
BUNGLE goddam this game makes me so fucking mad sometimes, I was 1 kill from my first perfection and someone spawns in front of my rocket...... booted!

So Team Objective is gone but none of the TO gametypes (BR starts on Last Resort, for example) are transferring over to Skirmish? God almighty.
 
Three relevant 4v4 playlists:

Team Slayer, Team Snipers, and MLG. MLG is left for the primary CTF battles on normal maps. Grade A stuff right there.

Time to visit ATLAS's forum and see all the pissed off forgers.

I played from launch til Halo 3, but I don't really remember the playlists back then. :lol

I don't remember having as much beef with 2's as I do 3's, that's for sure.

When Halo 2 launched there wasn't a team slayer mode. There was only a mixed slayer/objective hopper. Lotta people whined until the two types were split.

It's too bad the general Halo population is scared of objective gametypes :(

Ah yes, I remember that now...might as well make Squad Battle 5v5 or something, that might help it out a bit.
 
When Ranked BTB got removed, remember something. It got replaced by a Squad Battle replacement. While larger maps are still largely missed, IMO, it still added variety and competitiveness (i.e. RANKED). But surely, this will probably be next to be axed. I mean, really, would you be surprised? I don't know why there's ranks anymore anyways. There's three relevant playlists and two are "gimmicks" (Snipers and MLG).

Removing the only ranked skirmish playlist and having no replacement or idea in backup, is just... well, you've got the idea.

I always heard the other guy was a cock, at least Shishka's nice. :P
Ninja on Fire or Tyson? Ninja actually seemed to have an ego (frequently posted on B.net's boards while it was still decent). But, at least, his changes in MM had plans setup and made impact in a variety of ranked playlists, so I didn't mind that.

Footage, screenshots, interviews with new info -- not sure of what specifically, but I'm thinking they're going to have to lift the lid on whatever this multiplayer business is soon.
 
Backflip, Penguins, and I just played a few rounds of Territories/KotH. We're ready to own some foos tomorrow at GAF Customs.

And while people are talking about Halo 2, BTB worked better in H2 becase there was a plethora of large maps in Halo 2. Sure, Halo 3 has Valhalla, but it really lacks the large maps that halo 2 had (as seems to be the case will all of Halo 3).
 
Man, I just got back from a LAN.

Seriously, if all I playd was Halo LAN I would have no gripes with Bungie. The netcode on Live is just garbage. It's a shame that three great games have their mutiplayer tainted because Bungie won't give us dedicated servers and wont improve their netcode. It's really a shame.

While I understand your frustration, you do realize that Halo has OBJECTIVELY some of the best netcode out there, right? Dedicated servers don't require robust netcode, and they also don't allow for good matchmaking, and often become moribund wastelands filled with cheats and idiots.

Consider the good stuff Halo does and still does better than most other consoles.

Saying the netcode is "garbage" is an absurd hyperbolae.
