(Also note that I said "paid" - people who only have Bungie Pro via the Legendary or Mythic DLC promotional offers are not eligible for the beta.)
The fuck?

I've had continuous Bungie Pro for awhile now because of the Heroic and Mythic packs. Why would I need to buy more of it?

Damn, pretty soon Bungie is going to start charging for the BWU.
this.

Aww, that sucks.

I must thank whoever made this decision. I'm surprisingly in the Beta and its only because I was an early Pro member. I was just commenting the other day on how stale H3 feels and this definitely freshens up the experience a tiny bit. I can't wait to see how it finally works out come launch day. This thread is gonna have a bunch of more links posted. ;)

Microsoft doesn't decide what playlists make DLC as a requirement. What are you trying to suggest?
That Bungie is in a difficult position. They have to be fair to the people who paid for the DLC and for those who haven't paid for the DLC.

Render to Video Public Beta. Point requirement weirdness. I'll stick to my capture card for now unless I want some HD stuff.
[edit] You need to be Bungie Pro too. I don't even have XBL Gold at the moment. I can't pay for all this shit, I'm broke =( I just used all my spare money on my airsoft gun, sight, and other accessories.

:/ i was hoping for about 5 points a month for free not 1 or 2.
oh well i hope the points are cheap (like 3 for a dollar) or else i will not be paying for more. i'm in the beta but thats because i use most of my file share spots (23 right now).
i am surprised at the video quality though.
i think i'll save my points for something crazy during customs next week.

OMG! The BuTube Beta is up? Wonderful surprise! :D :D

Hm, now comes the difficult decision of choosing which film to render...

In the Bungie article about the beta, I seem some GAFfers in that custom game. ;)

wtf at the rendering service.... seems sloppy and confusing. I can seriously see a bungie points card next to my ms points at best buy.

Really? Really? Ugh.

you see a beast in security trying to carry his team but alas it was to difficult
i just stole a bunch of kills

Nice to see the rendering program starting. Little confused about the points thing though.

Is there any way I can render the video, save it, then delete it from the Bnet servers and get my points back? Or even just instantly download it without bothering to keep it on the Bnet servers or use points? I just have a bunch of really short clips I want to save to my computer, make a rockin montage, and put it on youtube.

Pretty sure you're just going to be paying out the ass for them. Anything under a minute will cost you a minute, and even something 1 minute and 1 second long will cost double. I can't imagine the upkeep expense for so many servers, but it's a shame this has to be a premium service; I was looking forward to rendering lots of videos.

On the bright side, I'm glad Bungie Pro subscribers get a little bit to start off with. And the videos looks nice, even in SD.

Here's one of my favorites--hooray for finally having it in video form!

Heh. What a pleasant surprise seeing myself in the embedded video :D
Even standard def doesn't look too shabby, though I am somewhat concerned about the pricing structure. Seems like I might as well just invest in a capture card. I know a few GAFFers here have them, if so, any suggestions? Just keeping my options open.

I can understand why'd they'd have a strict limit on the amount of size of videos stored on their servers, videos that thousands of people will stream/download but if I could just have the service convert them and let me download them it'd be a lot less resource intensive.

Why would you post to tell someone you're going to put them on ignore. That's the most hilariously passive aggressive thing I've ever seen.

I like this Bungie video thing. Buying Bungie pro a year ago finally pays off.

Why ignore me? All I'm doing is expressing, in a public forum, the way I see it as a customer. I have not nor will I ever personally insult anyone who likes giving money to them.

Kuroyume joked earlier that they're going to start charging for the Weekly Update at this rate. Are you going to ignore him too? Do you ignore everyone who pokes and prods your little bubble with the truth?

After reading what you've guys have posted and doing some of my own thinking, I'm sure investing in a capture card is the better route for getting your own films online.

Once the beta is over, I'm sure I will only use the Render-to-Video service sparingly. Especially with one minute of HD video consuming 5 of the minute/Bungie points. That's absurd.

