Far more people enjoy hanging out with you than KevinRo has ever experienced, but KevinRo has a strong following of older man-children that insist a couple of KevinRo's "tricks" as it were make him superior.

"Professionals" like how easy it is to jump on KevinRo.

Oh god, someone stop me.

This.....is the way the world ends. :lol :lol

You're one of the most popular guys in Matchmaking, actually. It's just cool to talk shit about you because the kids all grew up with KevinRo.

Played some Coop on The Ark yesterday, it still managed to be several magnitudes more enjoyable than soloing in multiplayer for me. I kinda wish Halo 3 had shipped with a 16-player coop super-hard mode. That would have been the bee's knees.

All you have to do is tell me that players prefer AR starts on Blackout out to BRs and I'll officially hand the title of worst fanbase over to the MM inbreds.

I have very little fun on Blackout but can't comment on how it compares to Lockout because I didn't play much of it and have much fonder memories of other levels. It musta been popular though, given that it was remade even with a similar map (Guardian) in the mix already.

blackout is a cool guy. works very well for swat and horse women

EDIT:oops seems like kevinro is lockout therefore joke fails

What's with all the sudden fondness for Halo 2? I remember Halo 2 having a Gears of War-like host advantage, a broken shotgun, and superbouncing.

Your parents are fiercely proud of you, like all parents.
Unfortunately they refuse to believe your poor test scores are your fault.

[FYI - I haven't played enough Blackout enough to side either way, when I was in an open-NAT zone it rarely came up in matchmaking].

Halo 2 is broken. Some of the maps, however, are among the best in the Halo series.

Better to have a broken shotgun than a broken BR, am i rite.

Have the spawns really not been fixed since it first came out? I've only played a few matches on it and that was last year and yeah they were garbage. Why not reuse the ones from Halo 2?

Spawning is garbage on pretty much all of the maps, I don't think it's anything they can fix or they would have by now.

On my maps I tend to be very conservative in my spawns. Not in the number, pe se, but in their location. I *really* don't want people spawning into fire. It's a pretty hard thing to do right. The first iteration of Entrenched, for example, took that way too far and had everyone spawning around the edges of the map in perfect cover, but that made it impossible to clear out the base and move in. So it took several iterations to get the balance right. But even now, there's very few spawns that are not in cover from at least a couple of directions.

For kicks I went into Forge mode and looked at spawns on Standoff, after a game in which I got reamed several times by spawning into directly Warthog fire. (This seems to be a common complaint on Standoff.) I was really surprised at how many of the spawns are just placed right in the open, with open line of sight from long directions all around. Now, Standoff is a pretty open map. So in a sense options are fairly limited. But I still saw a lot of ways the major spawn clusters could be shifted subtly to provide cover from at least a few directions.

We know the spawing system itself is far from perfect in Halo 3. But I'm not convinced the current spawns themselves are ideal. I wonder which is which on Blackout.

Shishka has played Standoff about four times in the past 6 months which should explain the bizarre spawn locations. Bungie please pay someone who plays Halo to control matchmaking. Shishka is so unbelievably incompetent.

They were horrid when Legendary first released. It used to urk the hell out of me.

Now they're about normal as far as Halo 3 spawns go. The level just seems unfriendly to spawns in the first place. If a team locks down top BR and snipe there isn't much the opposing team can do while radar is on. Just spawn below, die, spawn below again. Don't see Lockout would've gotten around this.

I heard that he, ARs on Standoff, and pre-edit Heavies were some of the most popular guys.

I've been considering going into Forge and making 'Light' variants of almost all retail maps and submitting them to Atlas, but I'm not sure if variants of maps other than Foundry/Sandbox variants are allowed. :(

I'm home for the summer and will be playing plenty of games and I'd love to get into some GAF Halo action. My gamertag is Ace 8095. I'm about to start adding all the regular posters who have their gamertags in their personal info. I look forward to playing with y'all soon.

/Cue defensive post.

What does everyone mean the Shotgun was broken?

It works fine as fuck. If you actually shoot them close up they die as opposed to the randomness of the H3 shotgun/melee weird system. Please if you want to bitch about a weapon bitch about the Needler being useless.

H2 has a more host-side connection based system, while H3 adds that weird beatdown system, the bullets are still just as host-based in H3. H3 hides the connection difference better, its still there in full force. You are still going to have the same amount of time difference (ping) between players no matter WHAT GAME YOU PLAY, its how the game hides it thats the difference.

