Oh boy, only a month away from being able to pay an obscene amount of money for 3 maps that were finished for months and months. Glad we finally get something after waiting for a year. But it gets better! Not only are we only getting 3 terrible maps, one of them is a slightly polished version of the map editor that should have been launched with the game a year and a half ago!

You are correct.

February 5 and 6 are assigned multiplayer days, so that's when I'll get full hands-on online multiplayer against the devs. Not sure how it'll all fair out, but I have belief that it'll play as good as the campaign.

I was wondering, are you a big RTS fan? C&C, Civ, Warcraft, etc? Not that I'd dismiss your opinion if you aren't. I'm just curious.

I think I've gone back and forth on this game about 20 times at this point. : / I'll be really happy when the demo finally comes out.

Nah, they are in-engine just like Halo 3. Remember the guys we contracted to work on Halo 3 cinematics (there was some story on Bnet back in the day about them), well, the blogger that everyone is sewing their pants together over, is one of thsoe former DamnFX guys.

Using people whose work we dug and who are familiar with our systems makes pretty solid sense.

The incessant bouncing on the jump to conclusions mat, Claude, does not. :D
 
What region is that Halo Wars demo in? I have a Jap account that I use to download these things, but it isn't working.

Dunno, we don't know the exact region for the demo link, it might be Canada, but it could still be blocked without a promo code.

It's also Gold account exclusive meaning no Silver fun.

Why bother making more maps? Bungie's had plenty of maps ready for us for awhile, but we won't be playing them. Let's say CA makes 3 maps... then what? We can play them when they're bundled with Too Human 2 in nine years?

My Jap account is gold. And I've got a Canadian friend who just tried it on his gold account and was unsuccessful... hm.

No doubt MS has done some great things gaming-wise, but this, along with closing down Ensemble is the stuff that gets me... ugh.

Just to think that we could have been playing the six new maps all this time now...

The demo went up a week early so that sites like MLGpro.com, MajorNelson.com, TeamXbox.com, etc. could hand out codes for the demo to people. Only way to download it now is to get one of those codes. :)

Yeah, I'm a huge strategy fan in genre. AoE 1-3, AoM, RoN, Civ 2-4 + Civ Rev, Warcraft 3, C&C Red Alert, Warhammer, Company of Heroes, Empire Earth, and (one of my current favs) Galactic Civilizations II.

Those would the majority of my favorite RTS. I've played all the RTS on the 360 and Halo Wars is better then them all. The CGI cinematics help tell the story better, so there's at least some visual eye candy if you like CGI.

This is very good to hear.
 
The cinematics are great yes, but the voice acting almost kills it for me :lol The elites sound like something on a shitty tv show with bad acting, like Power Ranger villains. I would've rather had them speak Sanghelli with subtitles than talk like that.

Just finished the videos. I agree, Coco: Thursday can't come soon enough. On the second mission, there was one path that the player chose not to explore. I will check that out once I get the demo.

One of those lines is mind-numbingly terrible.
The other is a cute line for fans to laugh a little at, the relief felt at rescuing Cortana and the fact that they can make jokes in such a dire situation

  1. Couldn't be happier that Bungie is no longer MS's bitch.
    Hopefully they're working on another FPS Halo universe game, and won't pull BS like this.
    Of course, MS will force them to price the DLC at a premium price.

    Q: Can Bungie still use the Halo name/Halo universe setpieces, or does MS totally own that now?

As far as we know, Microsoft owns Halo completely. So Bungie can only "use" the Halo brand when MS has licensed them to.

They sold their soul to the Devil then bought it back at a steep cost just.

I don't know about you all, but after investing time in the books and learning about the Halo Universe I feel scared that Microsoft will fuck it up.
