I started campaign again on Legendary solo to get used to it. The only thing that I had to still get used too once I was in MM with it was melee since I don't do too much of that in campaign.

i STILL have major issues flying a banshee using bumper jumper. every time i make a fly by on the other team i end up ejecting myself out of it in mid flight! :lol

i dont play all that frequently these days and i pilot banshees even less frequently, so its not shocking. one day :P

Depends on how well experienced you are with FPS games, but 10 hours is pretty average amount for each game.

Also, if your a decent FPS player then play all halo games on the heroic difficulty. tis the way halo is meant to be played (especially halo 3!)
I'm a pretty decent FPS player on PC.

On console, I'm basically totally unexperienced. :lol

start on normal then for sure. i really hope the old games hold up to todays standards for you, cause way back when halo 1 was such an amazing experience

it'll translate over. just give yourself some time and once you've got your head around the game mechanics the control should follow.

Bumper-Jumper solves many problems.

...but adds a new one with the B button.

Go with everything default, been do that since Halo 1 and have never looked back, I am thinking of trying 4 sensitivity though because I feel like I'm a little slow on some of my spins. Anyone have tips on a good sensitivity that people have been using.

The thing that took me longest to adjust to using bumper jumper was boarding. I had been using boxer since Halo 1 days. Getting into vehicles isn't something you do often in a game so it takes longer to develop that instinctual memory. Boarding is also a very instincts first, thinking second event so I ended up reloading a lot when trying to board someone for a while. After a couple of months, I don't have any more issues.

My version is entirely from the point of view of a lone Grunt, separate from his friends and family, trying to make his way home.

I wonder does he realize what he seeks cannot be found in this societal construct of "home." I feel sorrow for him already. There is no "way." There is only being.

You know writing the thing isn't a problem.

They have a whole slew of talented and dedicated writers between Bungie and Microsoft. My guess would be getting a good script from a writer to a studio which not only wants to make it, but wants to make it very badly and with the right guidance. That script has to have a writer's name behind it they feel comfortable in supporting and the product has to be something a studio will feel confident about selling.

I'll be honest. Having seen the atrocities that are most game-to-film conversions, I'm not shocked in the least. A Halo film has to be compelling and powerful and it must capture the things about the first game which we fell in love with. The mystery of the ring. The legend of the Master Chief. The horror of the Flood. The dominance of the Covenant. These are things which I think can and should be told, but obviously not if they're told wrong.

I'm sticking with 4. Was as high as 6 but long range shooting gets sloppy for me above 4.

News concerning the EXP troubles from Bnet:
UPDATE THE THIRD, OCTOBER THE SECOND IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2008, 9:26am PDT
Hooray! It appears that all issues have been resolved. People playing since late last night should notice that they are now properly being rewarded for EXP.

Unfortunately, EXP earned over the last couple days will not be retroactively rewarded, nor can we adjust TrueSkill for the games played. On the bright side, you can make up lost time by playing this weekend's Double EXP playlist!

Thanks again to everyone for their patience while the matter was resolved.
Good to hear.

Even if it sounds like they are going to make it right, you still know there is about a 95% chance that it will be terrible.

My only hope is that it will keep getting delayed until it is somewhat not painful for viewers to watch. That's all you can really hope for with video game movies.

Good luck Max Payne! lolololol

Btw, Voc, what happened to your avatar? I kinda miss the creepy thing.

Regardless of how proudly the word "Halo" is stamped onto the cover, I think it is the best move to start with the prequel. Although CE was the best way to start a game (nameless character with no background and surrounded by other nameless people in the middle of a war against aliens of unkown background) it's only because a game is inherently interactive so the player has a easier time putting himself in Chief's shoes then a movie-goer would.

It may be a personal thing, for I rarely ever find myself engaged to heavy sci-fi action stories, but IMO the more human story of Fall of Reach is much more engaging than the entire core storyline of the trilogy. And regardless of how hardcore Halo story fans feel; I think the general public, and especially those who have never played the games, would benefit from some character development as opposed to throwing them into a scenario where they don't know, or care, about the characters as they have no background and don't really gain any throughout CE.

As a gamer, and admittedly enjoying CE's story more than any other sci-fi one, I would love to see a CE remake. The nostalgia of seeing first landing on Halo, a recreation of levels like Truth and Reconciliation, AotCR, and 343 Guilty Spark on the big screen -wow, just the thought of that is making me wet. It's just that what makes the thought of a CE movie attractive to me is not what would attract the broad audience necessary to make a full featured film successful. I may be wrong, Halo CE sold a shit-ton and maybe they alone could make this film financially worthwhile but I have my doubts.

wow, and people say that bungie doesn't care about their fans also, did anyone notice that the double xp is team snipers. :D , I think someone was looking at this forum a little too much. :lol At least I can get in a few games of snipers now and pwn some noobs.

