Some of us reasonable people don't think $10 is worth only three maps. I bought the Legendary maps when they were cut to $5 during that holiday deal thing.
But soon, $10 will be worth three maps and the opportunity to participate in Halo 3 online matchmaking!

In June, Mythic will be required for Team Slayer, Team Objective, Multi-Team, and Social Big Team.
Damn that's kinda harsh, you can only play a couple playlists now without buying both map packs. Lucky I downloaded Mythic last week I guess, but still.

Oh and finally after like 30 games I get a Mythic map in Zombies. Actually we got one a bit earlier but people vetoed it, which pissed me right off.

Finally got to 1575gs though, which I guess is it till ODST comes out.

In the end Social Slayer offsets Team Slayer, same thing with Social Skirmish and Team objective. But Multi-team? Man I thought that was a fairly non serious playlist, didn't see that one coming. Odd that Social BTB didn't get immediately bumped up. Does sandbox really not work for BTB? Snipers also got passed over, I assume that's the maps not being entirely appropriate again.

Overall the original playlist restrictions were probably more drastic, but restricting Team Slayer just sorta jumps at you. 'WE R TEH SERIOUS'

All jokes aside, we actually do sympathize. Players who plunk down sixty bucks should get great online support and players who go the $60++ route should see dividends from their additional purchases. Proverbial Rock and a Hard Place postin'.

Sympathy is worth a coke and a smile these days I guess.

Yeah, like Eazy said, you can find the entire suite of Halo 3 multiplayer products through the purchase of Halo 3: ODST. I just thought it was interesting that you used the words "ODST's multiplayer" as though the experience expressed in the campaign portion of Halo 3: ODST would have a separate multiplayer component.
I think he was referring to "the componet of Halo 3 ODST's multiplayer that overlaps with Halo 3's multiplayer."

When is E3 again?

I bought the Legendary maps when they were cut to $5 during that holiday deal thing since: a) it was pretty clear the people in charge got greedy and decided they weren't going to make the Legendary maps free and b) I got sick of being locked out of Team Doubles. Even at $5, it still felt like a dirty purchase. I'll only get the Mythic pack if someone gifts it to me. I've heard Orbital and Assembly suck balls anyways.

No, this is a dirty ($5) purchase:

Why, oh why, do I want your theories/hunches on extra multiplayer in ODST to be right...
...some people are guessing that there is gonna be more than just Halo3's MP on the disk?
Link?

Don't go joking the baconator.
I ate one and felt like death afterward.

It's simply too much of a good thing (that thing being an assload of bacon and hamburger). I much prefer burgers with more balanced ingredients (moar condiments and lettuce, for starters).

I think that link might be broken. I just get "sorry no matches" screen.

It is only when everyone else offers 4 maps for $10. The same complaints were made when the Gears of War 2 released that shitty 3-map pack for $10.

3 bucks and change for a single map is a perfectly reasonable price, in my opinion.
I pretty much just only play a few matches a week -if that, nowadays.

Ah, well, check Voc's post history, he's made it clear a few times he has a hunch there's more than meets the eye with ODST's multiplayer component. He's basing this on specific wording from the Bungie crew, lots of hope and that genius-level intellect he throws about.

The rational side of me just wants to write it off as wishful thinking, but Voc isn't the type to give in to rampant flights of fancy, well, much. As long as he is thinking in that direction, it's wise to keep an open mind (but be receptive to being plain wrong too).

Jtwo said:
Well, that makes his "define odst multiplayer" comment make more sense, I thought he was just being an asshole.

Voc =/= Juices
Juices =/= Easy

Juices = Blackflip + Bladed
Easy = Juices - Dax
Urk = Easy - Juices
CrazyArab = Bladed + Juices

..

Umm, math is hard.

Tell me about these games that have 4 maps for $10 aside from one map pack for Gears 2 which has poor integration. Do tell.

Heroic = free
Legendary = 3 for $7.50, or 4 if you include the free map, Cold Storage
Mythic = 3 for $10 w/fastest and smoothest integration into MM including custom fan-made maps being put into MM.

Your rant only holds any sort of small bases for Mythic, but even then you get more than $10 worth.

My original comment was "Voc isn't an ass" and then I used an equation, thought it was interesting, spotted a pattern, came up with a few more, which then defined a few more. It's all scientifically accurate.

The key is (DPM + x)*Posts/KD Ratio (Where x=BR Preferential).

Oh wow, just caught up on 5 pages of posts.

It's kind of creepy that a thread on another forum is dedicated to stalking this thread and then making fun of it. Seems a little unproductive.

But as far as clan matches go, Team Bad Kids can play HaloGAF tomorrow on Customs Night. Minus Vhfive, we should have a ton of people on. We usally have like 12 people on every Saturday, so the PAF guys can quit saying that there won't be enough players. Maybe they won't have neough players, but we could certainly match their number.

So yea, let's go beat their asses so they'll be ashamed and flacid.
yay

Ah but how would you define DPM or what is the formula, also are you using KD overall or social or ranked?

Dani said:
DPM is defined as Dongs Per Minute (only as viewed by the Donger doing the Dongs) and KD is Ranked (based on the "Serious Business" theorem). :D

I knew what DPM stood for, just had no clue how it was calculated. I'm still confused by your chart but of course, my brain doesn't work very good at night time.

If you switch your brain off completely, it makes sense. I'm working on a revised version factoring in the "u mad" statement, the "flight helmet" variation and the "ban" descriptor for Juices.

