Was able to do a little more tweaking to squeeze another $10 outta the map which I'll use to prevent people from getting out. Also added the rest of the objectives to the map.

Beaver v2.1c

I have now had a run around in it. Very impressive. One question: am I mistaken or does the shotgun only have one clip in it? Surely if you're going to neuter anything it should be the rockets.

Dude, absolutely! Submit that to Atlas asap. "Beaver" is seriously the best forge-made map I've played on thus far. Its quality is FAR above any other map, made by the community, that has actually made it into matchmaking. There's no reason why this shouldn't be it in there right now.

K, I'm measuring high amounts of dick sucking in this post. It seems I'm going to have to download this map to gauge its awesomeness level.

I'm still kind of nervous about the spawn times for the power weapons. Halo 3 maps have rockets and overshield on 3 minutes, and sniper and shotgun on 2 minutes. Beaver (IIRC) has rockets on 2 minutes, sniper on 90s, and overshield and shotgun on 1 minute. Seems a bit fast.

Real Pros use 5.1 and know all the ambient occlusion bugs inside out. I can no-scope-no-look-shot anyone based solely on the positioning of the steam lift audio on my Pioneer Elite VSX paired with Mordaunt Shorts.

Definitely jealous of that audio set-up. What kind of a display do you have for playing?

What? No bass shakers? FAIL!

With the bass shakers, I can tell where every foot step the enemy makes on the map just by the feelings on my buttocks! :lol

And Eazy, I was able to walk around a little last night around Beaver and I must say it is hands down 10x better than what was seen on the ForgeHub remake. Where it felt confined in the other version feels much larger in yours. I think with a few more revisions and tweeks it has lots of potential.

Shake Appeal and I just played through the first five levels in co-op with someone else from Eurogamer. My god, I forgot how fun Halo 3's campaign is. There was lots and lots of laughter. There were also lots of times when one of us was astounded about an area where the player could go, or something the player could do. This game has so much to offer that is not visible in the first playthrough. Can't wait for more campaign goodness in ODST, now.

I don't want to come off as an asshole in this particular post, but you need to be able to use the BR more effectively than you currently are. As much as you like the AR, you need to recognize the fact that the BR is a way more effective weapon, especially on the Mythic maps. Just practice more with it (maybe play a little MLG), which will undoubtedly take your game a long way.

The way that I got it was in Assembly. I pretty much just grabbed a BR in Team ARs and just hung back in our spawn, picking off people from a distance. Another factor that you might consider is just camping the power weapons and powerups. Also, if you're playing on Orbital, always try to have a bubble shield or regen just in case.

Um, you don't have any idea how I play. Look at my career stats, the BR is the weapon I have the most kills with.

I can remember a lot of moaning about the Halo 3 campaign, but once you get together with somone and play on Legendary it's lots of fun. I played the first level with Legendary and a few skulls on a week or so ago, it's brillaint, especially the last set piece of the level.

stop being so defensive he wasn't trying to be a douche he was trying to help.
i just checked your stats and he is right. yes your most used weapon is the br but its at about 20%, mine is around 40%, and his is almost 50%
he plays a lot of mlg but still
your style of play does not lend it self to getting a perfection. you like to get up close and personal while i like to sit back and take people on at mid range. the key to getting a perfection is to wait for a game where the other team isn't very good, sit back and steal kills with a br.

Perfections are had when your team is in the high teens of assists and you are below 5. Kill stealing can sometimes be beneficial. I even sometimes do this with a pistol. :D

What you guys don't understand is that it is possible to reach a point with the AR where you literally transcend BR-wielders; A point where the BR is used only as a support weapon to hit guys from far away as you're making your way over to them.

Can every AR-player ascend in this way? No, of course not. But... is it possible? Absolutely.

So dream big and fly high, Dax01, because there are those out there who have reached the goal; Yes, there exist men who have stared mortality in the face... and AR/melee'ed it into the ground.

Indeed, I speak of a select few players who have reached the pinnacle of Halo 3... with the melee as their primary tool of destruction. These men have ascended to the top - and there is a tale told that amidst cries of "zomg i g0t my 50 lollol," the only words that these behemoths spoke - as they shouldered their ARs - were... "is this it?"

I'm not being defensive at all. I use the BR plenty.

It's what I keep hoping for, but the opportunity never seems to arise. I remember i was close one game: 15 kills and two deaths.

To be frank, I don't know what to put in the center. I want to add another base that is opposite the base that is adjacent to both the red and the blue bases, but I am not sure how to design it.

IIRC, your journey to 50 involved primarily the use of the Warthog turret, not the AR. We were lucky enough to get Standoff for a bajillion games in a row.

Also, instead of saying "is this it" you said "Oh, I have to go now sorry guys," leaving us with our 49's, you dick. :P

I really do think there is something about you being in our party that makes us get Standoff more often. It's as if that Warthog just calls out to you.

Yeah, for those last games from about 47-50, it was the Warthog turret. Which is almost just as awesome (esp considering how huge of a target I should have been to BR proz)!

