i exchanged a couple of pms with the guy who stole my map. he claimed that his "friend" said he made the map and he could submit it. he also claimed to have tweaked a couple of things but when i took a closer look i still could not find a single thing different.
but it looks like the mods are taking care of things so that should be the end of that

He's probably some punk kid.

Dammit, I wish I could look at these maps. =(

Too bad all of this drama went down while I was at work. ~XxxXOMGRevengeanceizDirteeWTFXxxX~ was so ready to have your back.

There's not a character limit on names, is there?

Map Thief said:
Dude, first of all, I didn't steal your map because...
1. It said it was made not by you, but by somebody else
2. I edited it alot, the spawns are different, the objects are moved, and the weapon spawns have been changed.
3. I know the guy who 'said' he made it, and he said I could fix it up and take claim over it, so stop telling the world that I'm a theif and seriously, even if this is your map, you don't have to tell the whole world. If it is yours, I'm terribly sorry. If you are just claiming that you made it, then please stop annoying me.

:lol :lol "DUDE IT'S MY MAP; but if it's yours..." :lol :lol

Mod Ownage said:
Eaglrys, I recommend that in the future, you create a map from scratch, rather than a pre-existing one to be on the safe side. Judging by dates and downloads, your submission is disqualified. If you would like to discuss this any further, please PM me. All non-submission posts will be deleted in the next hour.

Good stuff. :lol

You heard me. Confirmed by the eternally young and hairy Frank O'Connor.
Yeah, just found out about this now -- climbing out of the ever-growing pile of work I've just assumed. Pretty awesome stuff though.

I'm familiar with some of Greg Bear's work and I know that by many he's considered legendary -- so that's pretty damn exciting. Also glad to see the Halo realm taken in a somewhat unexpected direction which is, for myself, easily the most interesting sector of Halo fiction. It's fresh territory and it should allow for some grass-roots work, heft character building and some intense drama without risking a retcon situation or an overabundance of Spartans because of the complete departure from the existing canon.

I've read some people who are upset because the Forerunner mystique is being taken away, but I really don't see it as that. There's a ton of mystery both within and without the context of the Forerunner race... I doubt they (meaning the story-guiding agents) are going to be heavy-handed with this thing. Ever since the terminals, I've felt that you can't take a story as powerful as the Forerunner's and simply ignore it.

Within the Halo trilogy its a pretty intense affair -- you're constantly trying to stop 'madmen' from pointing their guns at the head of the universe. In the Forerunner tale that convention is completely flipped on its head: you are the madman, so to speak. You have the gun. And you know you actually have to go through with it if anyone is to survive. Like the Didact/Librarian tale and the story of Mendicant Bias vs. Offensive Bias, this area is rife with awesomeness if handled deftly.

Edit 1: Midship remake wat?

Edit 2: Downloading Bungie podcast for Miller Time of win.

I'm downloading the new podcast over iTunes. Its going ridiculously slow for me. Its been an hour and I still have 44 minutes left. Anyone else have this problem?

Yeah they need to unclog their tubes. I was able to download it a while ago in just under 40min with DTA on Firefox. It was still ridiculously slow, but it improved speeds a little.

It won't even start downloading for me. :(

Can't they just upload it youtube or something like that? I have "6 hours remaining."

30.5/72 MB, 3 hours remaining. At first I thought it might be iTunes, so I tried to download right from the site. I didn't know stuff was still measured in bytes/sec.

While I am extremely excited for this new trilogy, I wonder when we will learn the fates of Halsey and the other Spartans. I want to know now.

People are looking into the horrendous download speeds of the podcast. We may have to serve it up episodic style, in 1MB chunks.

I'll stop my dl until you guys get it sorted, no point adding to the demand uselessly.

vhfive said:
fully downloaded :D
i think i got lucky

You shit. =P

If your upstream is good, youtube that shit?

Kibbles said:
:o Kibbles to the rescue. For youtube I'd have to convert to a video file and that may take a while, but I got the mp3 up on megaupload for you guys.

Bungie Podcast - Megaupload

You are full of win, Kibbles.

I was sort of hoping for the continuation of the spartans and Halsey in the Dyson sphere, like Dax said. I don't see these Forerunner books having very many kickass action scenes. :sadface

Ongoing battles with flood? Advanced tech? An extinction of an entire species? They also seem very human, building advanced A.I.'s., etc

They got the same potential as any Halo book.

i've never listened to the podcast. is it worth it?

like, i just don't get why people listen to podcasts. do they reveal anything new or just talk about their life and eat food?

Give it a try?

I'm halfway through, so far they talked about all the latest news from the Bungie perspective, Dan Miller, gave GAF, vhFive and Juices call outs, discussion about the origin of Sandbox - how they stole Sandtrap Objects before replacing them, they requested a remake a map from Quake 3, Dan Miller, more references to future maps and ODST without revealing anything, the Bungie Warroom, Dan Miller, Urk spying on Frankie, How Luke wishes his parents were star wars fans.

Great so far.

If you played Mythic in matchmaking, you get free Bungie Pro. Kinda like what they did with the Legendary Map Pack.

I honestly enjoy conservative talk radio. I live in Vermont and have no cable- need to mix shit up a little. Rush = Reality AM

I like Hannity, but Rush has seriously lost his shit lately.
His whole war on the hybrid is ridiculous.

Don't give up. If you like it, you'll be glad, if not, nothing lost.

I'm not really a podcast person, but this, along with Idle Thumbs, are pretty much all I'll listen to.