Dani, you've got too much time on your hands. You need to get your xbox up and running stat, not being able to play Halo has turned you crazy. :p :lol

My Xbox is all packed up but just sitting there dead in the corner of the room, the fucking UPS guys didn't even bother showing up to collect the damm thing.

I miss playing. Sitting here for months reading about you guys going Mythic.. =(

I should be on tomorrow night and I'll make sure to wear my ownage pants.

EDIT: think I found the comment.
Haha, yeah, not trying to be an ass here. I was definitely referencing the possibility for more. There are a few clear cut pieces of evidence which suggest something else other than Halo 3 multiplayer (as awesome as that already is in and of itself). My first inclination was some dialogue in an earlier podcast where Jarrard said that he and other people were surprised by the stuff coming out of the ODST camp. Not sure if it was his tone or the exact words, but something hinted that they were impressed and somewhat shocked at the content in the game -- so to me, it had to be something larger than the scope which we've been presented thus far.

And it doesn't take Sherlock to examine this quote and come up with some interesting possibilities:
Halo 3: ODST will include a variety of new multiplayer maps that apply to Halo 3. Some of these maps are actually part of the Mythic Map Pack that will initially be released on Xbox LIVE Marketplace early next year. This multiplayer content is "Halo 3" in nature, meaning you will not be playing Slayer, CTF or other traditional favorites as anything other than a Spartan or Elite.

In addition, the core ODST campaign can still be experienced cooperatively with up to four players, including saved films, screenshots, campaign scoring and all the great functionality Halo fans have come to enjoy. Beyond that, we're keeping mum on any other multiplayer components of Halo 3: ODST.
I'm not the brightest dude on the block fo sho, but I look at the line which says that they have multiplayer which is Halo 3 in nature and something "beyond" that which they are keeping mum on, as a decidedly separate multiplayer experience which does not involve Spartans and Elites or the typical Halo 3 gametypes.

The verbiage here is pretty deliberate and exacting. It doesn't say much, but says enough for us to make some assumptions imo. Of course, the other end of the spectrum is actually defining what exactly they're being "mum" on. People have suggested a grinder mode, which has been something I've wanted for a long time and is a possibility I suppose, but I'd almost think that it would be too close to a four-player campaign experience with scoring for it to be what's being referred to here.

I'm guessing that Bungie, as history has proven, will do their best to leverage the unique features which make ODST's campaign standout against the backdrop of the Halo trilogy -- creating something that's completely unexpected from a multiplayer perspective, but brilliant in execution and functionality. And, as Ghaleon surveyed, if they're going to talk about ODST, it'd likely be around E3 -- the tradeshow only a month or two before the game's release window.

I read that quote meaning something like "you'll not be playing slayer, etc with anything that isn't an elite or spartan", as in there won't be an ODST model in multiplayer when it comes out. =\

How did you read the "beyond" and "mum" parts? Without those, I agree, Staten could just be clarifying. But with that second sentence, I'm not too sure.

Edit: my bad Dani. I misread you. I'm writing this stuff from an iPod - not my favorite way to Internet. I see what you're saying about it possibly meaning that we could be playing traditional multiplayer with a different character set. Which is definitely possible.

I think he was simply clarifying speculation about ODST in multiplayer on Halo 3 maps as that rumour was pretty strong around that time (and probably still is in some circles).

I think you are correct with the "beyond" and "mum" part. He is clearly hinting that, in addition to the regular multiplayer from Halo 3, he's keeping silent on things. Which may or may not mean what you, and I, hope for.

Umm, Urkle, pretty please, if there's more ODST related information coming up in the next few months that just happens to feature a Q&A... maybe ask your fellow Bungie folk to reveal everything about ODST, preferably before E3 too? Not asking much. =)

Finally got back to my computer and saw this epic typo. Should say "couldn't" and I certainly follow you there Dani.

I'm not entirely certain what we'll get and obviously I don't want to get the parabola train running at full tilt, but I can't help but wonder how interesting an adversarial mode between teams of ODST in devastated Mombasa would be -- especially if those modes were unconventional to Halo's previous multiplayer models. When you consider the tone and intent of ODST's campaign, there's a lot of possibilities.

One of those moments that makes me glad saved films exist.

"....the fuck?"

This actually turned out to matter. Here's a running score on this game:

55-62
61-69
64-72
76-85
82-92
90-93
92-97
94-99
100-99

The only time we led the entire game was on the final score. So in a way, that random rocket kill won us the game.

Wow, that's awesome. Those "omgwtfbbq" moments that can and do happen in any Halo match is one of the reasons why I've always loved the series. Saved films are still so awesome. Whenever I play almost any other game I wish I had saved films.

Nah, don't say that. You will be part of some crazy moment eventually. I'm totally going to be on XBL a ton tomorrow so I hope to have some GAF'ers join me. Crazy adventures will ensue!

I only wish you could save films right from the post-game lobby by just pressing X (like it was during the beta). Now you've gotta back out and switch to the theater lobby just to save your most recent match. Dunno why they changed that, was much more convenient the other way.

Technically you're getting five maps for $10 instead of three... No, wait: you're getting all of these maps for ten dollars.

Maybe but I came to the conclusion last night I'm just awful at heavies. Same thing will happen tonight on Abaddon when we play it :lol

Like seriously half my brain turns off and I make asinine decisions.

I'm a bit agoraphobic so maybe that's why...
