I'm facinated by processes of all kinds, including those of creation. So keep the in-progress updates rolling.

Today, I discovered that I built one base lower than the other. Whoops! It took two hours to rebuild, so I didn't make as much progress today as hoped. Added the second level to the bases, expanded the top to add a drop down to it and got the center catwalk built.

I spent two hours today on Beaver Creek. 1 hour making the decline of the creek. Another hour redoing it because although the slope ended at the perfect height visually; there is an invisible extension of the wall that created a bump...

You map's got me intrigued. Keep us updated.
 
Just finally getting around to opening halo wars limited ed. what am i looking for as far as map codes? a ton of shit in here that I can see

The best thing in there is the flame hog. Redeem that code and throw away the Mythic code. Once you start pointing and clicking that hog around you'll never want to go back.

If you head online with the Mythic maps, there's a playlist up under "HaloWarsMythic". They'll be added into the rest of the playlists when the maps hit Marketplace.

Yeah. I keep thinking I'm done, but then I get another idea. But this one is burning me out. They need to hit Marketplace soon so we get more options in matchmaking.

Yeah, if I get SWAT, Griffball, or Orbital one more time I may just go back to SBTB. The ecstasy that is splattering people on Sandbox is the only thing keeping me in that playlist.

He has been sending me game invites almost everyday, so I'm in the same boat as you, but I leave my party friends or invite only, so all he can do is just send me invites.

I've done this before and man does it suck, especially when the bases are elaborate and the amount they're off is like a square or two.

But I got CTF on Rats Nest, thats nearly as good right?!

I kid, it was rather fun and Rats Nest has partially redeemed itself in my eyes. The game ended in about 5 minutes as me and my buddy just went on flag runs in the warthog.

Once the Mythic map hits the marketplace, I hope Assembly finds its way into Doubles, I wish Shiska was here to leak some MM details. I am tempering my excitement at the moment however. I can envisage the maps being really hard to find once they hit the mass market.

Generally when I lock the party down like that it's because I'm going to be hopping on and off line, rather than doing a long session. Both of my kids are sick with fevers, and we had (brave) company coming over.

Also, "send me an invite so I can bug you" doesn't exactly have me rushing to fire off an invite. :lol I opened the party later in the night, and it will probably be open tonight so feel free to hop on.

Tonight's mission: build the central "volcano" (object merging galore) and hopefully the surrounding ground level platforms.

I realized I made a design error when I built the start of some ramps on the sides of the map first. What I should have done - and am now doing - is to build the primary platforms and structures, and then build the connections/ramps around them.Order of operations.

I was thinking back to when Forge was first announced, and we were disappointed that it wasn't a full map editor, and here we are a year and a half later and Bungie has found a way to basically cram a map editor into the Forge interface. I'm still surprised at how robust the tool set is on Sandbox.

You can jump across the sides as well as right across the middle, though the middle route is a bit longer. The platforms in the other shot are actually *much* lower than this, but you can't tell in the perspective.
 
Awesome, my first game on Mythic is Team SWAT on SWArbital and I go +12, two killing sprees, and the other team quits. There was a point where three people came round the corner and I took them all out.

I can see why people might call Orbital confusing, but it's not that bad. I was finding myself knowing where I was most of the time.

This dude was on my friends list somehow, and I finally removed him a couple days ago. He kept spamming me messages, game invites, screenshots, and even dumb map variants called "Lazerrr Tag!".

After the intial learning curve, I'd say it's pretty damn easy. Two bases, two corridors = Orbital. Once you figure out that each hallway goes to the other bases separate entrance, allowing them to cross over at a specific point, you've got the map down.

I think SWAT plays well on both Assembly and Orbital, because of the extensive cover and sight lines -- my issue with SWAT is the Elite population. I have a hard time getting a headshot from behind when the dude's head and neck are constantly craning forward like they're some friggin mutie from Jurassic Park. No offense, Eazy. Freakshow.

How do you shoot a cow in the head from behind? Their head is in front of their body.
 
Orbital is the bastard child of Longest!!! I feel that the ceilings are a bit too low and will knock myself out trying to jump in the corridors.

Although I have not had a chance to play SWAT on Orbital yet.

Someone did. It was a bit sloppy, and broken (could grenade jump on top), but it's been done. Not sure who I played it with, though. Someone from here, I think.

Shoot at them a bit, and then hit their head as they turn, at least, that's what has worked for me.

SWArbital is so awesome
i wish you couldn't use grenades or equipment in SWAT
 
it took a match of neutral bomb for me to really get accustomed to orbitals layout. like mentioned, if you just picture two paths leading out of each base, one higher, one lower, you basically have it.

one thing i dont know yet though... wheres the switch to open the door adjacent to the mongoose?

On the inside of the door. It is one of those flashing ones that are used during campaign.

i had never even noticed that they were shut in other play throughs. are they only closed on gametypes like assualt or ctf?

Like I told you earlier. Whenever I get a seemingly random FR I go and check their friends list to see if they are just random. Quickest way to do it is to scroll down to the T's and see if they have a TJ on their friends list. 9 times out of 10 I will see your name there and no one else's.

Just a heads up: if anyone want to send me a FR they should know that having Trasher on their list equates to an automatic block communications.

I haven't the faintest idea on how to decipher that quote. All I know is that I want a BR somewhere on me at all times.

Thermite, let me introduce you to this nifty little acronym: IIRC. I can't tell you how much time I've saved since I began using it. It's probably double my productivity and general happiness since its inception into my vocabulary.
 
Anyone here play Halo on a PC LCD monitor? How close are you guys sitting to the screen to play? Is the aspect ratio right on the monitor or are you getting stretched pictures on the screen?

I'm contemplating temporarily hooking up my 20" PC monitor to play on at my temporary place while we attempt to find/buy a new house over the next month. I have gotten quite spoiled playing on the big screen for the past several years that I think moving down to something so small will no longer be enjoyable to play H3 on.

Har, let's hope not. Aslong as Assembly and Orbital make it into Swat and Doubles then I don't think they can go too wrong. Fold some of them into Objective also for some Multi Flag perhaps.

Also I think if Bungie limited armour permiutations in Swat to the basic MJOLNIR armour then it would improve the consistency of fun to be had in the playlist.
 
Ugh, I hate my ISP. As soon as it hits peak time my internet becomes nigh unworkable.

On the plus side, we won a CTF game on Orbital and then got cursed out in the lobby. "Dude, they had like one kill to every three of ours!"

Yes, but we had twice as many flag captures as you did. In CTF.

EDIT: I play in 16:10 on my monitor through VGA, using black bars instead of stretching it out. I'm about two feet away. It's fine, but if I double the distance from the screen it's much harder to play. Split-screen is also really constrictive.

PS: There is no way i will ever play split screen on something that small. :lol
 
Kind of an odd question, but does anyone know why Bungie decided to not take away points from people who jump off levels and commit suicide? It pisses me off when in team slayer the scores are really close and as soon as someone takes the lead, they start jumping off the level until time runs out. My friends said it was to prevent people from de-leveling or something. Is it just the lesser of two evils? I want to break my disc in half when people act like bitches to win.