I'd get a capture card if I had a decent PC but since I don't the total costs are too high. I understand why hosting HD videos on a site without ads would be an incredible financial burden but I think they should've had a few more options available for users that weren't so resource intensive.

Also, is there an easier way to search for rendered videos? You can signal them out in the basic file search here but it never shows any results.

I agree with you. Also, I'm sure the render service will get a lot of people trying it out but it doesn't seem like a financially feasible option for users either. We don't have the full story here but if we're going to have to buy points to get a couple of 3 minute videos rendered within the same week then the service kind of loses some of its appeal.

Edit: Looking good as always, DcLevartho.

How many BE points Does Bladed Expert charge for his render service and can the BE points be converted to NYSoM points for Tashi's render service?
Edit: Are they based off the Euro or the Dollar?!?!?!

Yeah I'm a little confused about the render to video feature and how we'll be able to buy them in the future.

I think this pay feature just killed many kids dreams of finally putting up their ultimate montages staged over 100games. LOL

*amazing recon modeling*
All done with modeling with the exception of the plate over the ear region, which needs to be remade

oh my god! bro, that is stunning work. I'm floored everytime you post updates...curious...how many hours have you put into that helmet so far?

also Bnet video renderer, now that I have a capture card, I don't really care about this. HD is nice though.

Dc: Looks hawt!

Just used my two points, lol. The first is Laggy Betrayal. I fire a sniper bullet, a teammate spawns behind the bullet, and it kills him. He thinks I did it intentionally (how could I have, though?) and he manages to betray me.

The other, What a Waste: the blue dude comes so close, yet finishes so far away.

dont know the technical term
Its close enough, its called texturing and the act of doing that for me is digital painting with my wacom. I plan on working on that tomorrow, however I am not looking forward to it because I have to unwrap the entire model.

Thank you, and I'm going to say 12 hours total, including the time porting from 3dsmax 2008 to 3dsmax 2010 and adjusting to the new UI/tools. Most of the time was honestly spent fixing the damned thing and getting rid of pinching. This all would have been done ages ago but I had things such as my driving test, SATs and vacation(s).

12 hours?? That doesn't even seem like a long time lol. Also, which Wacom tablet do you have? Those things are great, I've got the standard Bamboo. Lots of fun!

It isn't, haha, just goes to show you how little free time I have and how much of that time is spent on these kinds of things. Friends, family, and keeping in shape are always my priority before art. No worries though, school is slowing down a whole lot so this project should pick up fast.

I use a 6x8 Intuos 3, however I've been trying to scrounge money for a Cintiq 12WX.

My girlfriend's birthday was this week and I got here one of these.

I fully intend on messing around with it :D

Don't do it!!! Textures mess up everything!!! Just ask the Midship lovers of the world! :lol

Paint something halo related, I'll try to add it as an easter egg once I make a scene for this helmet.

Haha a texture does nothing to grenades or anything, however some shaders have physics attached to them (such as sniper bullets bouncing off specific surfaces). And no worries, in this case my textures will make my model look even better =]

:lol I don't think you'd want that.

I forgot who quickly scribbled this one out for me but consider this the bar I'll be shooting for:

Edit: Actually I think I did that one with a mouse

ohhhhhhh...when I first discovered these things I saw the Intuos 3...that thing is nice...Cintiq must be a dream...So, I'm sorry if you've said it in an earlier post and I just don't remember but what is your goal and intention with this Recon helmet piece? Did you just do it for fun?

I used a Cintiq once and it was the most amazing painting experience I've ever had.

And I do it to thank Bungie for an awesome game, contribute to the community, and most importantly fun.

The thumbnail looked a lot better than the actual pic.

This is the one I was thinking of:

Where you the one that did this? If not I'm pretty sure it was some other english guy, or at least someone I've come to assume is english through their name or avatar.