And I did say "I have to go now, guys," but I was kidding. We played a few more games, I think, and I wasn't the first one to leave. I wouldn't do that to you guys!

maybe a tower up against the wall with walkways connecting to red and blue base. im thinking a gravlift on walkway level that leads to top with sniper at the bottom with a ramp going up to gravlift (walkway level)

try different things out and see what you like best

IGN gave a false alarm.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/bungie-really-will-end-with-halo-3-odst
Bungie has told Eurogamer there really are "no plans" for new Halo 3 content beyond Halo 3: ODST after all.

That familiar stance was temporarily upended this week by game producer Allen Murray, who said the studio would work on Halo 3 for "probably" two more years.

"We'll never say never, but currently Bungie has no plans to make new Halo 3 content beyond the release of ODST," Bungie told us. "We will, however, continue to support the Halo 3 online experience with regular updates to matchmaking playlists and wield the Banhammer as needed.

"With Forge and the Mythic map Sandbox we're already seeing the community stepping up to create some great new maps and gametypes that will offer more variety and longevity to the game down the road.

The future of Halo 3 online will become more and more defined by the people who play it," added the developer.

Halo 3: ODST will launch exclusively on Xbox 360 this autumn. Before then, on 9th April, Bungie will launch the Mythic Map Pack on Xbox Live.

OK picture/update time... I have been working on my first ever map now
and probably my last map since this map making stuff takes way too long for me to do
off and on for the past couple of weeks since I was inspired by some of the maps you guys have made. It first started off as a closed corridor type map where shotguns rolling through the inner tunnels would be where the most fun would be had but it evolved while I was creating it and adding additional levels. I took some cue's from from Beaver creek initially with the teleporter shortcuts and then it grew from there. Now it sort of has the feel of Beaver Creek meets Lockout heights as opposed to my original intention of ARs and Shotgun melees. It's like the map demanded certain things be built for it's flow to work and I've been it's slave ever since. Some quick screens of the progress (I would guess I may be 80% complete with the map now):

Overview shot:
AirStream01.jpg

Blue base looking at Red Base:
AirStream02.jpg

AirStream04.jpg

Inside the base (concept is that there are 4 ways in but only 2.5 ways out. the .5 being the slotted walls where you can throw the flag for your teammate to grab on the outside and head to the portal):

View from top of the bases:

I'm still trying to figure out how best to place ramps/bridges in the center/sides of the maps to place the power weapons. That overview shot there was a quick mockup of a Beaver Creek style sniper perch would work but will try to see how a lockout style Sniper perch will look/feel tonight. Or maybe I can just leave the side ramp/elevated areas out all together right now. Anybody have any ideas that don't involve lifts or having to jump to the platform would be greatly appreciated?

Then it will be time to add the little edge guard rails who can't walk in a straight line in Halo.

Also I'm not 100% convinced of my top base layout so that may change yet again. LOL

Then to the fun part of placing the spawns and objective points so hopefully it can get some play testing so I can figure out better where cover is needed and not needed.

Why does your melee kill count and medal kill count differ? That's weird.
There have been times when I melee'd someone/something so hard that it instantly killed everyone on the map, and in those cases in gave me kills for however many folks there were that died, but only one medal total. Weird, I know, it should have given me medals for all the kills but that's the way it happened for some reason.

Proof positive that part of the ranking system is hidden and based on how often you're forced to reload -- the one metric the AR absolutely obliterates in when compared to all other weapons.

Four Door, your map looks awesome dude. Well done.

Having melee as your best weapon suggests network interference of some sort to me!

(Or else living somewhere along the west coast of the US, and possibly even in WA. Good luck managing that particular feat in Europz.)

He actually sets up shop right in front of Bungie HQ. Dax's dad and Cocop are tight.

Thanks Voc. It would have been the perfect AR map but now it is asking for balance with the BR. :D

So who's re-creating Sandtrap on Sandbox? :D

I would give mad props to anyone who can recreate the Short Spine base from Sandtrap in Sandbox for a nice one sided BTB style map.

Not that it will do any good, but Oddball in Team Objective being only 100 points is dumb, the game is over before it starts, and any map with shield doors shouldn't even have Oddball to begin with. Here's looking at you Boundless!

My Halo 360 died in July of last year. It didn't even make it to 1 year. They sent me another one.

sorry to hear about that. i'm glad they sent you the Halo one rather than sending out a replacement without even checking.

Mine's still kicking pretty good *fingers crossed*

Does anyone else have any problems deleting screenshots from their service profile gallery? I can't do it on mine, so I can't add any more, so I can't have a new trophy shot :(

So from what I gather we'll eventually get some forge maps in matchmaking that were made by Bungie employees and friends. I expect this will take Shishka roughly 6 months to complete. For the second phase Bungie wants to start putting community maps into matchmaking? So Shishka is going to start (eventually) going through the community to find good maps? Then he'll implement those? That should only take 4 years sounds pretty good to me.

BWU was okay. Good to clarify on the whole "working on Halo 3" for the next two years. The additions to the publications page seem interesting at the least.
