Any specific requests for footage of certain things? I'll be making a video with all the current forge variants later as well. (With the name and author of the map showing up in the video as I move into their map, of course.)

Nicely paced third person Orbital walkthrough.

Specific enough? =)

WTF my 360 just redringed in the middle of finding a match. But now it works fine again... Anyone ever have this happen to them?

Time is running out......

I had the same happen to me on my last box. Kicked the bucket in a day. But who knows, maybe you'll get lucky.

*Edit*

That's tough luck man.

Yeah, I realize the minor changes between Halo 2 and 3,
Those aren't minor changes when you combine them all together.
but the fact is that none of those have much effect on whether a map that was fun in Halo 2 can be remade in Halo 3 and still be a good map. The general geometry and layout of a map can be maintained, and weapon placement and types tweaked to match Halo 3's changes.
I'm not so sure. I'm just saying that maps might require extensive play time to get it up to the quality you remember it had in Halo 2.

Some shenanigans with the killballs please. :lol :D

Backflip: That sucks monkey balls dude. I'm on piece of shit number 6, yes six, SIX! Fingers crossed for a speedy patch job.

But they aren't that significant as a whole either. Not significant enough to say that any map in Halo 2 wouldn't work in Halo 3. Lots of things were refined, but Halo 2 and Halo 3's foundation are very similar. Walking speed, jumping height, the lunging melees... Let's just say that it's a lot easier to imagine playing some of Halo 2's maps in Halo 3, rather than Halo 1's.

Zanzibar and Last Resort would be a good example. Didn't go through the same kind of change as Wizard did when we got Warlock. Because of that, I was hoping we'd see a lot more of Halo 2's maps make the jump... But, I'll enjoy these last six maps.

... I think they are.

I never said that.

It doesn't mean that there wouldn't be minor adjustments that would need to be made in order to transfer the quality of the map from Halo 2 to Halo 3 rather than just the geometry of the map.

Walking speed, jumping height, the lunging melees...
Actually, I think the jumping height is different from Halo 2 than it is in Halo 3. I remember booting up the game for the first time on Sierra 117 and there was something different about the way you jumped.

Those sky bubble maps are amazing guys. Between the new objects and the people making them, the way everything fits together makes it look like it's really going to be the end-all, be-all mapmakers map.

Any clue on if this can still be melted together or not? I heard someone say they were having problems with that, it isn't intentional of course but it seems like a silly thing to fix after what everyone did with Foundry.

Apparently, the problems with merging are only with the pieces that are originally on the map. So, new stuff will blend, pre-existing apparently, will not.

sorry about your box Backflip...lets hope for a speedy recovery

who else am I supposed to play team melee with?!?!?! :P

I know, right? I had a sick game of Swords on Blackout earlier today. Got a Killing Frenzy and a Rampage in the same game.

Did you have a power blip? My 360 will always red ring if I have a power brownout. It's been doing that for 2 years. I just reset it again and it's good to go.

edit: Damn. Nevermind. That sucks.

I don't think so. It happened twice in a row after my box was on for probably a good 10-15 minutes each time. Although it could possibly be power related because I've never heard of it going red ring in the middle of a game.

it's happened to me because of a little fuck up with the power. but, if you turn it on and it red rings immediately, then ur fucked.

Didn't you have a harddrive problem also before this?

Right, I've prepared my File Share for tomorrow's Mythic contest.
I'm generally happy with the screenshots, especially considering I haven't actually taken that many screenshots of campaign before. But it was a lot of fun actually, especially going back through the film and not paying any attention to the Chief (i.e. me) at all.

Wait, the ODST pictures actually have to be good?

Nooooooooooo! I can't take pictures to save my life...

Why do they want to give the maps to photographers instead of mapmakers? Doesn't make sense...

I had a feeling Echo Eagle was taking some pictures of ODSTs when I continually saw him in theater mode. I was right.

I played The Covenant and took a few ordinary pictures you could find anywhere. Except, at one point, one of my ODSTs was launched about a hundred feet into the air. :lol

He landed, perfectly uninjured, and got right back on the turret.

can i get an official answer on this:

Power drains, flares, radar jammers, do not fall on Skybox.

bubble shields and regens do.

Glitch? Purposeful (why?)

If you didn't get an answer previously, it most likely means nobody knows.

Oh jeez, really? First the equipment thing and now I find out Oddball is broken, too:

It falls all the way down baby, all the way bounces, comes to rest then let's you watch as you wait for it to reset. So, you're gonna have to lower reset times if you want to play ball like on guardian.

Let me clarify. The objects, weapons, vehicles, etc. placed on any of the mythic maps can't be set to not spawn at the start. The best method of interlocking involves not spawning one of the items at the start so using the default blocks on Sandbox (which Bungie's recommended because they're deducted from your total object limit of 640 regardless if you use them or delete them) is bothersome. You can still set a object you space to not spawn at the start and place a default object in it's place so that the two objects merge but not the other way around. I've taken to using the default objects when I know I won't have to set them to not spawn at the start and begin to delete the default objects I knew I wouldn't use once my budget got low. I'm currently working on a map that uses a lot of pieces so time will tell if the total object limit will get in my way.

Someone earlier asked if merging was necessary with Sandbox's expanded palette. In many cases it is unless you severely limit your level's geometric complexity or allow many gaps and inconsistencies to get the player hung up on. Trust me, once you start merging you won't go back.

Eazy, can you confirm that the oddball doesn't respawn when going through the skybubble floor?

Also, how vertically restricted is the skybubble? I still haven't seen a measurement or screenshot or anything yet.

Also, just noticed this on HBO:

More Chances at Mythic Map Pack Codes
Randomsauce wrote to let us know that Halo3Mythbusters has a Mythic Map Pack code to give away - create a Covenant-themed screenshot by midnight Tuesday, win a set of the maps early! Read the forum post for full details. (We're going to be giving away a few codes as well... but not until I get home, because it's going to be a very short-term contest, and I want to be there to monitor results. Look for that on Tuesday.)

Covenant-themed, hm? I may have to grab some more screenshots tomorrow...

Backflip, try reseating your power cable at the brick. My second machine red-ringed and I sent it off before I realised that could have been the issue.

Normally I don't do this, but my contest entry really amuses me. The story tells itself.

My favorite part is how his AR starts going off AFTER he gets blown up, like he's going to be alright. But no, no he's not. Forever.

Flags, oddballs, and bombs (anything really) does not reset when it falls through the sky bubble and onto the ground.
