Dude that sounds like a great idea for a playlist.

It would be like a playlist where you spawn with the sniper rifle only. In teams of 4. They could call it Team Snipers.

Then they could remove it from the other playlists.

I quit twice out of SIX back-to-back sniper games. Sue me. (actually it was three since one game had unbearable lag)

I don't blame him honestly...the weighting of Sniper modes in Social Slayer is pretty ridiculous.

So, out of 6 matches you quited out of half of them? Mainly because you didn't like the particular game type?

Sniper (and SWAT) matches don't really depend on equally sized teams. Sometime it can even be beneficial to have less teammates and more targets.

That said, he did quited out of a lot of matches so if I were him I'd quited less often cause Bungie could ban him for quiteding. They've got a new policy for quiteders so it'd be smarter to suffer through it than to quited.
 
Yeah, if I got six sniper games in a row, you better believe I'd be quitting out as well.

Also got a pretty sweet stick on Avalanche. Will upload to Gamevee ASAP. :D

As for the Snipers, that's ridiculous...and again if there was a Sniper's playlist, Social Slayer wouldn't have this problem.

Mimic's EXP penalties is -83. Let's lay off the banning talk for him, at least.

A better option is to make Snipers ranked, remove it from all other playlists, and make folks like Mimic, happy... Too easy? Nah!

Absolutely loving the SWAT changes. No nade starts and a beatdown is a kill now WITH lowered objectives.

Awesome.

Just got a Running Riot Overkill for the 50th kill in a game, it was quite epic.:D

Mis-quote. They said "major changes to the Halo 3 online experience". They did not specify the scope as AU2.

Since then we have seen:

  1. AU2 with new Achievements, map variants and playlist rankings
  2. Matchmaking playlist overhaul
  3. Significant changes to stats and player profiles on Bungie.net
  4. Complete re-design of file share systems with a shitton of added functionality and features (launching in a few weeks)
  5. New map announced and demoed, with up to five more known (or suspected) to be coming
  6. New Banhammer bringing the WHAAAAAAAAMbulence all the way to our little thread here on NeoGAF

I dunno. My expectations for "major changes" to Halo 3 online have been met.
 
Team Snipers might be the worst thing to ever be in any multiplayer game. It should be wiped from the face of the earth.

... also, when the fuck do we get a Team Snipers playlist? C'mon Bungie, everyone wants it!

I don't want it. I'd rather the weighting be lowered in the rest of the playlists and have it become a double experience every once in a while. but thats just me

There's reason to believe more people simply want it out of SS and TS than people wanting to play it in its own playlist. It's not one of the particularly popular double exp weekends and a lot of people don't want it in SS and TS because they don't like the gametype.

Their options are:
1) to remove it completely (making fans of snipers angry and decreasing the variety)
2) Make it its own playlist which could very well have a weak population in a gametype where the skill range varies immensely
3) or keep it at its current high weighting and toss it into double exp weekends

I'd personally like to see its weighting lowered significantly but don't care to ever see it in its own playlist. Originally I hated the gametype but its grown on me. On many maps I'd rather play snipes than AR starts...
 
Does anybody remember reading anything about the Halo 3 disk being full? Could there be room for a re-release of Halo 3 with the full game, additional maps and campaign extension?

If by campaign extension you mean the thing in the teaser, thats almost certainly a full on seperate game at this point. As for the maps, if anything, I'd guess they'd just put 'em all on a seperate disc a la Halo 2 map packs, once all the ones mentioned in the new achievements get released.

I'm not vouching for quitters here, but I don't understand this sentiment.

In a game of snipers, or any other Team Slayer game, if you suck, wouldn't it be better to just not be on the team? You quit, therefore they can't kill you anymore, one less target for the other team, etc. Whereas you stay in there, hide, still get found occassionally, get stuck in spawn traps and rack up more deaths.

Or looking at it another way, why should he stay in a game that he hates and sucks at? If he's not having fun, what's the point of playing the game?

Low population? Are you kidding...it was the second most popular playlist in Halo 2 and it always draws in a large crowd for Double EXP weekends.

Lowering the weighting isn't going to appease anyone, it's just going to piss off the people who want Team Snipers and piss off the people who don't wan't Team Snipers, period.

I may be in the minority, but I actually think that Halo 3's campaign is the best of the trilogy. :X

I must correct myself, gameplay wise, it is the best.

Team Snipers was the second most popular playlist in Halo 2 after Team Slayer in the final auto update. Obviously people liked the gametype (or how it fit on the maps, ahem!).

It is also one of the most popular playlists for Double EXP. Far more popular than 3 Balls and Legendary Brawl.

Solution? Make it a permanent, ranked playlist, and remove it from Social and Team Slayer. Happiness for all who want to join SS and TS without playing Snipers.

Those who want Snipers all the time can have so in its Hardcore varied playlist.

-Launching is still possible but not as good.
-Invisible barriers are my worst nightmare
-No good easter eggs

I thought Halo 3 was better gameplay wise as well but I just wish it was more trick friendly.
 
Anyone else just get booted off Xbox Live? I played two games, and was in a lobby with some people I partied up with. The playlist wouldn't load, and then I got disconnected. Back to the Dashboard, still can't connect.

We got some very strange issues with playlists not showing and borked service records in game.

Just ran the networking test, and it failed at the Xbox Live step. Joy. :lol

Agreed.

I personally think Team Snipers is the most competitive and skilled match you can have in a game of Halo, its one truly for the hardcore though.

In the last podcast it was mentioned they are just going to use snipers as double xp weekend material only because they don't want to cause a balance issue in the playlist population, which I think is complete horse shit.

I just got booted from live to, its def an xbox live issue.
