Wow can I get some swinging of the Banhammer. MLG Team Ball, my whole team was sent to black screen for a couple of minutes, while the other team gathered time. Any time we did spawn we were red bar and almost instantly killed. After a while, they let up and we were able to try to make a come back. It was a valiant effort but we lost because of those god damn cheaters.

Overview:
Since the last posting I've made some small geometry changes, a few fixes and rearranged the equipment and weapons. So I won't go full-blown with the pictures since I did that last time.
The basic concept is borrowed heavily from Colossus: twin elevated bases, a high tower on right side and a bridge on the left, with the center floor a kill zone. The corners, connections and overall flow feel very different. I really like how the corners turned out, but that might be all I can see through ze map maker goggles.
Ze bridge:
I reduced the regens on the bridge from two (one on either end) to just one in the center.
In Colossus, the bridge got you to the other side, but not right into the base. I connected the bridge to provide more ways into the base, and because I wanted it to be a highly contested, a constant threat. It's far and away the most direct way into the base. There's the regen and some cover along the way, but it's not supposed to be easy to get over it. Think of it like walking in the front door of the base in Standoff and taking the flag: it only happens if your team is coordinated and clears the base, or the opposing team is careless and leaves their posts. Getting the flag halfway across the bridge, much like getting a flag to the center of Standoff, is probably going to end in a cap.
One side of the bridge is open. This is a budget-driven decision. There's about 20 feet of space on that side of the map that's just not used (which is actually quite similar to Colossus). I have a bit of budget left over and may yet tuck something there. I tried to fill in the gap with kill balls, but that turned out to be simply blinding. So for now pretend there's an epic skybox overlooking the map, and the ground leads to a cliff on that side.
The base:
There's really only two direct ways into the base: the ramp that connects from the bridge, and the ramps on the other side (in this case on the left). However, each side can be approached from two ways. On the left there's a high and low road, with the low road wrapping around the column in the corner. On the other side, traversing the bottom level will lead to where the bridge connects to the base. In the basement is where the Mauler resides.
Aside from the opening at the front of the extension, the entire base is shielded from the front. It's partly vulnerable from the elevated rocket spawn platform, and almost entirely exposed from either side. So players that get to the edges of the base will have a huge advantage over those camping inside. Don't let them get there.
On the center of the map, there's a bubble shield up where the rockets are, and on the level right below them reside the shotty and grav lift (a new addition). The grav lift provides a crucial additional route into the base, through the opening in the floor:
I tweaked the man cannon simply by pulling one end onto the floor slightly to adjust the firing angle. That cut the hang time down by about 30% and is acceptable now, I think. It's supposed to be the dangerous way up to the center. One game will probably demonstrate whether it's too dangerous or not.
It's a pretty big map. I'm thinking 5v5 is probably the sweet spot for it.

When I went to Seattle I forgot that it got FUCKING COLD there from time to time -- so I didn't pack any of my jackets or hoodies or whatever, I mean it was summer damn it -- it should be a nice 70 degrees at all times. Long story short, apparently it doesn't work that way in the Pacific NW. I ended up buying the least lame/most affordable hoodie I could find at, what was it, Jacob, Old Navy? Bizarre, striped deal that's now buried in my closet somewhere -- something I'd never pay for unless it was absolutely necessary and I wore it for the whole weekend like one would expect from Mr. Vodoucherous. The retarded part is that I own an inordinately high amount of hoodies for a Floridian -- three of which are Halo ones.

Is it just me or does the range of grenade explosions seem way too big lately? I find myself being hit by grenades that are not even close to me. Maybe this just has to do with my connection or something or not pulling host, but it's been ridiculous lately.

Ugh, sometimes I wish that Bungie would've limited the amount of grenades that you start with even more.

I feel dirty... I had the worst connection as far as I can remember since playing H3. For some reason a new friend of mine and I cannot connect very well (me west coast, him mid west). At least I cant because whenever I play with him I drop down to Yellow/Red bar territory. It got so bad that at the end of one game the other team called me a cheater but I explained to them that I was just having bad connections that night. 3games later and a different hopper, i run into them again and I hear them moan and say theres FourDoor again! He laaaags! I felt so bad and embarrassed.
