This is true. If I quit because the kid woke up from his nap, guess what: that 10 minutes ain't going to bother me. However, if I quit because I'm just a bad person, then I've been punished, and it inconveniences me.

One problem that may come to light with that is if someone D/C's out of a game and get's booted back to the lobby, are they going to have to wait 10 minutes to get back in? I don't think the algorithm could tell between a "DNF" and a D/C

Other than that, it's an excellent idea.

If you go into the menu and hit "are you sure you want to quit", I'm sure it could run something special there like a quit token or whatever. Of course this is something that would have to be built into the system that isnt already there, so the time to do it would have been during the update.

The only way you can beat the cheaters is zero tolerance. Nothing else ever seems to work. You need to make it hostile grounds to cheat.
So filling a party and social gametype with guests to get an Oddball game is cheating?

Let's be honest, here, this whole new banning system is basically aimed at EXP exploiters and is a great way for Bungie to shift the attention of the real problems with the Halo 3 online experience, which is that of quitters and alt accounts.

Personally, I don't give a shit about EXP, especially in a social playlist. The way I see it, if someone wants to fill a gametype with a ton of guests, then let them, they're not harming anyone else.

It is a flaw in Halo 3's matchmaking that is very easily resolved (don't allow parties the size of the max number of players), but Bungie would rather just gloss over the problem with an automated banning system that homes in on people playing consecutive games with guests. As far as this sytem is concerned, someone could just be playing some games in Matchmaking with some people who have never played Halo before, hence why they never got any kills, but they would still receive an EXP ban.

It is what we who are not in the biz but like to pretend that we might be able to be in the biz if we wanted to call an idealistic solution.

Generally, I don't think people quit on a consistent basis to be assholes. Usually people who do quit often, it's to lower their military rank, and they do it in FFA gametypes. I do love the challenge of a 3 Vs 4 though.

Yeah, I mean, look at me. I have -359 EXP and that is mainly because I quit out of every snipers game I have to accept. Hell, I'm probably doing my team a favor by quitting in a snipers game. :lol

It doesn't matter if you personally care about exp or not, you are exploiting the way the system was designed. That's considered cheating - by definition.

Why not? Maybe not in life, maybe those people spend the time not quitting saving children or something, but as far as the game goes, I'd definitely consider anyone who makes a habit out of quitting an asshole.

See that's crap because I have less than half that and I get bitchsmacked. Whatever, I need to go study up for Art History.

No because you can click the dashboard button and join any open party to leave not going through the quit menu, I think?

I think it shouldn't differentiate the two. Usually a disconnect is from lagging out. Not in my case, my connection just drops randomly even in great conditions and then reconnects again in like 5 seconds, BUT a laggy connection should have a 10 minute wait if you lagged out. This would prevent people with laggy connections playing as much Halo which would even lower the amount of laggy games out there.

I think?

His was probably accrued over time (while it is still pretty high), where as you had a ton in a row. The system flagged you because you just kept doing it over and over.

This is a retarded idea.

So doing it overtime makes it better right?

Yeah, I think that when you quit that much, something needs to be done. Dax quits out of almost 16% of the games he plays. That's disgusting to me.

I'm also a big fan of the sort of "let the punishment fit the crime" kind of stuff. For example, Dax could get banned from every single playlist that has Snipers if he always quits out of snipers. Sadly, the MM population is too vast to do stuff that... fitting.

I don't give a fuck what you think is right and wrong. It's all wrong, just yours was obvious, and easily detectable. People will have a million reasons to quit, thats just a reality of living in the real world. But you made yourself a target by just doing it over and over in a row. How else is the system suppose to find exp boosting?

Believe me, I'm getting better at tolerating sniper games. But I hate it so much...

If you quit one game a day every day since the game came out you'd have 368 xp. That's arguably not as bad as quitting 24 times in a day, since it's more likely to be the start of cheating rather then something else.

You're trying to argue Bungies policies with a bunch of people on a forum. You played the game wrong according to the powers that be, deal with it.

Where's that fucking kids table.

Oh, I got it! How about the Halo 3 Online thread can be your guys' new place to spam with AIM messages and "Get on, fucker"s.

Just did my very first game of DLC FFA and people were in there EXP boosting it seems.

DBCeen with 3 guests (just standing there most of the time) and inmortaluigi with 1 guest (again standing there) and dangericky. They were in a party of 7 and I was the one random that got matched up with em.

I'll probably get banned for this game even tho I wasn't in their party, cause I played the whole thing and came in first (by a lot). Not sure if it's best to just quit out of the game in this situation or what. I pissed the cheater off though..

Reported/avoided em all after the game.

Was a rhetorical question.

And seriously, keep that shit outta here.

Rhetorical questions still require question marks.

And on topic, Shotty Snipers on Boundless after vetoing Team Snipers on Last Resort can go to hell. Blueblur knows what I'm talkin about.

Holy shit. Just played a game of Big Team Slayer on Standoff Heavy and got 52 of my teams 100 kills. Was ridiculous. 46 of them were from the Gauss Hog, and my roommate got 46 assists. Had a Killtacular and an Overkill. And lots of Triples and Doubles. Put the entire saved film in my file share. It wasn't a game where the other team quit, or they just tried to get themselves killed either. I forgot how much I love the Gauss Hog. Loving Standoff Heavy.

gauss hog breaks the halo 3 gameplay which is why it is not in most mp maps this story just proves it.
heavies tries to compensate by putting in lasers with quick respawns but that just makes the variant worse.

in other words heavies sucks

Sniping someone across sandtrap with that beast feels baaaaadassss. Though one-shot dying from it in that fashion blows :(

There's one on Sandtrap too? I haven't found that one yet. I love the Gauss Hog though. Looking forward to that now:D

Also, is Cold Storage in any playlists but Lone Wolves? I loved it and played the hell out of Icy Treats when it came out but I hadn't played much H3 since then until this past week. Want to play it again.

Yeah, I love the heavy maps for the insane vehicle shenanigans that occur on them. Unfortunately the only way to balance such a map is to have it covered in lasers. This makes the vehicles less fun.

It's required and in DLC FFA and SWAT. It's should also be in (though not required for) Lone Wolves, Rumble Pit, Social Slayer, and TS.

Normally, I read the entire thread up to where I post, but no time tonight.

A few GAFfers on my friends list, so it's worth pointing out - account's been hacked, any message you receive from 'Louis Wu' between about an hour ago and when this gets resolved (if?) is bogus.

Good part of having friends at Bungie/XBL - the dickwad's been completely banned from Halo 3 (even the lobby). Bad part - I can't play right now. :(

That sucks...I'm unknowledgable in these things, did you even have recon, or was it just random dickery?

Laser Tag on Avalanche... I'm at one of the teleporters and I'm scanning the Shotgun area with my scope. A guy pops out from behind a spire and he's looking right at me. We fire at the same time. My shot lands neatly in his head, and his barely misses.

Nearest miss ever?
Nice armor :D Exact same set I use.

Friends brought Halo 3 over, we played some 3 player matches. Fun, fun, fun. I was saving up for Far Cry 2, Gears 2, and some other things, but I think I'm going to have to shell out the goods tomorrow and pick up a new Halo 3 disc. (r.i.p legenday edition)
I'll just buy FC2 on GT, I have over 10,000 GTD. Gears 2 I'm still gettin at launch.

louis, after you get your account back call xbox support and request to have a password that you can tell them before they can help you or anybody claiming to be you

Sorry to hear that Wu. It's good that something has been done about it.
