I flew around the map in Forge and I didn't see any way to cut corners any more than he had. Maybe with some more merging or something... I don't know. It looked like he really stretched the budget for all it was worth.

I'm really impressed, dude, this is spot-on. Walking around in it is kind of weird, actually, because it's so similar. It really sucks, though, that the budget ran out when it did, because you were super close to walling off all of the extraneous areas.

Yeah I might try cutting somethings out. Maybe getting rid of the slits near the bunker and making the window area near the ramp more open. That's about 4 more objects to place.

I could place a few blocks in the garage that way.

Turf II and some of these other maps today look pretty damn hot -- will download. I was thinking today how ironic it is that despite the complaints leveled at Blackout from time to time, we have been met with no attempts at a remake, which, interestingly enough, would be one of the easier ones to remake considering the geometry involved.

I'm guessing it's a testament to how conclusive Blackout is to the Lockout experience on Halo 3, how well the map plays without the initial spawn issues. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before we get a pretty decent Lockout version in the skybubble, but I'm just shocked that no one here (that I'm aware) has mentioned it yet since they made such a big guff about the map to begin with.

Blackout, Ghost Town and Assembly are my favorite small maps in Halo 3, but I'm pulling for you folks making the Turf and the Warlock. Now someone needs to do this one:

I think the Garage is fine. At this point, IMO, I'd just focus on making the map playing in serious settings, which it isn't really right now because of the places you can get to that you're not supposed to be able to reach (outside of the map, on top of the map). I think the main area that needs to be worked on, if possible, is the one to the right of the Scarab (if you're facing the Scarab area).

Also, I definitely think Sanctuary is possible. Turf is rough because most of the map is above ground level, which takes up a lot of items. Most of Sanctuary is on the ground, besides the bases and the center area.

It really is. Whenever I get lucky and see he's giving away codes, I put it on auto-refresh every 3 seconds and I've only managed to win twice since he started doing this last year (Portal:SA and Penny Arcade Ep. 2).

Yeah, I think it might also be because I'm in Michigan, so the distance might also be a problem too besides the people who are good at guessing. :(

Without the walls of the crypt, making sure people don't leave the map will be a bitch, either merging wise, or fund-wise.

Agh, yeah, I forgot about the space issue. There's not really enough space in either the Crypt or the mid-area. And the Sky Bubble wouldn't work because there's not enough budget to make the terrain from scratch.

We were able to get quite a few games in a couple nights ago and I'm really happy with how it plays. I think everyone was able to enjoy the games as well unless they were just being nice (which I doubt because I've given no one any reason to be unnecessarily nice to me). I have a few tweaks planned but I should have a nice shinny new version up tonight.


And that ODST mosaic is badass. It'd be awesome to spot a pick you've submitted in it.

It's not finished yet, I call the middle the "hub"... there will be more than one way to get to the hub than the path that links the base to the hub. I think the overshield will be there, but not certain yet.

It's kinda a heart breaker for me. I would love for it to become more known but it won't because of the "unfinishedness" of it.

If it can be enjoyed amongst circles of friends like HaloGAF or with whoever we share it with (basically no jerks who jump to the outside), I'll be happy with that.

Not able to check it out atm. I am guessing the blinking is just the lasers firing constantly?

Hm, I'm out here right now riding around in a custom and the blinking isn't happening.

EDIT: Yeah, I'm not sure what's happening, but there's no blinking anymore. Maybe when the guy blocked the lasers, it stopped that? The lights "pulse" as they try to fire, but it's very faint and you have to be looking at them to see it. It doesn't permeate anywhere.
 
Wait until you guys see what I have cooking. It's probably the most pointless thing to make, but it's been fun. :lol I should stop spending so much time on this and make my own unique map that I have designs laid out for already.
 
I'm loving that Warlock remake Bladed, but it looks like you chose just ledges to jump up into the bases, is there a reason you didn't use grav lifts to replicate the lifts? maybe you want it to remain more like Wizard with ladders?

The lifts probably shoot you too high/fast resulting in a mess of a landing while fighting or whatever.
