Unless of course Assembly is tiered and there's a basement in which the entirety of Midship is hidden. I mean where else could they be hiding the skull. I walked all around the map at PAX (thanks to the fact I spawned with an AR) and found no skull so it must be downstairs.

Chernobyled redeemed.

Midship under Assembly confirmed. YES. YES!!!

If you try to quote them on a message board they find a way to watermark that shit.

At least Foundry has a unique layout. Both teams spawning behind a wall. And each side is totally different.

The biggest problem with Foundry is the team that spawns on the forklift side has such a huge adnvantage being able to get to rockets and snipe so much quicker and easier.

Sandbox looks like they designed it in a half hour and just said, "Fuck it, its a forge map.".

So, the mythic pack has a remake and this pitiful offering.

Orbital looks like they took some time and care with it.

The remake and Sandbox should be free.

I've got a good idea for you. Don't buy the maps if you are so dissappointed with them.
Simple as that.

Also, note the different skybox, that looks like a moon to me.
Could be opposite the sun set on the other side, or could be an entirely different skybox.

Note the different skybox? Are you serious? That's a crappy sketch by Luke. How can you tell it's s different skybox than the screenshot?

It's likely we can't see that portion of the sky from the screenshot, as we can partially see the tower he drew but not the top of it. There could be a moon - and it wouldn't necessarily be exactly in the same spot as the drawing, as it would partially depend on the position of the viewer. Or, it's a different tower, in a different direction.

You think Luke would have trouble drawing a crecsent moon vs. a sun set? One's a circle, the other a toe-nail...

I was pointing out that this could be opposite vantage point of the exact same skybox, or a different all together... and explaining your high-in-the-sky light source in that tower spotlight.

Maybe the light can dilate...so that it covers smaller or larger portions of the map? This would allow users to establish a designated field of play through a visual queue -- the map's lighting.

Also, the blue/red orbs are clearly for base designations. Would it be out of the question to suggest that certain items in the Forge palette, like those colored columns for example, change their color based on orb they're near -- as though the orb has a perimeter which it encapsulates and objects, like the column for instance, will have their color determined by the orb they fall within range of? Forge already has this functionality in the spawning zones, so it's not too far-fetched even though simply have different colored geometry is equally as practical.

Bolded just shows how educated you are about the upcoming map pack. You could have reduced your post to just that and I would have gotten the same thing out of it.

You. Are. Wrong.

Midship is being remade as part of the Mythic map pack.

Its called Assembly, but its a Midship remake.

Occam's razor: the simplest explanation is often the truth. He's looking at a different portion of the map, or from a different view, and there's both a sun and moon on Sandbox.

I like your thinking, that thought never occurred to me.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. It would be neat if it did something like that but it wouldn't be necessary unless there were a lot of different objects that could had color dependencies.

Okay, first... the remake? :lol

And second, Sandbox should be free because you don't like the default layout?

The default layout is going to be what we play in MM.

I play MM.

So, if they are going to just throw this shit together, yeah, it should be free. That map looks amateurish. And that's being kind.

There are two choppers on this map. Whoever made it put more thought into it than those who made every other chopperless map.

Let's be clear though: I don't think it's been confirmed that the screen we've seen of Sandbox is the default layout.

...I certainly hope it isn't, because it looks awful.

Yup, certainly hasn't been confirmed to be the default layout.

We haven't seen a confirmed default layout, so shut up... again.

Calling it now, you can change the skybox and floor of sandbox in forge.

maybe I'll be right on this guess because that would be a sweet addition
Maybe you'll be right on because you read everyone else's speculation and attempt to pass it as your own come reveal time?

I'm having such a hard time getting the two for one achievement. Maybe ranking up to a 40 in LW wasn't such a smart idea.

Any tips on getting it? I haven't gotten one King game in Snowbound. :(

Seriously didn't know anyone else said that, I read quick sometimes so I might have missed that part.

Sandbox combines large-scale vehicular combat with a limitless amount of Forge customization. Boasting a tiered, open-world layout, “Halo 3” players will be able to build their own unique game experiences using the Forge map editor. Sandbox is a map unlike any Bungie has ever created.

"Limitless" almost seems like clever wording to me. As in your creations are limitless as long as you use the 12 blocks seen in the picture. But if there are "no limits" is it theoretically possible to have the entire playing area stacked to the ceiling with blocks?

I don't mean to be so pessimistic but Bungie is the same company that turned Lockout into a rusty oil platform set at midnight.

How about a screenshot in the coming weeks of Sandbox piled high with as many blocks as it can fit?

Not only has it been said, but it's been discussed back and forth a lot, by at least 4 different people.

Hey anyone want to play Halo 3 on Legendary ... COOP I need to people I want to finish the game right now ... only last 2 levels to go..
Hit me up: Elite Penguino
I need to get those two on legendary also.

I'm still trying to figure out from what POV Luke drew his piccie from. D: Probably from one of those little pillar things on the side.

You can't plan around anything in the foreground, as that can all be changed.
Just judging by the BG, its either the same exact giant pillar we are looking at (with a different skybox), or its the complete opposite angle from the screenshot (with the same skybox) and basically off-screen.

Try camping the laser spawn in snowbound, I guess it's luck really.
I read that you can get it on Legendary Brawl. Guess I'll just have to wait till Bungie rolls out that playlist again.

Or the same pillar but the sun's off to the left out of the picture Luke drew, and he's at ground level looking more up at the tower and can see the moon. The moon may not be visible in the screenshot because it's higher in the sky and that shot is mostly looking down at the ground.

Yeah that's possible also.
Does Sandtrap have one or two of those giant towers off in the distance?

Clearly, it's a different skybox that can be dropped as a Forge object, ala the lighting filters.

I'm assuming there will be different "skins" for the ground as well, which when dropped in Forge alter the texture work of the environmental geometry. Displayed is simply the default.

  • Sandy (Default)
  • Rocky
  • Grassy
  • Forerunner
  • Epic Blue Grid

I hope it's something like that but I'm not buyin' it til I see it for myself.