I believe they are allowed. For instance, someone has proposed a Isolation Heavies variant.

Which reminds me, I think I'll try to get films of Chophalla and submit it once I get my xbox back.

I'd say a game's netcode is more important than any masking.

Yea I was gunna edit that then realized netcode basically is the masking of ping. AKA how the game works over the net.

Ping is all based on all the players involved hardware, ISP's, distance, # of hops, traffic, and some other things. As long as the game isn't tearing up peoples connections because its too bandwidth heavy then it really doesn't depend on the game (the ping that is).

My Halo Brothers,

What maps do i need to play matchmaking? I have cold storage and heroic map pack, yet its still saying i need to download a map.

I cant go online!!!

Legendary Maps (600 points) for Team Objective, Rumble Pit, DBLEXP weekends, Team SWAT, Team Snipers, Social Team DLC, Social Big Team, and Team Doubles.

Mythic Maps (800 points) for Rumble Pit, Team SWAT and Team Doubles right now, but Multi-Team, Team Objective, Team Slayer, Social Big Team, Social Team DLC and DBLEXP by June.

MLG, Social Slayer, Squad Battle, Lone Wolves and Social Skirmish are the only playlists that either require the free pack (Heroic) or don't require any pack.

So just have all map packs and you'll be set for everything.

I have to buy these maps now to play matchmaking? The hell since when?

Why are they forcing me to buy the maps (maybe i dont have the money)..... this seems very unfair!

Am i missing something here????

edit: False alarm! Sorry! Ghaleon that link says the following..

# Blackout (Default) - Not required. Part of the Legendary Map Pack.
# Ghost Town (Default) - Not required. Part of the Legendary Map Pack.

So everything is in order yet i still cannot play. I'll email bungie. Cheers guys :P

The link is out of date. Domino got it right.

Stop being a cheap ass you fool.
Perhaps cut back on you tea, and you could afford the maps. :p

I somehow missed this from the last page. Pretty nice.

Yeah the game has been out long enough for the cheapos to save the money needed to buy the maps required for matchmaking.

I have a version of "default" Foundry on my File Share for folks to see what somebody created, and it's basically the same as the normal Foundry but much more nicely constructed, better weapon layout, and more cover. I would love for this to be submitted as well, but as you said, it's doubtful he would accept such a thing.

Then there's my Laser-less version of Standoff. :(

I am curious to why H2H got introduced as a playlist in Halo 3, since there weren't many ramblings about it to begin, and even when it was around, got very little population. I mean, the maps for it were poorly designed but this was something that confused me. Why they brought it into MM, I mean.

That's not the point. The point is Bungie is fucking forcing people to buy the damn maps to play anything worthwhile online. It's the most unabashed shady DLC shit I've seen this gen.

So what about the people who bought the maps?

Do you not think we want to play these DLC maps in matchmaking(ranked)?

the playlists have been pretty much non DLC required for 2 years (almost) now. I think its time we (people who bought the DLC) get to enjoy them in matchmaking.

Download keys for content on disk for $£ say hi.

The disc unlocks are shameful, but at least none of the games that contain them make you feel forced into buying them.

Having access to a certain aspect of a game only to be told "Hold on! You have to pony up more cash to continue!" is fucking repulsive.

So the people that don't want to buy the maps get fucked because Bungie is too stupid to figure out how to integrate it? Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty: World at War have no problem having the DLC maps show up in regular playlists seamlessly without completely fracturing playlists into the DLC/non-DLC mess that Bungie has.

Shit, even the mess that is Gears of War 2 has figured out how to integrate DLC maps into regular playlists.

But of course, since Bungie can't figure it out, they'll just try and swindle people out of more money.

You can play most gametypes available in matchmaking without downloading for-pay maps. Meanwhile, those who did download them have a set of playlists they can depend onto get some mileage out of their purchase. It's a hard situation made even harder by Microsoft's refusal to let the Legendary maps go free, but that's their call, not Bungie's. But the level of hyperbole in your outrage grossly overstates the situation. No one is blocked from matchmaking if they don't have the premium content. Most of the playlists don't require them.

If say, most or even half the playlists required premium DLC, and those that don't have it are blocked from the most popular game types, that's one thing. But that's not the situation.