I think a Halo movie would best be served by starting somewhere near the end of Fall of Reach then covering the events of Halo CE. There could be flashbacks to the beginning parts of Fall of Reach interspersed. The war between humans & covenant would need to be properly set up before the random jump to mysterious alien artifact takes place.

I'd also like to add that I wouldnt want to see a Halo movie done unless it was a big budget flick. Something around the 160-250 million dollar range.

I would want grade-A special effects, and LoTR sized epicness.
Movie would have to sit somewhere between Starwars and LoTR in terms of tone.
As much as I'd love to see some truely gross and nasty shit from the flood... the movie should shoot for a pg-13 rating ensuring mass appeal and securing sequels.

I'd pre-order tickets right now if it could hit that target.

edit: 300th post!

How many mature rated games go on to make PG-13 movies. Seems to me making a PG-13 shooter movie would be as bad as deciding to revolve the entire film around the Cortana level.

You know, I think the Heavies maps are pretty good. I think that the SL should be the weapon that spawns in the middle of the map, and Rockets should replace the SLs, at least on valhalla (the only heavies map I've played.) Rockets are more satisfying weapons, and take much more skill to use. I also think the missle pod should respawn more slowly.

The vehicle spawns are okay with me, though I think they should replace a 'hog with a Chopper. And really, with SLs, Rockets, and tanks around, it's stupid to have a regular 'hog there, nobody in their right mind would use it, it should be replaced with a gauss 'hog.

That's the easy way out. If that's what the Halo movie is, I don't want it. I'm looking for a Saving Private Ryan, with Master Chief, The Flood and the Covenant.

A story of a squad, including MC, crash landing on Halo, full of Flood and Covenant, and having to destroy it. Focusing on the emotions, brutality and action when fighting these enemies.

I want R rating. Anything less is bullshit.

I played a few games of Team Snipers, decided that I suck at it, that when I don't suck at it my teammates suck at it, and that the average Snipers playlist player is a glorious, glorious douchebag.

I wonder what that says about those here who are clamoring for it?

okay well i've went ahead and tweaked it. More like over-hauled it. For Sandtrap specifically, I loaded up the elephants with two turrets each, with a 20 second respawn. Also on the elephants are 1 tripmine, 1 power drain and 1 rockets (2 clips). The reason being is to make the elephant a more formidable opponent versus the more agile vehicles. Also the elephant cannot be lasered, tripmined, missile podded etc.

I've removed 2 of the lasers. The remaining two are closer to the spawn points. They also have a 120 second respawn, and will not spawn in the beginning. Therefore there will be some heavy vehicle combat for the first two minutes.

I've added more rockets and trip mines. I've added a bubble shield on low respawn time to each side. I've also replaced all frag grenades with plasma grenades. There is only one missile pod in the middle side (where the rockets are on normal sandtrap)

I've also modified the respawn times on some of the vehicles, such as the scorpion and wraith. (45 seconds on the scorpion? Seriously?)

Moved the prowler closer to the starting warthogs so that people will use it >.>

Placed some rockets near the mongoose.

If anyone is interested in testing this out in custom games, let me know I'll put it in my fileshare

Nice, but if you removed two, then shouldn't there still be ten left on the map (not two?) I thought there were twelve total on Sandtrap Heavies.

Eh you're probably right.
I guess I'm just playing the odds, of securing a monster budget.

I'd just rather see proper scale and wonder, then gore and grit.

Edit:Right on Voc.
Honestly Halo really isnt anything like Saving Private Ryan at all. I mean the games really hit on my curiosity bone more then a feeling of brotherhood.

Team Snipers is this weeks Double XP.

I immediately thought of this thread while playing. I better see you all in there :lol

You guys are nuts if you think this movie (if made) is gonna be rated R. I have a feeling if there is a Halo movie made this thread will have tons of pissed off people. I'm already dreading the meltdown when Halo Wars launches.

The students here at Michigan State are holding a rally on campus now I think.
thank goodness my dorm is no where near the rally
. On topic: So how is team snipers treating the people who have played it, fun or not?

Has anyone managed to get the Oddball achievement recently? If so, in which playlist did you acquire it?
Chinner, and I think Total has, and I think both in DLC FFA. But yeah, finding an oddball game is REALLY hard.
