While I think I won't get hooked on the multiplayer (the only mp to really "hook" with me was Halo 3), I think I will get a lot of enjoyment out of the campaign. I care more about campaign than I do multiplayer, anyway.

Whether or not that is true, I got a lot of enjoyment out of the game, and the demo has only served to solidify my anticipation for the title. Also, I think that most of the posters in the demo impressions thread would disagree with you in that it is just a "basic RTS."

However you must accept that facepalming isn't the way to transmit an opinion.

I think it does when you say you are going to pay $80 for three fucking maps and not even bother with the FULL game that came with it. That's just ridiculous.

They're light modifiers. Like little spotlights that put out light to help differentiate areas of the map. Or just to make it look cool.

But that is just a guess so don't take too much offense to it. I hope you enjoy Halo Wars, but I don't, despite the initial enjoyment of seeing a squad of ODST's take on a pair of Honour Guards.

Onto Halo 3, the basement looks amazing, solidifying my lust for the new maps. The forge possibilities are endless, however as I am not a big forger myself I do hope Bungie includes alot of community content in matchmaking to keep things fresh.

No, you said that the game wasn't fun enough to justify the price of the LE. Here, you are being unfair, because Halo Wars alone doesn't justify the $80 dollar price. The LE is meant to be worth the price of Halo Wars, a steelbook case, a comic by Eric Nylund, and three maps (among some other things). ALL TOGETHER they are worth the price of the LE (in my opinion).

You know that to be 100% true? You keep on believing that. You have no idea what my gaming habits are; I buy a game whether or not if it is good. Most of the hype generated from Halo Wars is that it is a Halo game made by a (once =[) very talented studio that has worked on this for the console from the ground up and designing to prove that RTSs can at least be streamlined and work for consoles. The reviewer of Halo Wars from GameInformer thinks Halo Wars will do for RTSs on consoles what Halo did for FPS on consoles. As I said before, it feels very much like a Halo game. The music appears to be of spectacular quality, the multiplayer enough (seemingly) to give it a high replay value, and the controls are excellent.

If the engine can help fully optimize Bungie's games for running the way it is (disc running in the DVD drive like all other games out there), then why do they need to go out of their way for that? So you don't have to hear the DVD drive running?

Well then my advice is to pay attention to the game itself along with Mr. O'Donnell's music than the DVD drive.

I've had two Xbox 360 DVD drives fail on me, that's why. DVD drives crapping out is not covered by the extended 3 year warranty, and I bet that DVD drives failing is the 2nd biggest problem that 360s face.

It's not Bungie's fault of course, though I daresay that Halo 3 has been in my disk tray more than any other game.

Three floors? A basement? Remember Damnation? Multiple levels. And Blood Gulch has basements, remember?

I'm totally pumped for new maps but as someone who doesn't spend a lot of time Forging (100 item limit totally killed it for me), Sandbox looks the least interesting as it's all just a customizable cavernous brown pile of rocks. I'm way more excited for Assembly and Orbital.

Joe Staten seemed to hint at some MP functionality that wasn't announced yet, but it wasn't clear if that was MP in the co-op sense or on the typical MP sense. Bungie has said that Halo 3 will ship will every Halo 3 map, including three only on ODST. So the MP on ODST is just the same as Halo 3; I think they'd have to split the user base further to add other stuff. And at that point, with three more maps landing, I doubt they want to do that.

Can't remember where I read it but I vaguely remember a Bungie employee saying that ODST wouldn't have a competitve feature but that they are keeping something MP related that's yet to be revealed. If I had to guess I'd say it's co-op related.
